Although you spent a lot of money, I thoroughly enjoyed this video because of how real and honest you were. A lot of these videos end up being fake or the TH-camr cuts down for the sake of the video so good job!! ❤️

I loved your final take on it - seemed like a lot of the stuff you spent money on was worth it to you, but you also saw some stuff (like food!) that you could definitely cut back on. I feel like all people could probably benefit from doing an exercise like this so we could figure out the same!
This is an interesting topic and you are transparent, pretty and all that, but you're b-roll and editing game is A+++ and that's what knocks it out of the park. Good job.
$425, who did your hair, a freaking neurosurgeon?👀 That being said I was happy you paid your friend for working and didn't take advantage of her and try to get her to do it for free although she probably deserved to be paid $425 before the hairstylist👍
The whole time I was watching this I was thinking, 'I wonder what Graham Stephan would say..?' I was so happy to see you included that interview with him at the end!
I’m a 46 year old woman with two kids and my boyfriend living together and I definitely learned a lot from this video. We both make a good income but still we could cut way back on our daily spending as well. Another thing that made me VERY aware of my spending was missing my quarterly bonus (I missed it by two deal that fell thru at work 😩.) It was such an eye opener! I hadn’t missed my quarterly in over two years and I really had to cut back on my discretionary spending. Lesson learned. Anywho, I really enjoy your content and personality!
I downloaded the mint app and it’s literally the best thing ever because it tracks all your expenses and puts them in categories so you can see exactly what you’re spending money in without having to actually write it down. It’s literally been the best when it comes to recreating my budget 🙌🏽 but also a bit stressful seeing how much my husband and I spend on random things haha
To tell the truth if she makes a tremendously larger amount than what she spends then she's fine but if the story was different I would have changed the video to stop myself from crying
For me the irritating thing is that she spends so much for so little and acts like it’s just how it is in LA lol she could easily spend less and get way more for her money. For less money for example she could have a entire house, garage and yard 20 min or less from popular places to hangout. But she needs to live in the expensive trendy places and acts like that’s normal rent
@@reagan6743 you don't know how much food is priced here. New York city is even pricier. New York city transplants think Los Angeles prices are bargains. So' you don't know what you are talking about. The Los Angeles area is huge with no real system to reasonably connect to another community without being in traffic. Eating out is most certainly the best option for many. If you have a job or organization that you are actively involved in and you have to attend meetings or functions that are on opposite sides of the city' forget about it.
I noticed a trend. When it comes to your hair you spend WAY TO MUCH. Don't get me wrong you look wonderful but you definitely need to shop around and find folks who will do as just as well for much less. Perhaps make a vid on doing exactly that. Sure would like to see more U Tube related things. Happy Holidays 🎅🎄🥳🍹❄☃️
@Fuzzybucket regardless of what she makes the point of this episode is what she spends in a allotment of time. True spending this much on her hail won't leave her unable to buy food for a month. But the purpose of this vid was to see what she is spending money on and where she could improve herself. Definitely needs to spend less on her hair. 🎅
Shelby........I am way behind in watching this video, but I must say you did a great job with your financial information, and this video will help a lot of people to understand just how much things cost, even down to your Starbucks purchase. Your hair is not something you are doing each week, so the money you spent on that should almost be classified as a separate category on its own, but I get how you want to look good, and you definitely do.....you have the look. Thank you again for making such a great video. You always make it informative, engaging, and your time frame is spot on. As a viewer of many videos, I find yours to be above just about all of them I watch, except for many one or two. Kudos to you. Keep it up!
I don’t understand why you spend so much on your hair. I know you are aware that you spend more than the average SoCal girl from your past video comments. Such a rip off to spend $425 on highlights. I get a full highlight and haircut in Long Beach for $165! Just drive 30 min and save hundreds. It seems like you think only Beverly Hills will give you good results?
MAR SAN doesn’t matter how much money she makes compared to me. Being ripped off is being ripped off. I could understand if she was getting a better service or better results but I mean her hair just looks like an average highlight appointment to me. Makes no sense lol
@@Melissy101 Beverly Hills its expensive everyone knows that, Just saying when people makes a lot of money, they don't need to save money or look for discounts.
For being a person who cooks alot, like... every meal, every day besides Friday lunch and dinner. I couldn't get take-out that much. But I respect the amount of work you do.
Every time somebody spends that kind of money on Sweet Green, I twitch. It's a little frustrating prepping and cutting everything you need for a great salad, definitely, but if you take maybe an hour to cut up everything and store it in your fridge, you'll have all of your salad fixings ready for the week. And thanks for calculating your fixed expenses here! It's so helpful.
Those salads are a steal. They are healthy and packed full of different ingredients. You can’t make that at home for same price when you consider time. I think you are an efficient spender. And better to spend more on your hair instead of not liking the results. Bravo
Can we all give respect to shelbs for ACTUALLY PROPERLY ACCOUNTING FOR HER MONTHLLY EXSPENSES instead of buying stuff for a week and being like, "oh i spend this much i guess"
Great video and finally someone who calculated everything! And I think, yes it's a lot of money ( especially for the hair😅) but I think it's not over the top. It's a lifestyle in LA and for that it's fine.
The money you are “spending has been taxed”. So add 38% to your total at the end of the day. If something costs you $10. You have to earn $14 to end up with $10. What you pay is not what the total thing cost.
It's incredible how stuck I am with...you and your videos. I discovered you yesterday with the video 8h trip with a Tesla and I'm still getting pumped on every video. I simply like the way you make them, create them, and show some truth there! It's funny for me because I'm not usually fallowing female TH-camrs so...that's kind of big LIKE button for you! Not really a fan of how much you the money you spent on a week - but I also think that when you produce a lot you should also focus on yourself a bit. Greetings from AMS, NL
Well, you aren’t rich then. I mean, would you call someone rich who makes $10,000 a month and spends $20,000 a month? Who is actually richer? Someone who makes $3000 a month and spends $2000 a month or someone who makes $5000 a month and spends $6000 a month? Exactly! It’s not about how much money you make, it’s all about how much money you keep!
Another thing that’s great about banks is that your money is insured (up to $250,000 ) so if something where to happen you will get your money back compared to if it was in your house where there’s nothing that can be done.
I am so confused. How does it take $425 and 5 hours to color roots? Aren't there boxes of coloring things at Target for cheap? Also aren't salads supposed to be a cheap alternative to a real meal?
OMG. I know right.?!? And why spend $9 for a drink at a bar plus tip? You can soooooo save buy buying a liter of whiskey and sitting at home and drink . plus, you dont need to waste money on washing a glass if you drink from the bottle.
I don’t look at certain bills by the week. Like rent, car payment , utilities, etc. I look at those as monthly expenses. Weekly expenses to me are gas, groceries, eating out, entertainment, etc but I don’t have to budget for that. After I Budget for my monthly bills and saving, what’s left over determine how much I have to spend weekly.
This is crazy ! Do ppl even cook ?!! When I moved out, I was working a job that barely covered my rent. I *had* to stop eating these *$15* salads and all the BS I started going to the local markets every weekend and would buy groceries, chicken or fish or meat .... with some occasional canned tuna. And l would cook breakfast and take lunch with me everyday. It was much much better food and super cheap compared. I had rice, chicken and salad for lunch which you could pay for like $30 in a restaurant. I paid about $40 a week for my food, and I eat a lot, I'm a 235 lbs man. I used to eat very well. That salad she ate, the actual cost of making it at home is like $3. I used to do a big bowl of tuna salad, I had my own spin on it. And it would last me 3 days, I would pack some everyday when going out. I cooked on Sunday some of the food to last me most of the week, I'd do the chicken and rice, keep the salads in containers, and the other stuff I'd do would just be everyday thing easy to make. Coffee too, never paid more than $1.5 for a cup, I had my own machine which my mother gave me at home, and I would get ground coffee from the market from a guy there, $4-6/lbs and that lasts through the month if I drink one cup in the morning ! So advice for young men and women out there, learn to go to the markets and cook for urself, trust me, you'll save a *ton* of money !!
What’s your big bowl of tuna salad recipe? Would love it if you could share, I’m trying to make as much healthy food at home but the prices are still high!
Awesome video. I seen a couple of this and most people actually downplayed it, what I mean by that is there was this girl/guy I don't remember, and surly his lifestyle isn't $200/week and somehow he/she managed to calculate that much for the week in NYC. Anyhow, glad to see someone actually willingly show that a haircut is $400. I think it's awesome that you are transparent about it. 😊 This video somehow makes me miss LA a lot...
I've watched a lot of "what I spend in a week" videos and I have to say I'm so impressed with the style of your video. Very "classy documentary" style.
Hello! I'm also 24 and live in Los Angeles. I can see you're very active in the culture down here! My typical weekly costs are somewhere between 100-200. I buy about $60 of food every week... about $60 in gas (honda), and the rest gets spent on very random things. But with this quarantine it's went down to around $100-150/week now because I cannot go out to eat anymore :(
How come it takes 6 hours to partislly highlight your blond hair? I have the same length and it took 4 hours including toning + cut & blow out! I'm so confused lmao
The most I’ve ever paid for hair is around £250 in central London for highlights, cut and a bouncy blow dry. Wow LA is sooooo expensive! Wow. Ps: I love prosecco too xx stay classy babes
@@Nate.Wilson True! That's why I stopped working so much. The more you earn the more they take you, like if you earn 30$ an hour the net pay is 20$, it's ridiculous. Now I work no more than 2 days a week, my salary is low so I don't pay much taxes and I also have a lot of free time to really enjoy life.
Ok $425 IS above average, but not unheard for Los Angeles. Also, Shelby probably tipped well! I remember spending a long time researching a new salon and finally picking one that was highly-rated in Culver City and only "$$" on yelp and my cut + balayage still came out to $360. This is not unusual, especially on the westside. A person could save probably $100 by driving an hour to somewhere just outside LA, but that's a hard sell when you're already spending 4-5 hours in a salon chair that day (seriously, with an hour each way then we're talking a 7 hour day just to get your hair done). Lately, I've been saving money by coloring my hair at home (switched to a solid, deeper color) and just going into the salon for haircuts. That works for me, but it would harder to DIY your color when you're trying to maintain blonde!

Here's a tip: Never save your credit card information when the website/Google asks you to. When I make online purchases using a credit card, I have to manually type in the numbers, name, address, etc EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I mainly do this for security reasons. If my account is ever stolen, at least they cannot easily spend my money. But a 2nd reason is that I cannot easily spend my money either. It takes extra effort to input the information. Everyone is complaining about how much she paid for her hair, but you need to think about it from the stylist’s perspective. She said it took 5-6 hours, at $50 per hour (stylist’s rate) that’s $250-$300 plus the cost of products & resources such as electricity & water. Running & working in a salon isn’t cheap and people need to be paid accordingly
I'll be honest, post mates hurt me more than the expensive hair. In my head women always go nuts on their hair (sorry), but post mates is entirely avoidable and with a Tesla in the picture the run to get food is just not a chore. Plus the frunk is great at keeping smells out of the car.

Although you spent a lot of money, I thoroughly enjoyed this video because of how real and honest you were. A lot of these videos end up being fake or the TH-camr cuts down for the sake of the video so good job!! ❤️

What a sympathetic girl. I wish you the best in your life 🙌🏼

I noticed a trend. When it comes to your hair you spend WAY TO MUCH. Sure would like to see more U Tube related things. Happy Holidays 🎅🎄🥳🍹❄☃️
The things is her hair doesn't even look like she spends that much on it...smh
@Fuzzybucket doesn't matter
@Fuzzybucket how do you know. Where does her streams of income come from?
@Fuzzybucket regardless of what she makes the point of this episode is what she spends in a allotment of time. True spending this much on her hail won't leave her unable to buy food for a month. But the purpose of this vid was to see what she is spending money on and where she could improve herself. Definitely needs to spend less on her hair. 🎅
Opp's, meant "hair" not "hail".🤪

She probably makes 10 times more money then you. That's why is really easy for her spend that much money.
MAR SAN doesn’t matter how much money she makes compared to me. Being ripped off is being ripped off. I could understand if she was getting a better service or better results but I mean her hair just looks like an average highlight appointment to me. Makes no sense lol

This is like a live millenial money reaction (towards the end) brilliant.
Refreshing to see someone being honest on these videos
$15 bucks for Salad, good lord we can have a buffet for that price.
It's not that much considering she lives in LA
Those salads are a steal. They are healthy and packed full of different ingredients. You can’t make that at home for same price when you consider time. I think you are an efficient spender. And better to spend more on your hair instead of not liking the results. Bravo
Can we all give respect to shelbs for ACTUALLY PROPERLY ACCOUNTING FOR HER MONTHLLY EXSPENSES instead of buying stuff for a week and being like, "oh i spend this much i guess"
This is so great! love the way you nail things down. Very specific and sharp
“Why! You realize you can get a wig” 😂
The richer you are the more you spend.
Eleonora Ponziati let‘s call it financial fluidity then
Exactly! And the more the IRS takes too.
Tell that to Sam Walton or Warren Bufffet. lol
Correction: The richer you are the more spending power you have
Another thing that’s great about banks is that your money is insured (up to $250,000 ) so if something where to happen you will get your money back compared to if it was in your house where there’s nothing that can be done.
Am I the only one who really likes her voice?
I am so confused. How does it take $425 and 5 hours to color roots? Aren't there boxes of coloring things at Target for cheap?
Also aren't salads supposed to be a cheap alternative to a real meal?
Not really the hair product from the store is normally cheaply made and from a salon is better materials
OMG. I know right.?!?
And why spend $9 for a drink at a bar plus tip? You can soooooo save buy buying a liter of whiskey and sitting at home and drink .

I *had* to stop eating these *$15* salads and all the BS
I started going to the local markets every weekend and would buy groceries, chicken or fish or meat .... with some occasional canned tuna.
Sometimes ' but there are people who have a lot of obligations to their time. Delivery or dining out is the best or only option.
What’s your big bowl of tuna salad recipe? Would love it if you could share, I’m trying to make as much healthy food at home but the prices are still high!

Here's a tip:
Never save your credit card information when the website/Google asks you to.
