The hardest challenge I find of getting out of CFS, is the expectations that society puts on us all in this very fast paced world. I enjoyed Lauren talking about her dogs and taking them for walks, I find the simple pleasure of taking my beloved dog Lulu to play in the park so wonderful and healing. The unconditional love from your pets ,and giving them the care they need I find for me anchors me to the important things in life and that helps settle my emotions, but I also feel more connected to myself and that make me feel okay. Getting out and connecting with nature helps get things in perspective, going gently slowly and rebuilding your capacity in a good way, and I agree chocolate is good in moderation( because it is so enjoyable!)

I could relate to what Lauren said almost word for word. Am working on recovery from 15 years of fibromyalgia. I really thought that I was a pro at feeling my emotions. In reality I felt anxious all of the time and am still find it really hard to discern any other feeling. Journaling seems to help - pouring out anything and everything, regardless of how childish or ‘bad’ it sounds, destroying it immediately and then soothing with meditation

This has been SO helpful to hear as so similar to how I operate despite having a health condition (not ME but chronic breathing and congestion issues that take over my life - SIBO, GERD, asthma). Excited to hear the watch of Lauren's videos. As I ate choc today I could see what I was doing - keeping going at all costs. Rest is VERY difficult for me as I feel I have too much to do. I'm having a 2 prong approach - 1. find ways of reducing things to do (get dishwasher, delegate, buy more property and have it managed instead of running a labour intensive business. 2. Learn to chill out, be OK with relaxing. I come from a family of do-ers! Thanks both 😊🙏❤️

So right about how easy it is to forget where you've come from. Last year I was bed bound and today I played cricket for almost 3 hours, never satisfied - I just wanna be fully better!!!

I struggle with emotions too so this was very relevant to me. Thanks to Lauren for being brave enough to share this. Thanks also to Alex and the team.

This so reminded me of me before I stopped teaching and CFS. I take life at a much slower pace now and for the most part actually enjoy it. I'm in stage 3 of CFS - now just have to get over that hump. Slowing down and listening to my body and mind has really helped me - thanks to the teachings of the OHC. I'm very thankful I went on the 90 day programme. Well done Lauren- you are a brave soul and you'll get there 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing your experience Lauren, it means a lot to be able to see other people's experiences with recovering and how many things we all have in common. Good luck with the rest of your journey back to full health - and regular dog walking!

I love these videos. I can relate. My escape is alcohol. I struggle to stay stopped once I've given up the bottle. My question is about feeling your feelings. What exactly does that look like? How long should I stay there? How do I move on from them. Thank you. Best to Lauren!!

There were a few things that hit me hard with this. Well done Lauren for having the courage to be so frank and honest, it's really helpful. 👏

Very good video thanks for sharing Alex. Have struggled to connect with Lauren's story in the past because I haven't had the highflying career etc and was struck down during sixth form but I can definitely see a lot of the same patterns, core beliefs etc.

I've been doing Qi Gong for a while. It's a great practice, grounding and meditative. But I eventually realized I was missing 'the words'. That's where I have found these sessions so helpful. eg: Alex named tapping as a supplementary aid to calming your nervous system. I think Qi Gong is similar. Learning the words to talk directly to my body about how to relax.... that's the source I needed to create a safe haven within myself. That said, I'd still never give up Qi Gong! :)

My son and I are at opposite ends of the MBTI spectrum, in fact his Dad and his brother are too. He was the one emotional extravert among us. I was moved by Lauren's comments about her Mom, and her realization that she unknowingly contributed to Lauren's issues. I feel that way about Eric, and have never figured out how to say it to him. How terrific the video provided the context for Lauren and her Mom!! And hopeful!

This is extremely helpful. People have been calling my lack of energy to do things (although I want to do them) depression for years, but I understand now from this video that it's because of my way of dealing with emotions. I would be very curious to find out how to better "feel my feelings". Are there any tools or techniques I could use?

Thank you so much for this- I think I’m stuck in this very cycle myself right now. Thank you for describing it in so much detail so I could identify it in myself and also clearly describing the next work required.

What a great session! It really makes me think...I can so identify with these coping patterns and what drives them. Thank you!

I have the same situation about seeing people and thinking, "I don't get to feel that." I feel like I don't get to feel and I don't know why, even though I've done a lot of work on it.

Yikes about saying you're not well if you depend on meds though!

I went to a physio who was always on the go. She talked like a thrashing machine and did no treatment on my injuries. It was a huge waste of money.
