I have had success with many small ventures but junk removal is something i keep coming back to that i truly enjoy and i still have made my most $$ in a day to date from junk removal! Your content has been a huge inspiration to me to level up my equipment and go full on towards junk removal and stop wasting my time doing other things that I enjoy less and make less cash. I currently have a 2013 f150 and a 5x8 utility trsiler with 4' walls i built. Your story of starting out with your 2015 silverado and just babying it is pretty much exactly what im doing with my truck right now lol... This truck is my baby i bought it brand new and its paid off - still has low miles and is super pretty, so hate to be working it like this. I'm thinking of maybe trading it in though and getting a 3500 and a dump trailer. Thoughts? Recommendations? Anything helps! Thanks again for all you do!!

I’ve got a lead on a 2015 Chevy 3500 gasser with 114,000 miles and with my trade in it would only cost me $260 / month for 5 yrs. to have this big boy. I drive a 550 dump truck for work daily. I only have a few complaints, when the box is loaded heavy the steering can be a bit floaty and the fact that you cant see a dang thing behind you. You learn to heavily rely on your mirrors. Turning left onto a divided four lane road can prove to be challenging because if you cannot make it the whole way in one go, you have to stop in the median slightly turned to fit between lanes and that puts oncoming traffic to your right in your blind spot.

    Hi Steve! Love the insight you gave in this video. I'm in a peculiar situation. I own an auto detailing business. And although I have been able to grow it successfully by myself, it's an incredibly difficult business to scale simply due to there not being many people who know how to professionally detail efficiently. Before I started my company I had wanted to do junk removal, but I went with what I knew. I currently have a transit van which once I pay off, I plan on trying to sell the business outright and then buy a dump truck similar to the one in this video. My question is, junk removal is very different than detailing. I can go on a community group page on facebook and say "is anyone interested in professional detailing services" and easily get clients that way. But junk removal is different in a marketing sense. When I buy a dump Truck, what are some ways you recommend getting my feet wet pretty quickly and hitting the road?

    • @SteveConroy1
      @SteveConroy1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AJayJayBear You can do the same thing with dump trucks. I personally like dump trucks because their easier to maneuver in tights spots especially around the city.

    • @AJayJayBear
      @AJayJayBear 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SteveConroy1 Not knocking the maneuverability, but there is simply no way a dump truck has more capacity than a dump trailer. Even if the beds were the same length and the sides are built all the way up to the legal height limit, the dump trailer floor sits 2 1/2 feet lower (like you mentioned) giving the trailer more capacity. The dump truck would only have more capacity if the bed was longer than the dump trailer bed. Good to have the best of both worlds though.

    • @SteveConroy1
      @SteveConroy1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. As long as you don't get snowy, icy conditions in your area, and you don't travel through landfills that can get muddy you'll be fine with 2WD.

    • @SteveConroy1
      @SteveConroy1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In MA the rule has always been, if you don't do work in other states you did not need a DOT number (not sure if that was for equipment over 26k GVWR). Now coming up in 2021 all businesses with vehicles and loads greater than 10k GVWR will be required to have a DOT number. I already have my number I just don't have it on the equipment.

    Another concern may be the transmission on the trucks and engines, is that truck able to pull that type of weight easily or is it going to wear the truck out fast.
