    WOW - SOLVED MY PROBLEM: During a recent storm, the power was flickering for a while and the next day I noticed that most (7/10) of my home Feit LED dimmer switches would only go on/off and would NOT dim anymore. All were connected on Wi-Fi and changing the settings did nothing. After watching this video, I opened and closed the 'air gap' on every dimmer and like magic everything was working correctly. The 'air gap' switch was easily accessible using my fingernail and without having to remove any switch plates. THANK YOU :)

    OHHHHH MG!!!!!! This could have saved my sanity a week ago! I've gone bananas for going on a week after countless repeated power outages here in Pittsburgh, they will happen here for no reason, you feel like you're living in Lagos! Seriously, one of my good friends lived there and nightly they'd lose power, fine but this is Pittsburgh, PA, USA 🙄 without storms or high demand you WILL randomly lose power (super annoying!). Now, i do all the tech, IT, electrical, blah blah blah stuff around the house so I've aged 10 years this week and you're right, the Feit website and app is useless in explaining it demonstrating just how to use this "air gap switch" i was just about to go take pliers to yank it outta the switch if it hadn't been for this video!!!! I can't thank you ENOUGH for this very helpful and descriptive video, hope you have a most blessed weekend ❤ thank you, grazie, danke, domo arigato, gracias, ta, merci, obrigada❣️

    I have had a pair of switches offline for about a year and a half due to this issue. Thank you so much for posting this video. I had spent hours with their tech support with them telling me my wireless network was the issue when it was just that silly little switch at the bottom. Awesome work figuring this out!

    I had the same problem after some of the power outages. I used to delete the devices and added them back from the app. It's a hassle. However, several months ago, I was not able to reconnect them. Your video works and has saved me a lot of agony. I don't even need to do the delete and add steps. Thanks.

    Subscribed! Thank you for this info! My Feit smart dimmer switch has been off my network for almost a year. I tried making it blink to start pairing but it would only blink once. When I saw your video I thought to myself that's one thing I never tried and didn't even know about the air gap switch. After I pulled the tab to reset the unit, it shut off all the lights, then the unit's power light started blinking and it stopped. I was about to start pairing it with the Feit app but then I decided to try turning it off/on with Google/Alexa voice command(s) and the Feit App and it just worked! Thank you! I was about to take the switch out and put a new Feit smart dimmer switch in. Thanks again.

    Thank you so so much! Even with your tip I struggled as the EZ setup was not working, and the only alternative after a few tries was the AP mode that you can manually select within the Application. Finally, it is important to ensure a brand new install of the app is on your iPhone. I tried between two different iPhones and the setup worked on the one with the new install, even the other one was updated. Bad documentation from Feit that may result in a lot of returns to Costco. Thank you, Thank you thank you!

    This was a lifesaver, thank you.
    Pro-tip - use “screwless” wall plate covers with these (and other similar rebranded Tuya switches) - I was able to get the air gap switch without tools since the frame that the switch mounts in left room to grab the nubby for the air gap switch.

    • @lsimon2342
      @lsimon2342 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do they have such a wall plate for a two gang installation like the one above?

  • @JalilShaikh
    @JalilShaikh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The video was very helpful because of the air gap switch. However, even with that I had difficulty because I had another dimmer right next to it. So I guess it is better to pull air gaps for all the Fiet dimmers so that you can connect one at a time.
    Thanks again for the helpful video.

  • @toddshank8724
    @toddshank8724 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks, this worked for me too.
    I tried several times without luck, be sure to check your WiFi signal strength, especially if you are using a mesh system, my closest router was on but not functioning so my cell phone had a good enough 2.4Ghz signal but the smart switch did not.
    I reset the switch, then tapped the button for that switch in the Feit app, and it did the rest for me.

    This video really helps me in solving the wifi issue and power off completely the smart dimmer switch i bought in Costco. The Feit customer support is sucks.Another problem i encountered with this switch is when i turn off my chandelier LED light remain lighted at 1% dim light...in order to power off completely you need to pull that little plastic below to power off.The design of this switch has problem that needs a recall.Feit better step up.

  • @tellshami
    @tellshami 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Awesome...i tried for hours today....not resetting at all. wanted to call Feit customer support tomorrow but glad I came across your video - first video to play after search. For me I did not have to reset completely - blinking slowly that is. As soon as I pulled that small switch at bottom - it sort of reset and Smart Life app caught it. Thank you so much !!

  • @gustmeyer551

    I have a different problem with this switch. It connects fine to WiFi and works with Alexa. The problem is I replaced the switch with an 3-way switch. The on-off switch opposite the smart dimmer switch does not turn on or off the lights. The red wire YL/RD is connected with the T2 (red wire) that connects to a pole on the remote switch. I submitted this to Feit Electric.

    you mean on/off switch for dimmer switch not air gap switch . since it shuts down power to entire controller wouldn't turning off breaker for that light circuit do same thing ?

    • @techturretpro3790
      @techturretpro3790  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know why they call it an Air gap switch, but essentially an on/off. The breaker likely would do the same thing but this method is localized to just the switch not the whole circuit.

  • @dougiequick1
    @dougiequick1 ปีที่แล้ว

    could probably also turn circuit breaker off which "powers off device" for real. ..my guess its what "air gap" does "air GAP between power connection?

    This is not working for me. I basically had My dimmer working and then lost power. When the power came back on it was off the network. But it still turns the light on and off manually. When I hold the switch down for 10 seconds it never blinks. It just turns on the light. If I do the air gap, that doesn't work either that just either turns it off or on. I cannot get it to blink. Any other ideas?

    All you have to do is pull air gap. Push in. Connect with app. App won’t acknowledge connection but as soon as light stops flashing you are connected. Just hit cancel.
    I have 35 of these in my house. After power flash some disconnected and I reconnected. But I deleted 2 dimmers and I cannot reconnect them. Annoying. Not sure how to factory reset them.

    • @tzarza
      @tzarza 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. I’ve noticed they function different now, and easier to connect after pulling the airgap switch and popping it back in. Perhaps a firmware update has made them easier to reset. Hopefully those 2 aren’t bad. Tried holding down the button to perform a factory reset?

    • @tzarza

      I’m not sure how well these type of switches would work well with a fan since its a dimmer switch. Might consider using it elsewhere in the house.

      You may just want to use bond which is designed for smart home use with Ceiling fans i just installed 4 bond enabled fans with wifi and they seem to be pretty reliable. The thing is with the Fans they require certain voltage and not sure if the dimmer can provide the right amount to make the motor move.
