- A quick repair on a Sony PS4, the disc would not load. I found a spiders nest in the loading motor. Cleaned it up and it works great now.

whoever watching this, I recommend just save for a ps5, sony confirmed they’ll stop supporting the ps4 in 2025 and with the announcement of gta 6 the old gens are just gonna be holding back new gens so just save a good $400 and u can get a ps5 in 2024 cuz prices will drop due to supply and demand

I have a question, is the roller that's connected on a white gear really not supposed yo roll? I cleaned the rollers on my PS4 FAT yesterfay and noticed that one of the rollers is not rolling/spinning....Cause if it's supposed to roll just like the right roller then i might have a problem with the gears on the motor side of the disc drive
Hello I have a question, i plan on replacing the motor and mini nithe board, I have the ps4 from launch what one do I buy and how do I remove it from the disc drive with using the sader
What are your thoughts on the PS4 laser assembly? When you remove the plastic covers you see there are components on the ribbons that look like the very small footprint SMD capacitors/resistors/inductors. I'm sure to fix a loser instead of replacing it would just require testing replacement of those components instead of spending orders of magnitude more on a new laser assembly.
Have you ever experienced on a ps4 dvd spinning motor not working at all? I suppose colui be something related with a motor driver but have no experience with this kind of fault, could also be a software related issue. I double checked the ribbon cable that connect the main board with the motor assembly pcb but didn’t find any issue. Would you mind to share some suggestions on how to identify similar kind of issues? The other motors are working fine. The main spinning stepper motor seems to work in some extent…Applying just a little voltage on some of the motor pins it’s definitely makes some step so I thought could be a driving problem…
If the optical pickup (laser) can not focus on the disc then the spindle motor will not run. Could be a laser pickup issue.
@@norcal715 thanks for your reply. I thought that without spinning the Laser could not read the entire track and just fade-up after few reading attempts.

If I read 0 ohms at motor what could be issue. I seen the and replaced fuse but I don’t read any ohms at motor plugged and unplugged.
The motor should read just a few ohms. What scale is your ohm meter on? If you read it on the 10meg ohm then 0 ohms is ok. on the 100 ohm range you should read 10-50 ohms.
@@norcal715 with power through the circuit, and I have checked I think all the fuses, the motor reads 0. I replaced one fuse that was common problem and it was not getting continuity.
I still don't know how you managed to open the back plate of the disc drive
Very carefully with precision cutters to bend the tabs back out.

You get some of the damnest problems to troublshoot. I bet that was really bugging the owner... Yuck, yuck, yuck... :)
