Ahh yes, warthunder. The "realistic" game where tungsten and depleted uranium darts can easily penetrate 600mm+ RHA, but not 20mm of mild steel or a wooden plank.

My problem with top tier in War Thunder is that you have vehicles that are more mobile and capable then they have ever been and yet the matches are stagnant. Everyone is hiding behind their favorite rock watching their favorite two pixels and that it is it. In real life movement is life but in War Thunder movement is death so everyone sits. I also prefer bigger matches and, in my experience at least, I get those awful 6v6 fights CONSTANTLY at top tier - and it just exacerbates the previous stagnation.
i beg to differ, in real life there will actually be as much sniping as possible, you really think in real life they go brawl with tanks? they try to ambush as much as possible

@@Pryme. That's not really true, because in real life, pure tank battles are a fantasy. Tanks are always supported by infantry, and tank supporting infantry always have anti-tank weapons of their own. You absolutely cannot afford to sit on your ass staring through a scope when there are infantry sneaking around everywhere and a Javelin (or something similar) could come crashing through your roof with basically no notice.
This is why top tier is stagnant, because there is literally zero threat from infantry with anti-tank weaponry.

It’s not solely game problem though. People decide to fall back to camping when they do not have enough skill, knowledge and reaction to actually play somewhat aggressive. They got killed all the time they move cause they fail to see enemy even with thermals, fail to kill them in first shot, etc. All of which matters way less on 4.7/6.7 but becomes vital on 8.7+. Game issue is that it allows ppl with little to no experience go 10.7 from start. Those tiers should be locked behind grind, i.e. like helicopters are, you need to have at least one vehicle of previous tier researched to even buy top tiers, including premiums. Less noobs there are on top tiers - less camping, rock-simulation and such stuff will happen, games would become more active and less one-way stomping.
Is TUSK an objective disadvantage in terms of the current gameplay meta? Yes. Does it look cool? Yes. Would I equip it for that reason and that reason alone? Also yes.

Well, at least it makes sense why it doesn't work. The idea was to fight poorly equipped infantry, not elite tankers.
Well it’s a package aimed at countering infantry held armaments, not dedicated best anti-tank shells there is, which we are using in game. It was never supposed to work in the game environment or in real world tank-on-tank fight.
Lol watching those Russkie machines miraculously survive the 126 lb shaped charge warheads on AGM-65s is a really educational experience. They'd probably survive superheavy 16" AP too lol.

I personally like top tier, but I do completely acknowledge it's issues and that it's a complete fustercluck. I just like the chaos I guess. Or maybe I'm too happy to be driving an Abrams to notice that I'm dying on the inside. Who knows.

I wouldve preffered they buff the OLD abrams rather than giving us a new one i couldnt give less of a fuck about. Its just a band-aid. They need to just balance the US tree in general; theres so much shit thats missing stuff for no reason, being held back simply because "fuck US" or is over-BR'd for no good reason. Artificial nerfing needs to end.

Top tier, ah yeah. People clamor for the next, latest, shiny, up to date tank/aircraft. What do they do then? They discover what you stated in this video, it's a push button war. Flip a coin to see if you got knocked out by tank from 3 klicks away, or the helicopter you can hear but not see. Then they go play another game or watch some mind numbing crap on the social sites. Top tiers not really for me, as you say it doesn’t really have character. 5-6 Br can be so fun/funny people having a good time. 7-8 br has some really cool vehicles, jets and helis but still reserves some of that fun. Beyond that, small matches and expensive tanks. Some of the most satisfying kills are when you suspension wobble a firefly’s barrel to get the depression or get the right angle to take multiple hits in a heavy.
How about the new German halftrack with the 4 second reload, 100mm pen HEAT? Could take it up to higher BRs and see how well you do :D

In real life the A2 is so much nicer than the A1. The heater worked for one. And all the new toys made the A2 look like a Tesla to the A1's 1994 Tercel.

i been playing WT from the beginning, the top tier creep beat me off rather fast. I keep coming back down to tank rank 3 and 4 and been enjoying it for years. To me top tier is just the occasional experience, the fun is at low tiers. I came to WT for the ww2 airplane, it was absolutely awesome, top tier jets spamming air to air missiles just dont make it for me.
I look at the modern stuff as a"an itch to occasionally scratch". Generally when I WAS playing, I did 4.0-6.3 American to grind SL. But the economy was too brutal, so I just stopped playing after like 7 years. :/ Probably hundreds of dollars too, dollars I'm not proud I spent tbh.
@@stillcantbesilencedevennow the economy aint to bad, but if you are not above average you can not really get along without premium, the way i see it you have to pay for the premium account to get decent return on the time invested. Premium vehicles is another thing, and i have several, but that's completely unnecessary. My most played tanks by far are non premiums, but for grinding exp on unlocking vehicles it helps by a mile.

I grind and grind to get higher tier vehicles.... and then watch this. I don't feel like I want to be the baby seal that's getting clubbed. This seems like madness.

is there any BR/tier in this game that is fun to play? i mean i try to play mostly WWII but dont enjoy that due to all the post war/cold war tanks in it now! so if i dont enjoy that i aint gonna enjoy top tier....

Top tier is for people looking for action packed chaos. the thrill of being in a super shit situation 24/7 lmfao. And i have my moments where i really do want or urge for the modern battlefield although i prefer it in urban settings because long range maps at top tier kinda suck. (theres a few that are alright) and this is mostly due to the fact you can snipe at each others spawns.

Only thing you have at 5.7 is the m18 and m36b1 in the lineup. Oddbawz has gotten multiple nukes with the m18 and in the m36 he’s gotten high kill games.
Main issue is that you don’t have the backups to continue the fight. Only cas you have which is good at 5.7 is the re.2005
Thanks to the repair cost of the 2005 you will lose money if you use it in your lineup tho
The thing is, a lot of that is out of his control. You have to get fully uptiered to 6.7 to even have a chance to get a nuke.

You're not alone in top tier feeling empty. It's such a strange sensation to play like 5 matches at 11.0, then hop down to 3.7 or something. At top tier no-one talks, everyone leaves after 1 death, people don't help teammates, everyone sits in camping spots, and revenge kills are just the norm. Then you go to even like 6.7 and people are talking in chat, people will bring meme tanks just for fun, maps feel like reasonable sizes, no one country just stomps everything. It feels like top tier is a different game that is still in beta. All of the features work, but aren't finished or something. Helis are interesting additions, but they give no real way to counter them effectively. prototype vehicles are cool, but they don't have a br high enough for them to go in. I wish Gaijin would take a full season, not add any new vehicles, and just do a full revamp of all of the main issues. Server issues, balancing issues, changing imbalanced maps, fixing exploits, and reconsidering the BR system. Hell they could open the dev server and have weekly changes that people could test and give feedback on. I'm almost tempted to start some kind of community driven feedback thing where i just enter games and try to get people to answer what they think are the biggest issues, take a tally, and submit a backed response. If anyone who reads this thinks that might work, let me know. I might try that when school isn't so homework heavy.
I always wanted to reach uptier vehicles especially I want to get the sweet Abrams but the cost of the tank and the repair cost and shell's cost is discouraging for me... feels like im going to the top and feel more pain and suffering and eventually give up..

That’s why I don’t try to farm top tier (even though I’ve got a premium tank and plane, it’s just long without premium and no backups), I just get every WW2 tanks of every nations and have fun.
Low tier - fun tier. Even if someone drops a steel bomb on you at least you can shoot him back, feels more deserved than being sniped from 10km away. I play mostly ww2 tech, almost any nation, up to BR 7, 8, when thermals, helis and ATGMs get in, I get out.
6.7 is peak WT experience. Tanks are just tough and or quick enough to make the different types feel appropriate but it still requires skill and isn't jsut running around like a headless chicken like in Top Tier.

Maybe if Russia wasn't OP with their fake performing vehicles (We all see now how their equipment really performs), the maps were a size appropriate for the vehicles at top tier, and people didn't leave after 1 death then that might help out with the game at the top? To me top tier is not fun at all right now either.
It's a shame they couldn't give the sep the armor it's deserves. But them again they need to make sure the bvm stays top dog

A dev on the forums acknowledged it that has 3rd gen but then said it can mean the same protection or it could be weaker right after saying that he close the post so ya they are showing bias

Not gonna lie, with all these rounds being available for tanks, and yet you only take certain rounds for those niche circumstances, and use the best the majority of the time, I'd love to see Enduring Confrontation for tanks developed to add more variety in round choice.
Granted I know the problems that would cause and if it really has a place, but it would be a nice little game mode offered once in a while to maybe see if the concept works
I would love having a reason to take a full load out into a game. You could even bring things like fuel load into the game.
What WT needs is infantry for that to work properly. Most of the time tanks IRL don't even fight other tanks, its light vehicles and infantry that they deal with mostly. Maybe EC and infantry could solve that

Well its a package that was meant for urban fighting so it would seem silly in the video game but probably saved a lot of lives in real life. Especially the gunners perch.

Should it be completely impenetrable from all directions and killing enemy tanks just by looking at them so you get satisfied? It’s the “tiger is not that OP” whining over again.

Love watching these videos, especially the USA tech tree ones since I main it but a lucky match is 1 kill without dying but I dabbled in Germany and it’s extremely easy with the tigers and panthers. Even got a super pershing kill with a stug 3.

can you do a guide on how to fly properly? when to use flaps, keys that you use to loop while looking behind at the battlefield, basic stuff like that which I dont know.

One thing i really like is that after getting helped by an ally to repair, they immediately give you the option to thank that person back.

Interestingly, shattering is in the game but only on APDS. Happened to me all the time on leopard mantlets with the M60.
It´s actually in the game.. but the slider is turned every blue moon by the piss drunk janitor just to be corrected the next morning. I had it all the time some time back whit early APDS.. now it´s either ricochet or.. well gummi bear crew.
As a spectator (I don't play) top tier is a bit dull. Mostly because the tanks are so similar, as you said.

I enjoy 6.7 across the board. Even the Japanese have fun stuff there. But yeah German 6.7 is best lineup in game for just smacking out some SL

The reason why top tier is frustrating is because those of us who don't have top-tier premiums, premium accounts, etc. have to slowly grind out each component in a tier where everyone leaves after 1 death. And squadron tanks like the M1A1 AIM start with HEAT-FS as a stock round, rather than APFSDS, which just blows my mind.
my overall opinion on the tusk package is that it's sort of meh. I did save me like 10 times from stock Russian tanks, tunguskas and Leo's and you can somewhat side scrape bmp2ma with the Era package and the additional .50 is useful, however it makes the Abrams much more heavy. really depends overall on personal preference. would be nice if It had more ke protection to make it actually worth while imo

Bawz not wrong, top tier is kinda brain dead. you go to game and basicly who sees first wins. thats why i love low tier where the armour actualy matters. i love taking tank wich isnt good and have hard time to penetrate anyone, it gives me more reason to be creative with kills and you cant just push and shoot.
I do wish top tier would be more like low tier, i love the tanks and i still enjoy it but not as much as lower tier.

This tank is such a joke. After removing TUSK it's basically just an M1A2. Gaijin in their infinite wisdom believed leaving the armor values the same was logical when the SEP package is literally an armor upgrade. Yet, the LFP composite on the chest is literally garbage. Identical values to a fucking M1 Abrams. There is NO REASON to buy this tank.

Duuuude youre so right about top tier being kinda boring, 95% of the players just use the best premium pack thermal boi and the only reliable strat is camp and wait, kinda trash tbh, like hooow abouut some raaaaange atleast...., i also love when a ground attack jet like an su25 dominates every other fighter like wtf?
I noticed that every match I'm the weakest tank even if I move in rank so apparently until you get in the upper ranks the best thing you can do is track the tanks and help repair, it's the only way I've been a asset on the battlefield but it's so hard not to play😂

Nope I definitely agree with you about top tier. I love 8.3 but 8.0 and 8.7 are good as well. A lot of fun vehicles in those tiers. You get some of the benefits of top tier but not quite the same point and click experience.
