Update: On 15 December 2017, Google announced that they will be ending support for Tango on March 1, 2018, in favor of ARCore.

I'm afraid that my Zenfon Ar will not support ARCore because now it's not possible to run ARCore applications on it and write on forums that Tango stops working if you install updates for ARCore.correspondently does not work and arcore

so if I built my app atop ARCore and when it's ran on Tango device, will it get all Tango-device benefits (like, better tracking/mapping)?
It seems like that ARcore is not going to run on the current Tango devices which is extremly wierd!

The samsung a9 doesnt have arcore and i dont know why it literally has 4 cameras and one is depth sensor 😪😫

ARCore seems like Sony's AR App!!
all apps before arkit/arcore and tango(which is far more powerful) .......all apps before these ......used a marker to do ar.......this is just using the world ......so it's basically markerless
Honestly, I could never understand why Tango needs specialized hardware. I mean, except for the depth camera, it just uses BW input and extract feature points, which can be totally done with software.
Specialized hardware is the depth sensor. Nothing else. And that's why Tango have mre capabilities than ARCore or ARKit
monocular visual odometry is laughable compared to the dedicated setup with a depth sensor
It's no special gyroscope sensor. Every $200+ smartphones have it with capabilities enough for AR
Besides the depth sensor it also uses a dedicated motion sensor which is what allows it to keep it's position in space effortlessly. It also uses time by flight dot projector which again helps it build a more detailed depth map then you could do with a single camera.

Indeed arcore is advanced version of tango.
