Ok, so now I'm even more envious! Lol ! I'm in W. Mich, so have some good water... But, the body has kinda given up (bad arthritis, & leukemia)... Had always hoped to see some of those waters. For some of those deep holes, I used to use a 3 way & put a Hildebrand spinner on the fly (found my first one in Granddads shoulder bag 60 years ago, lol!). Definitely can be a game changer, with streamers, leeches, woolie buggers, etc... Nice to get a day off, thanks for sharing the afternoon !!
I cant pretend to know anything about fishing for trout, but that river is beautiful! Makes me just want to sit on the bank and dip my toes in it and listen to the water flowing by. Thanks Quinton!
It’s definitely one of the most gorgeous rivers I have ever fished. On one side of the river is the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Wild horses can sometimes be seen coming to the river for a drink of water. Some of the deep chasms in the river caused the water to look azure blue. Camp Sherman is a gorgeous place that’s looks park like. Since it’s spring fed it’s one of the coldest rivers to fish.
Any day on the Metolius or Deschutes is a good day... You aren't far from my house. Lake Billy Chinook - Round Butte has some monster Bull Trout. It's not the same as fishin the rivers though, and you have to deal with all the idiots in their ski boats and jet skis... I hate to say it, but I haven't even gone fishing this year. My wife passed away two years ago, and we always fished together, and my Dad passed away a year ago. I just haven't been able to bring myself to go. I was just in my bedroom looking at some of my old rods, and some really old bamboo rods that I have hanging on the walls. I'm trying to force myself to at least go once this year. If not there's always next year.
Alingham Bridge is not great fishing for sure. Have to get down past the hatchery to find good slack water with lots of holes. I love living on this river ,Just dont have time to get on the river to fish because of work,maybe some day. There is one hole by Gorge Camp Ground before private property that has bigger fish.
Be sure to wet your hands before it touches a trout you are going to release.. To thrive they depend on the mucus layer instead of scales to prevent infection, parasites, fungus, etc that lurk in the water..😢
Yea, catch and release can feel that way to some people. It is definitely not offshore where there are bigger ,and you are fishing to catch something to take and eat.
