MORE like drifting with a coach bus! - since this was the first ever view I had of the An-2 - after the video I googled it for an external view of what this thing actually "looked like". My reply? - holy CRAP!!!!! this is NO a sky lane or a simple 152 size at ALL..this is a freakin BUS! The pilot is amazing as are the characteristics for the plane itself WOW! simply AMAZING footage - THANK YOU!
Itapirkanmaa2 - "The technique seems to be to put the plane into a series of sideslips in order to defeat the lift from the huge wing area." Defeating lift is something called a stall. Reducing lift is done by simply lowering the nose not side slipping. Sideslip is done to increase drag - allowing for a rapid descent without building up speed. Here the pilot is done some power off stall turns. It is hard to see if he using slip but the AN would be able to descend like a controlled brick with its massive fuselage presented.
Jeff Williams: lowering the nose and thus speeding up will increase lift.. not the other way around. It will also increase drag as well, as those two parameters (lift & drag) always increase and decrease together but in different proportions.
"The one with the original engine"? all AN2 use the same radial engine, a 1000hp Russian Chvetsov ASh21 (very near the Wright R1820 from the DC3), or the Polish built PZL Kalisz (same engine). But the AN3 was fitted with a 1375 hp turboprop ...
Ребята, расскажите, как вы это сделали? А то нас еще в аэроклубе учили (летал на Як-52 в 1985-86 гг.), что "сарай" можно заставить крутить пилотаж, разве если ему предкрылки пришить намертво к консолям крыла...
Wow, surely it's very fun to watch! But is this fast descent rate normal for a similar sized plane or is it a An-2 peculiarity? Like the extremely low stall speed, I mean. It is expecially impressive the speed bleed rate before landing, it slow down extremely fast (or it seems so!). Thanks for the video, I'm in love with this special plane lately... :)
This is not only a fast descend :D LOL...Its a freakin Acrobatic flying in AN2 ;) I wanna fly it one day. In about 1-2 years or so. I just need to gather the money to find the one with the original engine....U have any ideas? :)
if i just hear the noise without seeing the video, it just feel like inside an old school bus with all the windows open hehe. is it true that this airplane has not stall speed?

To me… the greatest of all planes. 35 mph stall speed. It’s not a marble on a plane can go fast it’s more in Marble when they can fly slow actually harder to do

best plane in the world! and perfect video, give us more! :)
best regards from Croatia
After leaving the aircraft at 4,000 metres, I have watched a C130 do the same sort of descent; also very useful in a tactical scenario.
Did that coming in to Sarajevo.
Just came across this, she sounds like an old Soviet tractor! Love it!
Klasse Pilot, der nimmt die alte Lady richtig ran!!!
That was awesome. Had them on the airfield for skydivers (I was learning to fly on Zlin 726). Never knew you can do THAT in an AN2 :)
Yes you can if your stumach can hold it.

Id shit my pants worrying it will break into pieces :D
I don't think anyone has ever broken one of these in the air...
I believe that in the RF there were plenty of them broken, but no one knows XD
Is this even certified for aerobatics?
It's an old russian crop duster ;) its a contraption that's barely flying.
@@robinm1211 I would trust the AN2 more than something Boeing recently build, just saying

i almost sh*t my pants watching this.... cant imagine what your copilot was feeling lol
You're so brave to do that...i know it's agile, but forces are forces on older planes...steel nerves from you

Jeff made a stupid comment..
Whaouuuuuu so cool nice flight
Excellent video

Does it really take 2 hours to get to 10,000 feet with a full load, or does it just feel like 2 hours?
Can you give me the title of the video and the name of the poster so I can see the Pilatus Porter please?
great landing
Best aircraft ever by far!

3 minutes for descent, but for climbing to 3000meters 2 hurs :) he had one in my club. Anyway nice video regards from Macedonia.
What goes crash and clank as it lands?
you're lucky, those wings didnt gave up for some aerodynamic problems with that speed..lol
what you did was amazing, a "like combat landing"" ^^,

That sounds very slow.
I fly the An-2 with skydivers. For a load of 10 it usually takes 27-35min from take off to landing is we carry them up to 3000m
weren't you affraid of overcooling the engine? how much did the temperature decrease?
Это не в Даугавпилсе часом? Очень похоже на Гривский аэродром....
da
Спасибо за видео!
nice video, and nice plane, did you overspeed in that maneuver?
greetings from chile!
you don't overspeed, the propeller acts as a brake when in min prop pitch
What is the age of this aircraft?
OMG it looked like FUN

WTF?
First flight - 31 August 1947
Made from 1947 to 2004
Anyone know what that "bang" was at 1:56?
Very good skill pilot. Respect!
Oh yeah, there's one thing the AN-2 is unbeatable in.
