    This came two days late TT but being not tense with your dog is probably the most important thing. My dog kept snapping at the other dog but I realized she was tense because I was tense so after calming down she did also. Your dog picks up how you're feeling so try your best to be calm!

      So is it in a way your dog trying to protect its owner cause it feels their stress?

    • @CCRhorst
      @CCRhorst 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@CodeSiber kinda, more like who is in control of the situation. If you’re nervous and tense, your dog will pick up on that and think that they need to step up and be in control. My male husky Thor is that way, so every time we’re out on the leash, I keep it relaxed, if we meet a new dog I keep the leash relaxed to let him know I’m saying it’s fine to meet the new dog. If we’re walking and he starts pulling to go yell at another dog (which is almost every time because he’s a grumpy old man) I give him a tug on the leash hooked up to his harness to get his attention and keep walking like I never saw the other dog. If they’re very close I keep him even closer to my side until they’re no longer near by and continue loose leash walking. I’ve never had a problem with him on the leash, even when approached by dogs that are off leash (luckily those dogs have been good as well). Thor knows I’ve got the situation in hand and always exude that confidence when we are out walking otherwise if I’m nervous and scared I’m showing that I’m not in control so why should he listen to me?

      @@CCRhorst at least we know when dogs are acting up it’s probably with good intent. It sucks that people don’t train properly.

      @@CodeSiber yep, often feel like it's more the people that need to be trained than the dog. I know I needed to be trained when I got Thor to be the best owner for him I could be :)

      @Mar-velousMarlenak8 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      It doesn't matter if it's your dog, you're responsible for its behavior while in your care. I would work on their training while you're together. Great Pyrenees are working dogs and love having a job to do. They can be stubborn, but are very smart.

    • @brittanyo5182
      @brittanyo5182 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Yes to the above comment. Also, keep the dogs away from each other until you can control the situation. Otherwise you’re supporting the inevitable. They dogs could fight and could really hurt each other. How would you break it up if it came to that? If you don’t have a proper answer, keep them separated.

    • @protipskiptoendofvideoandr286
      @protipskiptoendofvideoandr286 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brittanyo5182 depends honestly. If only 1 is really attacking. Grab their collar and put the dogs ribs/chest in between your legs chock the dog with the collar while pulling up and squeezing with your legs on their ribs. Its not nice but I've see dogs get killed within seconds so can't be nice. If its 2 then do what I said above with the more aggressive dog and hope the nicer 1 stops. If its a dog on the streets just shoot the mfer.

    I have a Dalmatian that's almost two years old. He's shown discomfort towards new people since I got him when he was 3 months old and his reaction has developed into aggression. He does better with people in a public setting than he does at home, which I would assume is him being either protective or territorial, but we don't want him to be aggressive towards house guests, especially the young children that come over sometimes. He hasn't bit anyone despite the opportunity, however he has jumped on them as if trying to knock them down or something. I've tried 2 or 3 different methods that sometimes work depending on the person, but it's like I have to start over everytime that person comes over unless he's been around them often. I'm also worried about introducing him to my cousin's puppy that's always around due to his (the Dalmatian) aggression whenever nearby

    I have a sweet dog, but also very sensitive and protective. His behaviour is totally different if he is iff leash.
    Now because he is protective and sensitive he sometimes stand offish with certain dogs. I noticed he is less leniant with bigger dogs then with small dogs.
    How do I react if my dog is not having it ?
    Pull away ? Do I stop the interacting and go forward ?

    We’re working to introduce my 5 yr old female GSD to my sons 5 month old male GSD puppy. The puppy and our son do not live with us but we will be together often.. The puppy wants to jump and play on my old girl who is not having it. We did the steps you recommended with walking together and separate with fence but the puppies over exuberance without the fence/crate was a no go for my older girl. What should we try next to get them comfortable with each other? Or is this a wait till puppy grows up?

    I do something similar I ask a friend but together in the same direction down the street and we start off with a lot of space and then we get a little bit closer and a little bit closer depending upon how the animals behave, they like to sniff things together they like to investigate the same things and when they see that the other animal is investigating something they want to look at it when they get to it and then slowly slowly before you know what they are going to be together and sniffing and just imagining that they're part of the same pack just like they were always together

    I have a little short fury dog(poodle). My dog(not the poodle) is bigger and always steals the other one's food, like she doesn't want him to eat at all and she gets too aggressive. She's always been our dog since she was young. But the poodle, as well as a German Shepard pitbull breed was given to us recently. She doesn't attack the pitbull but attacks the poodle. Help, why is she so against him?.
