2 concern. When transferring points you don’t get the 1.25x or 1.5x on your points like if you booked through the chase portal. That .25 or .5 needs to be accounted for, of course not going to rival a 7x, but some math to consider to get down to the cent. Also, points are transferred to American or delta, etc. These airlines could have cheaper flights, also something to consider.
That is true you don't get the 1.25x or 1.5x points when transferring to partners. I absolutely consider all possible options before transferring the points (portal price, comparing price with other airlines, etc) It wouldn't make sense to pay a ton of extra points or dollars when there's perfectly good options from competing airlines
It'll take some time to figure everything out, but start out with a few airlines and example flights you might take in the future and compare the points cost on the Chase Travel portal vs what the airline will charge you to book with them. I'd start by looking at Southwest, United, and JetBlue and see what will cost the least amount of points to book
The Chase Freedom cards earn the same point currency as the Sapphire or Ink cards. The Freedom cards earn Ultimate Rewards points and they can be combined with your other points when transferred to partners
Can you earn points on the chase saphire preferred paying rent? Does this count as a "purchase". I don't see it mentioned in their fine print. Thank you.
The only thing I’m confused about is you said if you use Chase points you get one point per dollar but when you book travel through Chase, you could use three times the points with the sapphire card
I’m not sure of the exact scenario you’re referencing in the video, but yes the Sapphire cards can earn more and can redeem better than other Chase cards
Have you done the video of the value of booking with the United points rather than redeeming for cash yet? I saw the cost was 140,970 points but not sure what the same flight costed you if it was cash? Many of my flights are 1:1 either miles or cash when trying to book with United. I haven't found the benefit yet. Could you argument more on it?
Great video. I guess what is the difference of booking the United flight from the chase portal vs transferring to United portal and booking from the United website.
I thought the same when I first started learning about all of this. The transfer partners all have different abilities. If you want to book a United Airlines flight is the Chase Travel portal, you may find the flight costs 20,000 Chase points, but you can also transfer Chase points to United Airlines and book an award flight directly on the United website. That same flight you found for 20,000 Chase points, may only cost 10,000 United miles, so you would only have to use 10,000 Chase points to book the flight. Hopefully that makes this a little bit easier to understand
I actually booked the flight for 22,500 points + $165 with Air France. I'm planning to make a video on that, but the quick details are: it's from Chicago to Copenhagen and I used the Flying Blue promo to save 25% off the points. I'll make a detailed video about it in a few weeks
You can do this one of two ways. 1. If she is an authorized user on your Sapphire card, you can transfer your points to her United account 2. If she has a Sapphire card of her own, you can call Chase to link her Sapphire card with yours. Then you can combine points by sending your points to her account and then she can transfer the credit card points to her United account Hope that helps you earn some flights!
To transfer points, it has to be done on a laptop or desktop, correct? I’m asking because I can’t locate the transfer to travel partners option using the app from my smartphone.
You can use the app. This is how I did it on my iPhone: Login to your account that has a transfer partner eligible card. Scroll down and click on the Ultimate Rewards section that shows your available and pending points. Click on the menu bar on the top left of the screen and then scroll down and select Transfer to Travel Partners. The screen now acts as it does on the desktop website
It's a pretty big pain in the butt to to figure out how much a flight will cost in points/miles, at least for the airline's i'm looking at. Any pointers? (no pun intended lol)
Yeah I’d agree it’s pretty difficult at first to know how much the flights will cost. I’d recommend choosing a flight route you want to take on the airlines of your choice and search a bunch of different dates because some days will have availability and others won’t. There’s also ways to book your favorite airlines on other airline websites for cheaper if the two companies are partners. Searching Google could help with this. For example, you can search “can I book Delta flights with Air France miles”. That should give a good start and then feel free you ask any specific questions you have because there’s A LOT to learn to get really good at this
This guy needs to spend less time concentrating on his face ... and more time looking at the exact Chase screen that allows you to step by step transfer ... his description does not appear to match the Ultimate Rewards website.

Thank you so much!
thanks for the info Jacob, I'm going to start trying to lean into more Chase transfers as the majority of mine have been through Amex!
You’re welcome! After I post my video about the Chase, I have one I’m going to make for AMEX. I love being able to transfer from both
Half way through the video and no instructions on how to actually transfer...please change the title
Don't worry, it's in there!
Great video and information! Keep up the great work 👍
Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it
How do you know which airline has the best point ratio? If its a 1to1.. if not worth transfering.

First! Nice!
Thanks for the support! Hope you enjoyed the video!
Hi, thanks for the video! I'm confused, though. Why did you mention Chase freedom points of we can't use them to book travel?
The Chase Freedom cards earn the same point currency as the Sapphire or Ink cards. The Freedom cards earn Ultimate Rewards points and they can be combined with your other points when transferred to partners
Great video
Thank you so much!

@@pwanlass yes rent has always counted as a purchase on my Chase cards!
@ awesome. Thank you.

Hey I did post that video! It’s right here:
th-cam.com/video/79IU4YexhU0/w-d-xo.html
@@JacobsPointsAndProfit I see your point. Thanks
And also, if you have a freedom card, you could easily transfer all of the points to your sapphire card. I’ve done that many times.
Yes, moving points from a Freedom card to a Sapphire card is great and makes the Freedom cards better than if you used them by themselves
Great video. I guess what is the difference of booking the United flight from the chase portal vs transferring to United portal and booking from the United website.
Booking through the Chase portal is a lot more simple, but most of the time will cost more points than transferring to United or other partners
@@JacobsPointsAndProfit wow! That’s good to know! Did not know that. Thanks!
Great information
Thanks! I’m happy you enjoyed the video
I am confused? If its a one to one transfer, what is the point?

How did you find and do the 28k points example with airfrance?
I actually booked the flight for 22,500 points + $165 with Air France. I'm planning to make a video on that, but the quick details are: it's from Chicago to Copenhagen and I used the Flying Blue promo to save 25% off the points. I'll make a detailed video about it in a few weeks
Can I transfer points: my ( chase sapphire) to my wife ( United explorer) , thanks.

Can I transfer my points from my Amazon chase credit card to those cards in order to transfer to partners?
Sadly no. The Amazon card only earns cash back not Ultimate Rewards points

My bad bro
Woohoo we are going to Asia (for free hehe)🎉
Turns out we made the points redemption and we're already here!
