I own a Golden Retriever, the best dog I ever owned. I got him when he was only 7 weeks old from a breeder. Never had a problem raising him. But one thing I completely agree with you, his ability to eat more even after feeding him his regular meals. He eats pretty much anything you offer him. He did gain weight so my GR is under strict diet and by doing so, he lost weight and looks so much healthier right now (weight wise). He never bite any human or animal but does bark when he needs help . He is now a senior , still loves to walk & run. If his time comes to an end, I will be very sad and if I want to have another dog in the future, it will be another great Golden Retriever. ❤️❤️❤️
There aren't enough problems in existence to counteract the positives of Golden Retrievers. They are the single greatest dog breed in all of the multiverse.
My retriever is left alone for 6 hours,since I go to school and my parents work. At first we had problems where he would chew the wall and we had to keep him locked in a crate when we left but now we used to put a spray on the wall and stopped. He’s perfectly fine most of the time since he lost of toys to play with
There is no downside if you train them early and stick with it, like all dogs really. If you got kids even better, we had Zac for 16 years best dog i ever had.
This is my fourth golden retriever female. Your information is wrong abut one thing. Some females can get ver big as do some males. My first to females were sisters from the sme litter for my two oldest daughters. One was golden the other orange. My daughters named them Pumpkin and Taffy. At 8 weeks ol;d they weighed 12 and 14 pounds Pumpkin being the biggest. At one year they weighed 112 and 114 pounds and were big girls. They stayed at that weight all of their lives. Taffy only lived 5 years due to cancer. Pumpkin lived to 14 years and may have lived longer she was killed by a delivery driver's truck. The next one was Snoopy she was the runt of her litter. She belonged to my youngest daughter. She weighed between 70 and 75 pounds all of her adult life. We had to put her down at almost 14 years because she could no longer walk more than a few yards. Our last one is my dog Kayla. At one year old she is 100 pounds and the biggest of them all! She is lean and tall. She is the very best! They all never ate too much. in fact they would leave food in the bowl all day till they were hungry. Kayla ia no exeption. She loves treats but gets them when it's time. We hardly had to do any trining with her. She is not destructive. She did chew a pair of my wifes slippers as a pup and a plant stand, that was it. Potty trained in less than a week. She has a mind of her own and is super smart! We got her at 13 weeks old from a farmer 400 miles away. Friendlest dog you have ever seen, however very protective of my wife. The other dogs were very protective of my daughters. They were friendly untill someone was a threat to my daughters. Greatest dogs ever! They do not like being alone. Kayla is always with one of us unless like yesterday we ran errands for 4 hours, that is rare for her to be alone.
You know what my golden problem is? He’s always eating things out of the garbed and things he outside. This getting sick & throwing up and pooping in the house. He’s 2 and a half and it’s like the 5th time he’s done this! Every time we have to give him wet dog food and some medicine! I swear he laughs at us every time!
