It took a bit of tinkering but I finally got results. As a previous comment wrote "install additional libraries: minim, opencv, video 4 and make sure your video is in the data folder" Also on mac and processing 4 the folder file path is different. So you go libraries, xy scope, examples, inputs, video and launch video.pde. That takes you to the bit where you can input the video file name. As mentioned in another comment place the video inside the data folder next to video.pde. I tried multiple resolutions and nothing worked accept for 320x180 as in the included big buck bunny example so I resized my footage to that and now it works. Thanks
I found you need to install additional libraries: minim, opencv, video 4. I am getting an error, running on Mac OSX 10.14, same with 12.3 on M1: UnsatisfiedLinkError: no opencv_java245 in java.library.path Does anyone know how to fix this? Update: The new version of opencv that became available fixes the problem.
Hi Ryan, it looks amazing! I would be definitely down to see even a 2 hour video of you showing how it's done step by step. Hi Ryan, it looks amazing! I would be definetly down to see even a 2 hour video of you showing how it's done step by step. Could you share some information how you managed to get such clear image? I am trying to figure it out, but i'm not quite there. It would be awesome if you could give some tips :)
Processing just says "Cannot parse error text: java.lang.NullPointerException" when i run. I don't get the part where you drop in the video? Does it just find the file automatically from your /videos folder or am i missing something?
For me, after running the code it pops out a video that doesnt vektorize the whole image. Not sure if its the number of herz frequency, is there some value in the code i have to change? I was trying to convert a black and white letter animation but it wasnt able to vektorize the whole word
if i play this out of a 3.5mm to dual bnc connector into my osciliscope, it will just work? wouldnt it be theoretically posible to do this in real time with a powerfull enoughg computer and watch youtube videos on it?
Go into properties and look at the settings there. If you copy those into your processing size options, it normally fixes it. There are several videos I simply gave up on making the music video because of that error. ITs been awhile so I forget, but making sure your processing sizes arent too far off of the actual video helps. And either the height or width generally like to be smaller... forget which really.
Hey! It took a bit of effort. I worked on it for a few weeks probably. I didnt keep track of how much time was actually spent doing that. And I had it done and then worked with a shuffle dancer to get some final shots since an earlier version used other peoples stuff without permission. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, but its really cool when you get it to work. There's a lot I don't show in the editing. You basically have to make your own editing template to center the shots. Which just consists of DC voltages and left/right channel control. That gives you like, up down and control over the skew. Recording takes some time and just centering later is much faster.
Would love to see the long video! Highly doubt I'd have the willpower to create my own but would love to see the process!!!
I vote for the encore video please!
Long video please!!!
I also need this long video
Yes plzzzz!

I saw your 'nice personality' video (of course!) but I hadn't seen this rundown. Good overview of your process, and look forward to your next project!
That is awesome! Exactly what I was super-curious about after watching your music video! Thanks a gazillion times, Ryan!
This is so tedious and convoluted and painful to see how painstaking it was to make.
And I absolutely love it.
thank you forever and ever, you are my eternal life savior
install additional libraries: minim, opencv, video 4 and make sure your video is in the data folder in xyscope and its all good

you're on another level, damn.
Haha thanks!
would love that long video!
but what audio signal are you talking about? xd theres no audio signal to loopback
Can you upload the long video please?
The lines in-between. How to remove them?
watchging this before all the underground music scene editors r here

The lines in-between. How do u get rid of them?
says I am missing a bunch of libraries?
its gives me a error " ddf you might missing things" what do i have to do?? Btw I made it work I had to download extensions and plug ins
I got the same error. "The package 'ddf' does not exist. You might be missing a library."
Okay I figured it out. Under libraries, install "minim" and "video library for processing 3". After that, it worked for me
Says that packaged 'ddf' does not exist.

The intro killed me lol

I get the error IllegalArgumentException: Width (0) and height (0) cannot be

thanks man i made it work
It tells me ''The package ''ddf'' does not exist. You might be missing a library.''
do you perhaps know how to resolve this issue?
same, went down a super long rabbit hole of internet forums but never figured it out. every time I got the right drivers another problem popped up.
@@karters.online same but cant get it to generate any sound
Bro might be young, but he has advanced knowledge of 80s/90s sitcom intro tropes. I do respect that.
Good video. But next time make the intro way shorter and turn the music down it’s way too loud
Aye bro, bout how long did it take you to make the animation?

operation unsuccessful, i cant find xyscope in there
Oscilloscope music is old news. Make patterns, animations etc with a spectroscope's waterfall display. And all you need is a $10,000 spectrometer.
hard tutorial, im too dumb
Drop that info that’s absolutely nuts
