Personally i swear by the Haidilao Curry Beef and the pork belly self heating rice packs as some of the best out there. The pork, while it's not big slices, the fat from them mixes right into the vegetables and rice, giving all the ingredients a good amount of flavour :>
That pork dish is one of my favorites at restaurants, the flavor from the fermented (dried?) green is like heaven to me. Wish I had access to the ingredients to make it myself…
I'm from China and alongside all varieties of instant noodles, these are all very good addition. And also, when you are shoppin in Chinese super market, don't forget to pick up marinated eggs and sausages. They goes extremely good with instant noodles and self heating rice.
I’m always impressed that DB will try almost anything. Those self-heating meals always look a bit…ominous to me, but maybe I’m just not adventurous enough. I’m also a vegetarian, so I’m less likely to find a meal that I’d like, but honestly, the tofu pudding and the tomato hotpot without the lunch meat and bone broth looked nice. But I’m more likely to look for a recipe to recreate them than to seek out these premade meals. But that’s my own personal hang up and I’m happy that DB shares his finds with us.
first of all, most of these are vegetarian because meat is harder to preserve. Secondly, these are so awesome! they're pretty expensive for the amount of food if you eat it at home, but i always get tempted to get one every once in a while. It's just fun pretending like its the end of the world and this is the last survival meal kit left. And they're decently tasty too

I think everyone should eat what they want without worrying what people think; I was just pointing out the ones that appealed to me, nothing else. And I’m not sure where you live, but most of these meal kits I’ve seen do have meat included, or at least come with a meat broth. I live in an area with a large population of Korean Americans, so I think their preferences are driving what the Asian markets nearby carry.

I live in Alberta, Canada and a few years ago I discovered self heating meals at my local T&T grocery store. They had some on special so I decided to give them a try. I was amazed at how much heat was generated by the cooking packet. Typically. they are a little bit expensive, but they are especialy nice when going out to the park or the beach.
Please, always hit the heating pad twice against your palm before use! It tickles a part of my brain that I never realized existed before I started watching this channel.

The self-heating hot pot is really expensive in US, about $9 per box. But it's so good and spicy. Add some sliced lamb and it tastes just like a hot pot store.
when trump get elected this will raise up to $15 or even more, in china the price is now cutting down to $2-$3 because there exist many other cheaper choices even for traveling
It wont be cheap if its sold in US though. Im sure some of these are available in asian market in US but the price would most likely quadruple this or more. Just how it is

These Hotpots are really nice. My family and me tried some of them for 12€/each. We had some chili hot pots. these were really tasty but hot too (too hot for all :D). Greetings from Germany

nah, when I went back to china in 2019, one of the things I was really looking forward to was to try a bunch of these self-heating hotpots that we don't have here in Canada, AND I was hoping i could get them really cheap... turns out it's actually about the same price, even slightly more expensive in China. So I have no idea how they got it for that cheap.
After the heating pack is in contact with the water, the heat will only last for ten minutes, so you don't have to worry about getting hot, and it will get cold after a while

There are many vegetarian varieties of self-heating Chinese food.Ask a Chinese supermarket owner and he will recommend it for you.
