    I got to go on Sunday and Excalibur is easily the most underrated coaster I have ridden. It packs a serious punch I wasn’t expecting. Those unbanked airtime moments are fantastic and the laterals complement them so well(also they are selling pieces of the ride they have redone for only 20 bucks which I got) I don’t feel like I’ve ever heard any say that. But go get a piece of your interested

      Where were they selling the pieces of Excalibur this year? I got a piece 20 years ago.

      I feel like coaster fans are sleeping on it right now. Just the fact that there's a big CCI in this tiny park in Maine is remarkable. But it's a really well-maintained one. It might not have been as much of a standout when it was first built but for it to be running that well in 2024 is an accomplishment.
      Aside from it not being a racing coaster, the ride experience reminded me a bit of the last CCI I rode, PortAventura's Stampida. But it's a bit smoother, taller and more forceful than Stampida, with more emphasis on laterals.

    The Funtown Flying Trapeze ride can get intense if you pump your legs just a bit. It whips you forward tilting your seat and will send you flying into the seats around you. Also on the Casino ride you can pop yourself up out of your seat just a bit to get floater airtime. Love this park!

      Any swing ride can if you do that, but some operators frown on that.

    Same top 4, I didn't ride the log flume. Excalibur was running so smooth, and the forces delivered far more than I thought they would. It exceeded expectations more than any other coaster on the trip. Triton's Twist wasn't as bumpy as I was expecting. A swim shirt would have still helped, but those also slow you down. Maybe an uncommon opinion, but this park became by far my favorite of the smaller parks in New England.

      Triton's Twist can be slow even without a shirt. It's a bummer that slide isn't better.

    That indoor scrambler in a dome with ELO sounds awesome. The visuals remind me of being in the Planetarium when homie would blast "Age of Aquarius". Awesome class, easy A.
    That log flume looks cute. I always wanted to be the guy on the top in the room before the drop who smiles and waves at the riders, but they usually save those jobs for graduates from Michigan, Stanford, or some of the other public Ivy schools.

      The scrambler is epic.

    I agree with the top five. I really enjoy the Sea Dragon and would rank it several spots higher than 15. It's smooth, has a thrilling stomach-dropping sensation in the back rows, and doesn't make me dizzy at all.

      I'm usually not a big fan of swinging ships, so that's a high placement from me.

    I just made my first visit to Funtown last weekend, did far from everything and even though it's a small park, I feel like there's still a lot to discover there. It's interesting to compare it to Canobie: it's about the same size, but with a much larger waterpark and a much smaller dry park. Yet the top 4 or 5 rides in the dry park still blow away anything at Canobie, probably mostly because of less challenging zoning/neighborhood restrictions. I'd probably rate the Haunted Hotel (Whispering Pines Hotel? this ride has an identity crisis) as the park's #2 attraction after Excalibur, but that's mostly because I'm neither into drop towers nor that fond of really spinny flats. Still, it's hard to deny that the Astrosphere is the best Scrambler.
    Excalibur is an astonishingly good coaster and immediately became one of my favorite wooden coasters. Given how well it's running now, it makes me feel like there's an actual future for wood in general, maybe largely because Gravity Group's precut track offers an impressive alternative to steel retrack options from GCI and RMC. It'll be interesting to see how that stuff holds up over time.
    Canobie has it soundly beat for games, shows and food, though. The BBQ place here is, uh, not great.

      The French Fries are the only good food item still there. I usually go to Old Orchard Beach afterwards and eat there.

      Most in the US have signs against it and a lot of ops give warnings if you do it.

    I really enjoyed my time at this park last month. Excalibur was worth the visit. I thought it was odd that there are "no single riders allowed" signs for a few different attractions but none of them were enforced. Were those signs always there?

    • @MattMcIrvin
      @MattMcIrvin 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Gee, I didn't even try to ride the Mouse, maybe I should have.

      @CanobieCoaster  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Those signs are new. The intent is no single kids. They allow single adults to ride things. They really should clarify them.

    I knew Excalibur was going to be number one. I was wrong, however, thinking that Dragon's Desent would be number two.

      Dragon's was closer to 4 than 2.

    Astrosphere has definitely been faster the last couple years. I feel like just before the new dome was built the speed has been increased, and a bit more recently. From about '03 to '15 it was fairly slow.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They did increase it slightly, but it is still slow for a scrambler.
