  • This hot dog chili recipe dates back many years ago when a lady I go to church with worked at a diner and would make the chili for the diners use. It is really delicious and can be used on many different foods. I hope you enjoy and thank you for watching.

Thank you Utube for splashing this 4 year old timeless recipe from one of the most loved home cooks that ever graced the Internet with her church recipes and those family recipes that we all grew up with and nobody ever remembered exactly how Grandma or Mom made it.
Over 600,000 of Jan's devoted followers watched this video and, no doubt, there are thousands of us, including myself, wondering about Jan's well-being.
Isn't there someone out there who knows whatever happened to Jan? She was a treasure and sorely missed by so many. 🤔😥❣️

I'm thinking that the 309 people who gave a thumbs down on this video either:
    A. Accidentally had their thumb slip off of the thumbs up button and they didn't realize it .... Or...
    B. They don't have a Granny and are mad about it..or....
    C. They aren't from this country/planet and don't speak English therefore they don't know a good recipe when they see it...
    I'm just sayin..... 😉
Great video and recipe from the sweetest chef on TH-cam! Thank you! I can't wait to make this! Yum!

I think maybe depending on where people live they may not have experienced this kind of hot dog chili (also called Michigan sauce or Greek Hot Dog Sauce.) And they might have expected it to taste like regular chili w/o the beans. Here in the North East we love this stuff! But I agree, there is no excuse for bad manners or ingratitude. This lady is an angel.

    For those requesting written directions:
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 large onion, finely diced
    1 tablespoon minced garlic
    1 lbs ground beef
    1 tablespoon paprika
    1 tablespoon chili powder
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1 tablespoon yellow mustard
    1/2 cup ketchup *
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    1 teaspoon salt
In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onions until they’re just translucent. Add the garlic and continue cooking until fragrant, but not browned.
Add the ground beef to the pot and roughly break it apart with a spoon. Add water to the pot to just cover the ingredients and bring to a boil as you continue to break apart the meat. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the liquid has reduced by half.
Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Simmer for 1 hour. Enjoy!
    * Jan states she adds 1 1/2 to 2 cups of ketchup, but it’s apparent from watching her that it’s considerably less, approximately 4 to 8 tablespoons.

My middle son lives a city away from me so him and wife come over whenever they can and want to eat my food. When i go to TX to see my daughter and grandkids cook for her and kids every day, whatever their favorite dishes are. Maybr cos I'm not a white cold mother who doesn't give a shit about what her kids eat. Btw since I'm not even 50 I have to work full time,so working isn't a excuse, but I'm a Mexican mother who loves her kids and hate fast food. I'm sorry about yours tho.
