- The 2S38 in War Thunder is one of the most powerful and versatile vehicle that's ever been added to the game. I can't express this enough, the 2S38 is awesome.
The 2S38 has an autoloaded 57mm with APFSDS, APHE, HE and even a HE-VT Proximity Fuse Shell. It even has a tracking radar for Helicopters and Planes, Thermals, Laser Range Finder and a Laser Warning Module. It's fast, it's highly mobile and it's also extremely survivable due to there being no crew in the turret.
The 2S38 is the very definition of overpowered! So, let's see how the 2S38 gameplay is! :)

I think with gaijn adding this they should give the HSTV-L its final reload rate of 0.8 seconds and its proxy fuse rounds

Agreed. HSTV-L is a full BR higher despite only having Gen 1 thermals, twice the reload time, dogshit post pen damage for the only round it can use, and a meh ammo capacity. Hell if they gave HSTV-L it’s proxy rounds and real reload speed, I’d be fine with it getting a bump to 11.0

@@colejones594 technically yes, it had one of the first IRST tracking systems, designed to lock onto both ground and air targets. With that said, if that were to be added along with proxy, it’s true reload, and accurate round pen values it would have to be put up to 11.0-11.3. Even at that BR I don’t think it would be fully balanced

Thanks for proving ridiculously stupid people on the internet are. Try looking at the Sweden tree for 2 seconds next time you start up the game. Every other nation received 1-2+ vehicles as well.

HSTVL has no: radar, spalling, proxy rounds,
2S38 has: far better spalling on a smaller round, generation 3 thermals, proxy round, SPAA radar...

2S38 has exactly the same spalling as hstvl or even slightly less. hstvl also has better armor, much better mobility and hstvl is lower.

Lol, true. Russia has fucking 17(!) extremely competitive tanks in top tier line up, together with 3 broken heli's and MiG-27K.
Meanwhile Germany has 2 Leo's, both with horrible thermals and that's pretty much it. You die 2 times and it's over. 2vs17 is completely fine and balanced. No Russian BIAS at all comrade. You can die 15 times and still able to spawn out yet another T-80 variant. Absolutely disgusting.

@@user-br4qp4pw2o Lmao no, the ZSU-57-2 still has the full APHE belt with the same 151mm of pen and is completely capable of killing Leopards from any angle, unlike the Kugelblitz which got nerfed THRICE now - HVAP only on every 3rd shot, pen nerf to 77mm so it _conveniently_ just barely can't pen the sides of many russian vehicles with 80mm side armor, and now it's 7.0, up from 6.7.
The ZSU-57-2 itself never used the HE-VT rounds itself, only the chinese one did because they made them.

A gun that is so much better, that it has more pen on the APHE shell than the PUMA has on its darts.
ok so, Protip when fighting this thing: if you know where it is or where it is coming from, preload HE or HESH, as hitting the turret flush with that kills all of the crew beneath. but try not to hit the cannon unless you are facing the side of it, as the barrel will stop the explosive power from reaching the top of the vehicle.

Small caliber darts are completely f-ed up in WT, look at CV90, they basically have no spalling at all

I can see you've never played the PUMA. The gun will overheat and jam if you fire ~35rds continuously, which have less pen than the 2S38's *APHE* shells, and less spalling and half the pen of the 2S38's darts.
There is no proxy fuzed HE. The ammorack is as wide and half as tall as the turret itself, being more exposed than the 2S38's. The armor actually has spalling turned on, unlike russia's top tier tanks so you won't just lose one crew member when a dart penetrates all your armor.
Every coping russia main keeps saying the PUMA has better armor, but unless you have room temperature IQ, any darts at its BR will fly right through it. The armor is made to stop chemical rounds, not kinetic ones.

Non tandem, isn't top down, can't proxy fuze... All it has going for it is that on the rare offchance you spot something it can overpressure or something without composite armor, it's... somewhat useful.

@@stalinsmoonrover343 I've used the bagel a whole lot of games and you can definitely find success against any tank firing the missile into a weakspot.
I love how they give it APHE that has more pen than the PUMA's APFSDS AND a 200mm+ pen APFSDS and just make it 0.4BR higher than the PUMA. Why not just make the game an auto-victory for the Russians each time? Game starts and whichever side has the Russians (or more Russians for AB) immediately sees the victory screen.
Playing Russia is already easy mode anyway, so yeah, they may as well just make it even easier

Looking at that new map... Im convinced no human ever touched the development of it, the past couple ground rb maps feel like they're designed by bots.

Fun thing about the new map in the second game is that there is a spot where you can drive underneath the garages on stilts near B. Gaijin just plain missed putting collisions on one of the pilllars next to a ramp. My friend and I found it when we were messing about on the new maps.
I heard Gaijin doesn't make the maps. that they are outsourced to another company on commission.
Only gaijin would put a vehicle shown as a tech demontrator in 2020 at 9.7 against vehicles that dont even have thermals whatsoever
@CHAD THE BORIS Taking Germany as an example, the KPZ-70, radkampfwagen, Leo2K all do not have thermals. Theres other vehicles at the same BR with the same problem. The fact that Gen 3 thermals exist as the same BR as NO thermals is a BIG problem.

Russia 9.7 was already one of the best lineups with only two tanks (Turms and bmp-2m), but it was still debate able if it was THE BEST.....now? It's the best, non-negotiable.
funny thing is that whole lineup consists of horrendously under-BR'd vehicles besides the TURMS. The TURMS only needs to be 10.0, but the BMP-2M and this new thing should absolutely not be lower than 10.7

I am also colorblind and have the same problem that you have with seeing enemy planes or missiles in ground RB...that's why I tend to not play as any CAS and rather play planes in Air RB.

Russian Top tier tanks are given an artificial bonus to make them stronger, most well known is the fact that it's specifically coded so their top tier tanks don't have internal spalling when hit. Not to mention the fact that their turret racks rarely seem to detonate when hit, something that has been shown to be NOT the case as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Glad you said it Odd, it has completely fisted 9.7. I've died in my hind or any cas for that matter at over 5km to this thing at full speed because the shells and lead indicator are that good and the apfsds on it just completely demolishes everything. The puma was bloody strong when this came out but playing 9.7 Germany now is absolute pain.. also screw bmp2ms

Hey Oddbawz, great video. On another video I saw a comment saying that you could build a high tier lineup using Squadron and Premium vehicles only for USSR and actually it doesn’t look bad. While your videos tend to focus on one vehicle, I would like to ask you to try two lineups consisting solely of buyable vehicles.
9.7: T-72AV, 2S38, BMP-2M, Su-25K, Mi-24D.
10.7: T-80UK, 2S38, BMP-2M, T-72M2, Ka-50.
