I lived in the East Bay (1982 to 1990ish). There is a theory that the killings were done by a small group of "dedicated" Satanist. They had connections with crimes on the Presidio. And the connections get really strong as the "peek thru the pines" postcard location is investigated. Kathleen Johns (kidnapped with her infant daughter by the Zodiac) told police that he kept referring to "we, and us" when talking to her....

Also if you knew about animating you'd know just one of the videos probably took way longer than an hour....1 hour of animating is equal to about a 10-15 minute stretch depending how good you are and what technology ur using and also how detailed the animation is.

My dad worked at an oil refinery about a mile from where one of the murders took place. The following night he was atop an oil tank when he heard gunshots. He dropped to his belly but he knew he could still be seen by whoever was shooting.
Scared out of his mind he got on the radio. The police were called, but it turned out the shooter was an armed security guard in the industrial park next to the refinery who was shooting at jack rabbits. He didn't know anything about the killings that had taken place just up the road.

With the mispelling of paradise as "paradice", it made me think of how they caught the unabomber by analyzing his speech patterns in his manifesto
Star.....HIS BROTHER TURNED HIM IN. It was ONLY after his family reported that it might be the brother did they tie him to the letters. Then where he lived, what they found where he lived. His writings as a college instructor and writings found where he lived in that shack. The police profile was so off that it was basically useless. Take a look at that police profile from so-called "witnesses" and take a look at the killer when he was arrested. Not even close. In fact eye witnesses actually hampered the search.

And he saw it and understand that it was his brother and disides to write a letter to the squad that investiggate the case and a linguist Read the letter and understand right away that they were right and that the unibomber was idenified
I think the Zodiac was a few people under 1 alias.
Firstly, it would make the letter talking about control make sense. The letter could have been written by a member of the group that didn’t want to continue and only had one chance to show his regret.
Secondly, his multiple different ways of killings could be the different styles of killing across different people.

You fight. Many criminals are drunk in power. If you make them feel or perceive they are weak and you are stronger by not letting them induce fear they shrivel up and lose their bad intentions.
In my opinion, the Zodiac killer was a cultist. In both cracked ciphers he referred to his victims as his slaves in the afterlife. Perhaps he was part of a cult or neopaganism group in San Francisco. He also references "The Dangerous Game" as if he was a hunter hunting humans as elusive beasts. I think that locating the cult that shares his beliefs and seeing if they had a following in San Francisco in the 1960s and 70s might help investigators find him. Perhaps (though it's unlikely) the cult has a ledger of members with donations. Cult leaders are often frauds who manipulate vulnerable and impressionable people to pay them money and serve them as gods. If you locate the cult you may locate the Zodiac.
Even then, if the killer wasn't talking about it, bragging or sharing his story, you'd never be able to even file a charge.

He likely died in the 70s after the communications stopped. Probably from something like a car accident or something, likely nothing related to his crimes. There have been several copycats since then. But the original zodiac was too cocky and loved the attention too much to just stop taunting the police like that.

There's not a lot to really go off in the unsubs mo. For the most part what we can work with is that he was a targeting couples and often shooting the men more (could have had a past traumatic experience where a man was cheating with his partner) but then the picnic couple he decided to stab them instead of shooting. This time attacking the woman more (this could maybe give a clue that they closely resembled the people of his traumatic past and he was more angry with the woman)

Maybe the Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who actually got caught, but under a different identity, but if that's not the case and someone would want to continue the investigation, they should look for someone who's around 70-90, seeing as he was described as "around the 20s or 30s". OR maybe they are well and truly dead, because it's suspected he belonged in the rubber room, he could have committed suicide once he decided he had enough slaves.
I've heard so many different theories on why he stopped killing but I've never heard anyone say this. Maybe he was like terminally sick and knew he only had so long left to live so he figured he was gonna do anything at all that he wanted to do since there'd never be any repercussions for him, even if he had gotten caught what would it have mattered if he was terminally sick? So he decided he was gonna try killing as many people as possible and send the cops and the media ciphers that even if they were solved still wouldn't be helpful cause he knew that by the time they cracked the codes if they cracked the codes he'd already be dead.
Interesting idea. My theory is that he realized how lucky he had gotten to not be caught and quit while he was ahead.
