📌In 2021, there were about 123,000 serious violent crimes committed by youths between the ages of 12 and 17 in the United States, an increase from the year before.
I remember my youngest sibling stranging 6 chicks to death when she was just 5, when my mother asked her why she did that, she said those weren't playing with her. I was 13 and somehow I was terrified of her, however, my family handled her with care. The reason I mentioned is maybe some children are born with some kinda abnormality, but it's the environment that nourishes things further... Had Merry had a better life with more mature/responsible parents and healthy living conditions, things wouldn't have turned this way...
I listened to a podcast about Mary Bell, and it talked about her very tough childhood with her abusive mom. She wasn’t born evil, she had a horrible childhood (which obviously doesn’t excuse her actions) and she never got help from anyone because they thought she was just disruptive in school
She need hug and pickup after school and loving tiffin everyday even my childhood was bad I had no friends my whole school year got bullied everyday named as freak and parents on their own but I kept those in me even now I hate everyone.
Idk how I feel about this. Children can’t be diagnosed with personality disorders until age 18. Their personalities are still forming, which means they can be rehabilitated. Mary was not a psychopath, and she didn’t have an Antisocial Personality. At best, she had Conduct Disorder. Children who have Conduct Disorder, even children who have killed, have been rehabilitated. Once they are removed from the environment that caused their trauma, they have a much better chance. I’m glad to know that she was able to turn her life around, like many children have. I wish she had been able to get help before things got to the point where she’d taken a life.
1st, psychology is a questionable and often insufficient field of study. I say that as a surgeon. It would be baseless to make the statement that they can't be psychopaths.
It’s harder back then to see it coming It’s not like everyday a child might turn out like this Today with internet and media like TV we don’t rule it out
I was about 13 when I heard about her case. To me at the time and, even now, it was abuse that bred this events. Unlike Venebles she has been good since and raised a kid and grandkid with no other issues. She suffered horrendous abuse as a young child. No kid is ever born bad. As her family said they all had a part to play in the events by not calling out the abuse
I think she and her daughter should be left alone. As a child she endured demons like none of us should ever have to face, and that warped her so badly that she didn't feel emotions again until later in life, including that thing called 'empathy'. She has to live with what she did as a child for the rest of her life, but I don't think she is a danger to anyone. It's awful what she did as a young child, but let her purge her demons in peace. She managed to raise and love a daughter who turned out to be fairly normal, and that says a lot for someone supposedly incapable of feeling emotions.
I’m grateful for being raised in a good home. After decades of self reflection I know for sure that if I hadn’t been raised right, I’d have done very very bad things.
Hearing stories about other child killers I always partly felt bad for them. In terms of Mary, honestly I don't feel sympathy for her and I don't think she should have gotten a new identity
That's nothing. Thompson and Venables. James Bulger. Bell was a dark miscreant. Compared to these 2,' nothing. That was 1968, this was 1993. And FAR more evil.
Its odd. Alot of kids who go through trauma actually end up fairly intelligent conpared to alot of their peers. Not all go full psycho of course but a bunch end up with higher iqs. Could be a survival mechanism.
This story reminds me of an old movie called "The Bad Seed" that came out in 1956. She killed a couple of people. Neighbors and other people of the community wanted to help her, but her mother wouldn't let them. At the end, the girl died from a lightning strike
Mary Bell was not born evil, but the cruel negligience of her mother made her so. And several innocent children, including Mary Bell herself, had to pay the price.
Nearly all evil and criminal tendencies can be traced back to childhood. The reason they don't change is because we let them be - we think children are harmless without paying attention to all the warning signs and red flags that were there all along.
She was not born evil . Her issues were definitely cultivated. It doesn't excuse anything, but she was not born that way. How were none of the adults in her life charged
That’s not what the literature says, environment is definitely a factor and according to reports she was subjected to serious abuse. That being said there is a biological element that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Because the adults in her life had 4 other children who apparently didn't turn out as deeply psychopathic as this girl did, maybe? Stop making excuses for serial killers.
Tbf to Mary, her childhood was shocking. So I’m not surprised she turned out that way. She just needed some love and she’d turn out alright. This is why I frown upon neglect of a child, because it can easily turn children/young people into killers
Mary Bell's parents should have also been charged, as they raised that evil killer child to be that way. If they'd raised her right, she'd never have done it.
They had 4 other kids who apparently managed to make it through childhood without taking any lives, so that's a BS excuse. Making excuses for the killer psychopath.
So they shared bathwater, why again? To save energy? You can't build a fire to have hot bath water? Maybe you shouldn't have children if you can't afford bath water.
@@daverandall803 different times. Lots of people had done this all over the world. Some people in the UK and America didnt even have running water or electricity at this time. Though rare
The real villains are the parents who physically abused Mary, neglected her, and pimped her out to grown men as a child (which her mother actively participated in)
She wasn't born evil, she was literally pimped out by her mother. Doesn't make it okay that she murdered those toddlers, but circumstances definitely influenced her actions.
Temporary Psychosis is a thing, there is the little we have been told about our ut her upbringing and I'm sure there is a lot more that was never found out.
It turns out that when parents aren't responsible for their decisions things go wrong. This is obviously an anomaly. (special case) but I believe that most of the blame should be on the adults who didn't supervise or raise their children properly. I realize that they were impoverished, but then they never should have had kids in the first place.
It's sad she was mistreated and traumatized, but that's not an excuse, I don't care what age she was. That's an evil child, no question. Her getting released and being given a new identity is an insult to those two little boys she killed, andto their families. She caused those boys to die painful deaths, and that slate shouldn't just be wiped clean. I hope that in the next life she faces the justice she deserves, because justice sure wasn't done in this one.
mary is a human, just like you. there are no demons. what she did was horrible, but it was going to happen at some point in a place full of neglecting, poor, and somtimes abusive parents. while what she did was a million times worse than you saying she is a demon, the thoughts of criminals and innocent people that are different from you being either possessed or demons themselves made the world worse, and the amount of people being tortured and killed due to this belief is far far worse than what any serial killer(she wasn't a serial killer) accused of being a demon has ever done
