  • I borrowed the idea for this solution from the logging industry. We needed a way to get building materials from the lake up to our build site. The solution is the Sky Line. A suspended cable with a pulley system.

What is really interesting to me is how unique and rare your situation is, and how creatively you have used what was available to do what you wanted to do.
    Kudos to your father-in-law, too.

Clamp those steel sheets - a few big box store clams, hang off of cable, good to go.
    Great vid btw.

Hi, I used steeple Jenny winches in the 1980’s for temporary electric cradles in London England. They sat on the back of steel box section Jibs by a pin and counterweights. The cable went over a “cat head” wheel and lifted up the aluminium cradle up to 300”. Probably originated in USA being 110V

Pretty cool.. I have been thinking about something similar for my farm here for pulling logs.. often conditions are not good for driving with heavy loads. Thanks for sharing!

Could have modified the lift to include clamps to pull the tin sheets up, or a flat panel lift kinda like they use in drywall lifts to get it to second story houses. Wouldn't be too hard to create

Any chance of showing how you attached load to main cable? I’m considering buying a ruin in Portugal which has no vehicular access only 100 metre footpath from road down a quite steep hill. Cheers and good luck!
