My father has the apex and he absolutely loves it. I just purchased the woodwind 36 pro with Side kick and with the new smoke box it hands down produces more smoke than any other pellet unit I've cooked on. I've always loved the offset stick burners but the woodwind pro is the closest thing to a offset. I love my woodwind pro. You won't be disappointed with either one of these units and yes they are worth every penny.
How have the inside lights held up over time? My experience with lights inside a cooker is the lenses get "smokey" (no pun intended) over time and become nearly useless.
I’d love to do that comparison, but I’ve yet to meet someone locally that has one! Anyone out there from NE Ohio with the @lonestargrillz pellet grill?
Have you ever seen cooked on the Pit Boss Pro 1600 Elite? If so, what are your thoughts? I have it and love it. Leaps and bounds better than any other PB. You should do a video comparing all the pellet grills in the $1100-$1700 range. Love your videos
On the woodwind pro 36 do you find any issues with the burn pot not centered vs the 24 model? Also, is the pellet usage on the 36 model about 33% more on a typical cook compared to the 24? I've had a normal woodwind 24 for 4 years and looking to upgrade but wondering if the 36 is worth it.
The only place I have to put a grill gazebo was behind the garage. Camp Chef really made me look elsewhere for a new grill with the rear exhaust set up. These grills now have to be 10 ft or more away from the garage. Even though I have an exhaust hood and heat shields above and behind my current grill, I still can't have one without a chimney. Maybe it's time to get a house with a bigger yard.
On the apex, how seamless is the transition from pellet grill to gas grill. If I want to reverse sear is it as simple as smoke it, then with the flip of a switch I turn off the smoker function and turn on the gas grill flame? Or is there a cleanout process to move from one function to another?
I have the new Lonestargrillz pellet grill, and granted it way more expensive, but it is by far the closest to an offset you can get without having to add wood chunks at all…..that being said I will be getting the pro and apex for my collection!!!
you got the big boyz i love my Apex 24-woodwind pro 24 i dumped my other pellets. The light in my apex is awesome for my brisket cooks, i was disappointed no light with the pro
Would a Apex with a smoke tube filled with wood chips or pellets for extra smoke be anywhere near the woodwind pro in quality? I like the idea of the gas grill but I'm also liking the smoke box of the woodwind pro.
It’ll get closer to the woodwind pro, but pellets aren’t quite the same as a piece of hard wood or charcoal. I will say that the smoke tubes DO make a difference though
Had been looking at getting a RT but after checking out these new camp chef grills they're looking good. Seems like there's a lot of good options out there most manufacturers are stepping up.their products.
Great video thanks for your hard work. I do have a question. I’ve had other pellet grills and I have never liked the flying ash that gets on the meat. Does the WW pro solve that problem?
You are really only getting the better smoke on the woodwind because you can use the wood chunk box along with your pellets correct ? This stinks because I can only get one, and was thinking the apex. I'm going to replace my pit boss pro series 860.
@@AndersonsSmokeShow You could add an after market smoke box, couldn't you? Other than that, is there anything else you like better than Apex on WW Pro?
Great comparison! Love your videos! To bad not one of you popular TH-camr's has gotten ahold of a Lifetime Gas Grill and Wood Pellet Smoker Combo. Wife just surprised me with one a few weeks ago (tho wasn't on my radar and not my first choice) It's build like a tank and at $1300 much more affordable than the APEx
The prototype had the materials swapped. Black body, stainless lid…. But I personally like this one better since it eliminates the potential paint issues in the body
How much does the apex actually smoke i have a bfg and it does not smoke does it actually smoke i just dont want go buy another big smoker that does not smoke every video i see there is know visible smoke
It smokes, but with most pellet grills you are going to get a thin blue mild smoke. If you want a better smoke experience with the pellet grill form, then I'd look at the Woodwind Pro.
You’ll definitely see the Timberline XL on the channel here in the next month or so. Not sure if I’ll be able to get my hand on the Ironwood XL, but I’ll try
Be awesome if they could add an auto-mister to time out spraying a mist of acv, apple juice, mop mixture etc., so you could literally set it and forget it.
I was set on keeping my current setup until seeing all of the WW Pro videos start showing up recently. Now I'm heavily looking at it. I'm interested in your thoughts between the WW Pro and the Masterbuilt Gravity 800 though. They both seem to be great.
From what I can tell, the Masterbuilt 1050 cooks great food but is made with low grade materials while the Woodwind Pro is substantially higher quality, lots of stainless steel and an insulated hood. I would like to see other opinions.
How do you get ahold of Camp Chef customer service? Nobody answers the phone. Nobody responds to the chatbot. Nobody replies to the customer service email address.😡
I wish the woodwind had stainless in the main grate instead of just the 2nd shelf. I also with it had a ceramic igniter because changing igniters is for the birds. Shame.
@@AndersonsSmokeShow Man I wish you could get the Kando Rival in for review. Love everything about the design and it’s the only pellet smoker with the fire pot so far beneath the cooking grates. If they figure out a way to incorporate what the woodwind pro is doing on that smoker being that there’s a door with access to fire pot it would be perfect.
How come you cooked these ribs for 2 hours and didn't check them with a toothpick and you put the sauce on while sitting on the cookie sheet but in your other video you didn't do any of that? The other video you cooked them for an hour and forty minutes and then checked them with a toothpick and put the sauce on when not on the cookie sheet
You commented on a grill video so I’m just guessing at what you are talking about. I have an older video without the toothpick which is what I assume you are talking about. I re did it a few years later to add some tips
Oh the pain I feel right now! The queen gave me the nod so I can up grade my grill. …. Maybe I can sell a kidney and buy both, I’ll lose sleep over this one.
I’m not going to bite you but you are simply misinformed and wrong. The Lonestar grillz pellet grill is as close to offset flavor you can get in a pellet grill.
If you like these smokers, then you may be interested in this NEW one! Check out my video: th-cam.com/video/8ub7e3IxIwo/w-d-xo.html
If they could add the smoke box to the Apex it would be the ultimate do everything grill!!

I couldn't have said it better!
This is the comparison everyone has been looking for. Nicely done!
Thanks man!
My WW Pro 36 came and and it did some ribs, the smoke flavor took it up to another level. Love having more control.
How have the inside lights held up over time? My experience with lights inside a cooker is the lenses get "smokey" (no pun intended) over time and become nearly useless.
I wonder how that campchef woodwind pro compares to the lonestar grills pellet smoker. That would be an awesome test
I’d love to do that comparison, but I’ve yet to meet someone locally that has one! Anyone out there from NE Ohio with the @lonestargrillz pellet grill?
@@AndersonsSmokeShow NE Ohio, nice! I'm in Columbus! 😁
Why did they stop making the apex?
You could put wood chips in a smoke box inside the apex to enhance the smoke flavour?

Those grills are insane! I don’t regret getting the SG30, but I will have a 36” pro one day.

I wish the Pro came with a Pro+ version that comes with the lights and pellet sensor...
I cook for four and sometimes six people. Shaft size CC Pro do you recommend?
Killer comparison video man! Thanks for sharing!

Even with a smoke tube it’s not up to par with the Smoke box on the WWPro.
Excellent review! Keep up the great job of educating others.
Thanks John!
Any experience adding a smoke tube or maze in the apex? Would that come closer to the smoke for the woodwind pro?
It’ll get closer to the woodwind pro, but pellets aren’t quite the same as a piece of hard wood or charcoal. I will say that the smoke tubes DO make a difference though
Those tubes are nowhere near the type of smoke you get with the smoke box. Maybe if you put 6 of them in there it'll be close.
I love my RecTeq 1250, but I wish I had that wood smoke option like the Pro.
Those RT’s are nice! But I’d agree that the smoke box is a game changer!
Had been looking at getting a RT but after checking out these new camp chef grills they're looking good. Seems like there's a lot of good options out there most manufacturers are stepping up.their products.

There’s a link on the description for 26in cutting board

How about the APEX with the charcoal slider? now that's what I need
That would be cool!
The Woodwind Pro is definitely appealing. Actually, they both are😂 Not enough room on my little patio.
Yeah these are tanks! Like literal tanks lol. I’ve actually reached the max that my garage can take… 🤣
Which one has an easier clean up?
Woodwind pro since you can take off the grease tray in one shot vs the 6 on the apex

Andrew, have you compared the CampChef Pro to the Smokefire Stealth, by chance?
I wish I had the Stealth to compare it to!
Woodwind Pro 36 and FTG600.... Best combo on the market!
100%!!
I wish they had a smaller apex or the ability to piece meal it.
Do you have the new xxl pro? Im between ww pro or xxl pro
It’ll be delivered tomorrow! I plan on making an overview video very very soon!
@@AndersonsSmokeShow nice.
I'm holding out for a gas option on the woodland pro. That would make it perfect for me with side griddle. The apex is just too big.

The Woodwind Pro can burn sticks and charcoal.

Million dollar idea right there!
I’m not going to bite you but you are simply misinformed and wrong. The Lonestar grillz pellet grill is as close to offset flavor you can get in a pellet grill.
Pellets simply cannot reproduce the same smoke as a piece of hardwood. Doesn’t matter what grill it’s in.
Grills and smokers are inherently in backyards, all the wheels for grills and smokers should be large wheels for running around on grass and rock
Air tires and self-propelled like a lawn mower
