If anyone hasn't noticed, that pedal thing he presses with his foot copies and plays back continuously the pieces of sound he makes with his electric violin, so that every time after he presses that pedal, more and more sound is stacked on top of each other. This creates the effect where one person sounds like a group.

This guy is just EXCELLENT! He's basically put on an orchestra performance by himself, on a street corner, and deserves every dollar they dropped for him. Keep it up man, chase the dream.

who is this guy when i heard him I cried, my twelve year old daughter that plays the violin will not practice, I really appreciate his dedication to his art.

+Ingrid Ledbetter no offence but when my parents forced me to play the recorder for grades and not as something i did willfully ( i practiced when they weren't in) not only did it screw up my relationship with my dad even further, i stopped playing an instrument and it is something i will always regret. please , don't force your daughter to play , you may discover you become the reason that she stops playing music if you push her too far. ( i once loved to play music )
(as of edit) i am now 16 and have yet to pick up an instrument again.

Awesome! I hope he gets a regular job doing this, if he doesn't already have one.
This is his regular job, actually. :) He travels the west coast up and down. I was a street musician for some time, as well (on the east coast of the U.S.-- mostly northeast). In many places, you have to have a permit (i.e. Harvard Square on the east coast, Provincetown on the tip of the cape in Massachusetts and in the subways). I used it as practice time (solo act) playing my acoustic / electric guitar and sang to get ready for my night gigs with my band. I could sometimes bring in a few hundred dollars a day. You have to be tenacious and committed (and have some talent). It can be quite enjoyable when you are young and can travel and still lift heavy equipment like amps. It's a bit harder when you want to "settle down" and have a family (which is why I am now a doctor), but still play and sing occasionally for fun. :)

On the streets, I played mostly my originals -- world beat, blues, eclectic, jazz, rock. I played mostly in the Boston area and even had a permit to play in Provincetown (on the cape in Massachusetts). Sometimes I played in Philly (my hometown). I played alone as a street musician during the day, and then I traveled at night with my band to play other paid gigs. I also worked as a sound engineer in a studio and got paid to be a backup vocalist on albums that many other musicians made. It was a lot of fun in my 20's. :)
