    Once the lobby agrees to hand the win to a player, I assume the rest of the placement is decided by the score on the UI ribbon?

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      Yeah, pretty much. The CPL discord has an elo system that makes adjustments based on your placement at the end of the game. While by default the placements of players who don't get first are just determined by score, sometimes players will negotiate for specific positions. For example, a guy who's fourth by score may say something like "I'll vote + on CC, but only if I'm 2nd."
      An important thing to note when doing a vote to concede a game is that there are a number of conditions which grant players veto power if they've achieved them. You can find the full set of rules for voting to concede the game here, including a list of vetos: cpl.gg/rules/voting/
      These vetos are important, as they allow players who are pursuing win conditions to prevent a game from being called prematurely. In this game, I end up getting 2nd. However, if the game were to be called on turn 81, I would've placed 5th. Thankfully, by having the largest military score in the game, I had the power to unliterally veto any vote to concede the game with the standings as-is. While I don't actually end up needing to exercise it here (Russia and Nubia are both clearly competing for 1st), this veto power could've proved integral to preserving my CPL elo points so I can continue looking at my big number on the leaderboard and feeling good about myself.

      @@HersonCiv lol, it's quite fascinating how a relatively small gaming community developed a full-on balance mod and came up with such rules and ranking system to make the game more suitable for multiplayer.

    Do you have a set amount of cities you try to settle per game? Or do you just see how the game is going before you decide?

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My video "Precisely how many settlers to produce in Civ 6!" covers pretty much the whole thought process I go through when deciding how many cities to settle. You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/MyEUiK-DNDE/w-d-xo.html

    Herson, how did you recognize that it was game for ancestor hall, instead of audience chamber? If I remember correctly, you don't have easy access to continent split for luxes, you dont have a lot of space (i know, it can be argued), and for me most importantly, you have a lot of 'yellow' (plains, not grass), so u low on food + you dont have magnus internal with + to food, and last but not least important, number of chops in your land is not impressive at all. For me its 100% audience chamber, 2 mosha, 2 pingala, rest as needed.

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Choosing between ancestral hall vs audience chamber is something I wasn't super great at until I sat down and sorted out my thoughts to make a video on the topic. That happened a while after this Georgia game. You're correct - I would always go Audience Chamber on this spawn if I played it again today.

    Playing vs deity, would papal primacy be worth considering how strong CPU spreads religion? I suppose it may depend on neighboring CS

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I'm not sure, I rarely ever play against AI anymore. My channel's primarily focused on the meta for multiplayer, particularly with the Better Balanced Game mod. Georgia is a contender for the worst civ in the game if you're playing without the balance mod.

    • @bluffbattalion7883
      @bluffbattalion7883 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HersonCiv I'm enjoying the content. I have a few friends that play bbg mod but mostly vs AI. Put another way, would you go papal primacy(or Georgia for that matter) if you knew ahead of time that 4 other players would go hard faith spread victory?

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bluffbattalion7883 Georgia would naturally be weaker in a lobby with multiple people pursuing religious victory, as Papal Primacy's pressure is generally enough to easily convert a city state which isn't following a religion yet, but struggles to remove a foreign religion from a city state that's already adopted it.
      The "Papal primacy" belief would certainly be worse in those cases, but instances where multiple people are trying hard to spread their religion everywhere are rare in CPL, which is the Civ community I play in.
      In general, religious victory is not something that's often pursued in serious Civ 6 multiplayer lobbies, because it's too easy to declare war on someone and denounce all of their religious units. Not only does this instantly kill the unit, it also reduces the existing religious pressure from that unit's religion in all nearby cities.

      i just did a papal primacy deity georgia, and it made gold ages totally trivial. i kept converting enemy CS to my religion, on top of the bonuses to era score she already gets. this meant that i could focus on more profitable infrastructure, rather than chasing down wonders or strategic resources for golden eras. really fun! probably not meta.

    at 2:19:56 how do we have loyalty in that kongo city? excellent game!

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The loyalty is from the city state of Preslav, whose suzerain bonus in BBG grants +40 loyalty per turn to all cities in your empire, effectively guaranteeing they always remain fully loyal. It's quite the glow-up for the city state, as its suzerain bonus is practically useless in the vanilla game with the Rise & Fall and Gathering Storm DLC.

    enjoyed this vid a great deal, and clearly you are a great player
    I'm not sure if the speed you are operating at allows, but I'd like to hear less from your opposition (the accents make it inaudible most of the time anyway) and more commentary from you around your decision making as you progress

    How were you able to have full loyalty on Yoink and Bradford?

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The suzerain bonus of the city state of Preslav was reworked in the Better Balanced Game mod. It grants +40 loyalty per turn in every city in your empire in BBG, which guarantees they remain fully loyal.

      Thanks! That's a nice suz bonus, way to take advantage of it; that' was pretty clever. Another, more simple, question: who won this game? I know rome had 2k+ culture but russia had more tourism. Who won and which metric was used to decide it? Sorry for the ineptitude im just now taking interest in multiplayer civ. @@HersonCiv

      @@lindoriastreams8446 Nubia was on the verge of winning space victory, so we conceded the game to them via a vote. It may not look like they're winning if you just look at the stats at the end of the game, but try rewinding to turn 70, or turn 84 - you can see that they actually had much higher science than most of the lobby for a large portion of the game. This turned into a tangible lead in technologies, which allowed Nubia to start on all of the space projects before anyone else.
      Look at 4:36:25 . I hover over the "science victory" tab on the right, and you can see that Nubia has 67 techs completed, 11 more than the next player in the lobby (me). This is not only the product of Nubia having higher science than most players for the whole game, but also due to them getting Oxford University (instantly completes two techs), Alan Turing (a great scientist who instantly completes Computers), and pillaging land in other player's territory during the later stage of the game with helicopters for even more science.
      Nubia is played by Dragos_CS, who is the current highest rated player on the free-for-all ranked ladder in CPL. I actually managed to beat him to science victory in my newest video on this channel, where I played Macedon.
