    Today's video is another about Los Angeles, and I'm showing you guys what it's like to live on $100 for a week here. In LA, your money doesn't go as far as a lot of other cities in the US. It's definitely still doable though if you grocery shop and just don't eat at resteraunts and get a lot of ubers.

    I don’t know about you guys over there in the US, but in Europe a week normally has 7 days...

    • @limitlessbianca
      @limitlessbianca 4 ปีที่แล้ว +347

      In the US, people usually budget for 5 days because on the weekends they spend more money to 'treat' themselves. That's also how people do meal plans, because they want to eat at the restaurants on weekends and stuff like that.

    • @neabby
      @neabby 4 ปีที่แล้ว +416

      @@limitlessbianca If you're on a budget or low on cash you probably should include those two days too you know, and maybe actually not "treat" yourself every weekend.

    • @limitlessbianca
      @limitlessbianca 4 ปีที่แล้ว +122

      @@neabby I highly agree. That's what I find weird about the 'week' system in the US. But that's mostly just lifestyle of certain people.
      I got so worried about Shelby spending $70 within three days because I thought she would be stretching the money all the way to day 7.

    • @neabby
      @neabby 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@limitlessbianca Yeah, same, maybe 'cause "it's LA" too? As someone who had it pretty bad financially in a big city when I was younger I could't imagine excluding two days of the week and just not think about it.

    • @limitlessbianca
      @limitlessbianca 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@neabby No, based on what I watched on TH-cam. It's not just LA, it's almost nationwide. I went to college in SF. In my hometown, when we say 'weekly,' that means once a week. But my dorm gym instructor in SF thought I exercised every Monday to Friday when I said "I usually just go weekly."

    Seeing these videos has made me really realize I’m crazy frugal. Like I spend about $100 per month on groceries, and $80 on gas for my car. I spent a total of $25 on a couple things from the clearance section of Ross and a burrito from Del Taco when I went out last Friday and that was like a rare treat. If I’m hanging out with friends we usually don’t go out. We stay in and cook together and mix our own drinks, or pack snacks and go do something outdoorsy. On the rare occasion we do go out, my favorite pub has $3 beers and $6 mixed drinks (Which is crazy cheap in Portland! It’s much more common for drinks to be in the $12-15 range). I only see movies on Tuesdays because tickets are $5. I probably spend on average $50 per week most weeks on incidental spending like this. I’ve spent $0 this week.
    And... I’m happy. I don’t feel like I’m depriving myself. I still socialize and live my life. I have money in the bank.
    Don’t let these wealthy TH-camrs (who basically run their own marketing and advertising company because of all the sponsorships) make you feel bad about how much money you have. As long as you have enough to have the basics covered, you can still live a rich and fulfilling life.

    Real Los Angeleno here, I really REALLY have to point out a lot of misinformation here. This tends to be mostly on the West Side or DTLA. On the East side things are hugely different.
    For one thing, I do survive on $100 a week and from time to time, I eat a steak for dinner. How? Because I know where to shop to get good food at cheap prices and there are loads of latin supermarkets that have thin cut steaks or fresh fish at very reasonable prices. Taco stands sell $1.25 tacos and you can find them almost everywhere! If you want a healthy option, then go find a fruit stand for $5.
    Also, this person like to go out quite a bit...a lot of us don’t because we know how expensive it can be to go to a fancy club or bar. If we want to drink, we can easily go to the super market and buy a 24 pack for the same price as one drink of the rooftop bar.
    If you’re looking for cheap food for lunch...costco! $2 pizza slices, $1.50 hot dog/drink, or $5 salads (really large salads). Some costco stores have their cafe outside and do not require membership. While we are on the topic of costco, in CA, you can go to costco and purchase alcohol without having to have a membership. And again, there’s cheap food stands, Mc D’s, and supermarkets with options!
    And a lot of Los Angelenos don’t do brunch! Seriously! $60!!! A bowl of menudo for $10 will fill you up for the day!
    If you want sports entertainment, Stubhub gets you cheap Laker/Clipper/Kings/Dodgers/USC tickets! I can’t tell you how often I’ve found $8 loge seats for a Dodgers game.
    It is possible to survive with $100, but you are just doing that...surviving! If you want her life style of LA on the West side, there’s no way you can manage on $100 a DAY.

    I think you spend too much on your grocery.. you should do a meal planning and find a cheaper grocery store which has a lot of sale and discounts or you can use coupons, I always compare cheaper grocery stores every week to find which grocery store has a lot of sales. Uber is a big no no in my opinion. Me myself really seldom using uber I'd rather drive around or using public transportation than uber because it's cheaper than uber. And yes I feel you, I spent too much on social life especially eating out and Starbucks!! good job Shelby!!, awesome video

    I don't know how to describe what kind of content you have been making but I LOVE it. I guess its like "investigative", I really enjoy it, its very insightful and interesting, and I feel like Im learning a lot and hearing a lot of interesting information that isn't always exactly 100% directly relevant to my life, but still is applicable in informing other aspects of my life. I do like watching vlogs and sort of content that is a lot of "nothingness" but its nice to have stuff like this mixed in where it feels like there is more substance/useful information while also not being a struggle to get through.

      I slept in my truck for almost an entire summer. i had 10K in my savings but I was trying to save money and also was going through life changing or whatever experiment. I wasnt tied donw to a job or relationship anymore.
      Im ex-Gf went batsheit crazy after out baby twins died. I made around $80k prior...but anyways. i just slept in mu truck..near beaches. Became a sort of Beach Bum :-p...most of my expense was from Smoking Cigg.
      But I was clean. Took hot shows . Had hot meals everyday..at CHURCHES.
      went to $1 movies, $2 for starbuck every day...refills are only .50 cent, hung out at the beach different beaches all day. I even dated a super model . She asked me out. She was sneaky. Busted me in my own games..Wore her ripped jeans N sneakers..when she asked me out...she knew of me through a friend I met and hung out with...parked her BMW around the corners for weeks...while we dated. Then took me home to her mansion..2 story house over looking the Beaches.lmao
      It was weird ..I had a daughter I never met before...she too was a super model..
      she asked me to be closer to her and be there for her....I just threw my bags
      and guitar into my truck. I didnt even think twice. I left a GF I was living with
      at the time.( i only knew her for month...she still got extremely angery
      that I was leaving her , just the same). i promise my duaghter i would do anything for her..Talk is cheap..She straight up call me on it. I took actions.
      I had to put everything and everyone else aside...for once in my life.
      she had to be #1 in her life. It was only way I could make up for the pains
      Ive cause her for not being there for her. i had to make it right.
      It was kind of scary...Im just a small town boy...I woke up on a beach, 1000 miles from home near L.A. iT was like a different planet to me.lol
      For the first couple of weeks..I was slapping myself..WTF, I left a pretty GF
      to sleep in a god damn truck ..but my duaghter would call me ..just at
      those funkie moments of doubts I was having. It was weird.lol
      I didnt understood me daughter..My super model GF help me. She told me "GOD sent her into my life"....that was her pick up line.lol
      It was around $100 a week. Nothing fancy.but could be done. You dont have to spend money to have fun. Money wasnt the issue nor made any of us happy.
      My duagther went through millions before she was 20 yrs old.
      My GF just wanted to truly be love for being her...not for her looks or money.
      It was the same thing my daughter was going through.
      I never took any money from my duagther.she though I was crazy for sleeping
      in my truck and offer to rent an apartment... but I told her I had a super model as a GF. Lmao
