Hence, eight hands of Durga has eight most powerful weapons of gods ie Trident from Shiva, Chakra from Vishnu, Vajra from Indra etc. She alone is capable to handle all weapons. When Mahisasur saw her he instantly get consumed by her beauty. He sent his servants to first propose her on his behalf and if she denied then took her forcefully. All powerful mother killed all demons but one called Raktabeej whose blood if dropped on ground produced new raktabeej. Hence mother Durga separated a energy from her to form Mahakali who drank all blood drops so that they don't fall on ground. But, intoxicated with blood she drank and in anger she forget everything even after killing all demons she started killing everyone who came in her path. When lord Shiva saw that she will destroy whole universe he layed in her path and she mistakenly put her legs on him. As he was also jis guru and husband whom she respected alot a d putting leg on anything sacred is seen bad in Hinduism she instantly repented and her anger converted into guilt. She then again became parvati. Even once Shiva had to become a child and cry before Mahakali so that her motherhood arise and her anger get converted into motherly love. That avatar of lord Shiva is called Batukavatar. Durga is feminine enery which is called Adishakti ie the premoidal power. She is the source of power to all gods including Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma.
