Camp Chef Woodwind Pro Pellet Grill | How Good Is It

  • The Camp Chef Woodwind Pro Pellet Grill is a fantastic pit that can do just about anything once you add the sidekick to it! But the biggest bonus to this pit is the "smoke box". You can add a few chunks of wood or charcoal to seriously enhance and amplify your backyard bbq fun! I am very impressed with what Camp Chef added to their new models lately and the build quality on this pit is great! Out of the all the pellet grills that I have ran only a couple of the controllers stand out to me and this controller is one of the best looking with plenty of functions. I really enjoyed running this pit and I think you will too! Thanks for watching!!

    @ArizonaLiving ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Awesome review Ricer. I have the 36" Woodwind (non-Pro) and use a smoke tube since otherwise, meats don't get any smoke flavor. Glad Campchef added that smoke box. You cracked me up with the installation of the sidekick since it took me an hour to realize there wasn't a way to attach the side brackets to the grill.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hahahah ya we got both on the Pro but then tried to hang the grease pail and I was like wth there isn'y any other way to attach the sidekick!!! The Pro with that smoke box does add a tad more smoke flavor, not like my offset but still boosts it up especially if you use some oak chunks with a little charcoal!! Thanks for watching brother!!

  • @BabyDiego10599
    @BabyDiego10599 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very much liked this review. Been doing lots of research on pellet grills. Because I have an offset and a barrel smoker, I was looking for something just like this in a pellet grill, one that I can still get smoke flavor out of my cooks with the convenience of a set it and forget it. I know this grill won’t last me forever but I’m okay with that.

      As an owner of the 36" my only complaint is they use the same hopper and auger set up as the 24"
      I understand why, and it doesn't seem like a big deal initially. But the fire pot then is 6 inches from center and that's enough to notice a 10-18 degree temp swing from one side to the other of your pit.

    • @markowen7129
      @markowen7129 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Jace Higgs I completely understand. My first pit was the pitboss tailgater model and it was the same way. A very short auger that only came about a quarter of the way into the barrel. But I can say that controller ran MUCH better than the PID in my pitboss 1600 pro and my pitboss 1100 pro runs MUCH better than the PID controller.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya this little pit leaks all over the bottom during the start up and a little during the actual cook around the smokebox and a tad through the grease port. But the more I have ran it the more it has kind of sealed up but during that start up you really need to make sure the lid is open because that much smoke could combust!! That is why I put that clip of all the smoke in the beginning because it certainly smolders a lot!! Thanks for watching Jabin!!!

    Thanks for the great review. I have limited space for this grill. With the sidekick attached it would not roll into the space on my outdoor kitchen. If I rolled it out on the casters then the sidekick would fit. So my question is: is it practical to install the sidekick when I want to roll it out and then uninstall it when I roll it back. Thanks again.

    Great review Ricer. Interesting design. With the help of the many accessories this pretty much becomes a all in one cooker. Very important for those who have limited floor space in their cooking area. But I agree with what you kept coming back to, the smoke box. That little gem I believe means you can actually call this pellet a smoker. Now though about those accessories. I've noticed over the years when someone makes a product that you can add accessories to the main unit ( like years ago when Troybuilt added accessories like generators, woodchipers,etc. to be attached to the tiller ) the accessories cost as much as a stand alone product. Thereby not making any reason to go that route. I'm wondering just how closely this applies here as far as the ability to be reasonable on overall value. This does not take away from them adding that smoke box. In fact I wonder if other manufacturers will in some way follow Camp Chefs lead on this design. I'm curious about what you're going to be cooking for this year's Supper Bowl? Hmmm, could it be Kansas city bbq sauce on chicken? 😂🤣😅😆😁 🏈🐓🍻👍 Have a great day. 🌤😀🔥

Plus 4 LED panels 2 in front and 2 in the back of me. Then 2 Godox SL60W's in front of me with big rectangle softboxes. Then about 12 LED tube strip lights on the ceiling. Oh and 1 Apurture MC RGBW that I use sometimes on my gimbal for darker meats like brisket or pits that are really dark. • @DeadBrokeBBQ

      This is the closest to the LSG but hands down the LSG is still my best better grill I have ever ran to date. The LSG is a smoker that gets dang close to my offset flavor! Plus the build on the LSG will last a lifetime. But Camp Chef is now my favorite box store pellet grill on the market! But that is an expensive pit but honestly a one man show that I call Do All!!!!
