Neal, you and your Navy crew fed me for over two years (Marine Corps helicopter pilot CH-53E.) Great chow! For CC Gridiron, I was sold on the Leveler, but you pointed out so much more. Thanks,

Neal and Amy- I live in northern Utah about 2 miles from the Camp Chef headquarters. I have friends that work there and was excited when I heard about this new model a little while ago. I have the original 36” and love it but I think I’ll have to pull the trigger and get this one soon. Thanks for the great review. Keep up the good work and we’ll all keep watching.

Finally…have been waiting for this video!! Great video as always. Wish the bread test was more even. But overall, looks like a great griddle! I love that you can use the hood a little!!
I still have the original four burner Camp Chef. Love it. I did add on locking swivel wheels to make it easier to get in and out of its storage spot. Have never used the gas grill option as I didn’t want the mess under there. Also have a Camp Chef pellet smoker. Like the looks of this one.
Thanks for your honest opinion! Been watching for a long time and finally pulled the trigger on this Gridiron for Father’s Day! I can’t stop cooking in it!!!!
Thanks Neal! I couldn't wait for your review to come out, I got mine last week and absolutely love it. Real nice upgrade from my Camp Chef FTG600 and the price point seems like a great value.
Was waiting for you to do the review on this one! I’m a huge camp chef fan. I have had their camping gear for a good 20+ years. Was never a fan of their flat top 4 burner because thought it was too small. The gridiron solves this problem Father’s Day is going to be great this year because I will be buying this one!
Great review! 25:16 why coat the back? Is it to prevent rusting? I definitely like that you can adjust the level for the grease to go to the front and pour out.
@@TheFlatTopKing Hey brother, it's Towman127. Just subscribed under my new TH-cam account. Decided to start my own channel to share my experiences with my BLACKSTONE. I would LOVE to see you review the Member’s Mark Pro Series 5 burner griddle from Sam’s Club. This griddle looks like it is a great value and made with quality materials.
I really appreciatewhat you do. Have you considered doing a review of the Sam's Club Member's Mark five burner griddle? I've heard good things about it, but can't find a legitimate review. Again, thanks!
I don’t know why but I like the campy look of their older flat top griddles. Also, the grease trough seems like it’s so wide that it gets between me and the food on this one. If it was your money would you get the newer or older Camp Chef 36”?
Great review. Ive been having a tough time picking out a griddle. I need to do a ton of research before buying anything. But this Camp Chef might be it. I feel the black really gives it a nice look. I also love that you can adjust the level on it too. This might be the one for me. Thank you.
I have been watching your TH-cam griddle videos for months and have just recently purchased the Camp Chef Gridiron 36. It is my first flat top. I have had it for about 2 weeks. I like most everything about the griddle but after 3 cooks I'm underwhelmed by the lack of griddle surface heat that is produced. In fairness it has been quite windy for all 3 cooks. Time will tell. Thanks for all of your very informative videos.
I've always wondered when they would release something with the new griddles that have popped up and making their original "out dated". I'm sure they've watched your videos and utilized their R and D department wisely with this new release. It was because of your channel many years ago that I purchased my camp chef griddle and I still use it to date. Hope to see more reviews from you as you continue to use this one. As always, great content and you don't leave any stone unturned.
as a reqtec pellet grill user, i’m very interested in this review, too. trying to decide between the traeger, weber slate, and reqtec for a new griddle.
Thank you for the review.. I was waiting on it to hopefully finalize decision on new griddle. I think I am leaning toward the Weber Slate 36 as quality of the box, led, shelves etc is important here in Florida and ability to withstand the elements. Even covered....on a covered patio my Blackstone is basically falling apart everywhere but the cooking surface itself.....paint rusted/peeled off...etc.
Really great review Neal! I do like the improvements over the other one you had. Especially the wind guards. Seems very thought out in design. I’m assuming it doesn’t have the grill capability the older model had. Thanks for sharing brother!
ive got an old stainless steel blackstone and do not like the side grease management and would hate the rear grease trap even worse. The large buckets for the Camp Chef and Traeger look promising. Wish there was a comparison video of all the new ones. When it comes to comparisons, I like the idea that if all the griddles were sitting there which one would you pick over and over again to cook on.
I absolutely love your channel you and your reviews are spot on and also has helped me decide what grills to buy. You have never let me down i start my day checking to see if you have any new videos. You are the man, never mind the trolls that may say negative things about what you are doing. Im from California, keep up the great content, you are #1.
Thanks for the review. I just ordered mine (first flat top) yesterday and with my Veteran discount it was $399 plus tax. Free shipping. Couldn’t pass on it at that price.
Love the vids as always. Hey just a heads up, the burner tubes are upside down. The short row of holes towards the front should be pointing down from what I saw on a Camp Chef vid. If you look in the manual, they also dont show the holes in the picture.
thanks for commenting...although they are upside down..it does not make a difference...we addressed that idea in our big breakfast after talking directly with Camp Chef...even at the launch party we filmed and they were right side up...cheers
I have been waiting for your review, is that a Traeger spatula? Release here in Australia on the 20th June. I have one on pre order and based on your review i can't wait to get it. Thankyou
Hey Neal, loving your comparison videos, I just watched this one as well as the head to head one you did about a year ago with the Traeger, Blackstone and Weber griddles. I've kinda been eyeballin' a Blackstone for a while now but after watching the head to head I'm thinking Traeger. now that you've thrown this one into the mix though which would you say you think is overall better between the two? I really appreciate your educated, informed and down to earth opinions and thoughts on these things, please keep up the good work!
Yeah still traeger as of today...but this Camp Chef is a direct rival to any Blackstone...it was on sale for 450 so that helps with some of the people who dont or do not want to spend a ton of money...I do think there is a gap in performance...but also 3-400 more...
According to Camp Chef support the holes were designed to be down but they found it does not matter. So if you have them up no need to bother changing them.
I’m watching your video on the Camp Chef Gridiron review I see the bread test and I can hear the wind blowing is it possible that the wind was blow from left to right making your left side temperature lower?
Great review and very detailed look. I’m leaning toward this griddle for sure. I hope you’re going to make another video showing a full cook on it. Would you recommend this griddle over the original camp chef griddle or blackstone? I know the traeger performs well but I don’t see the price justification.
This is the comment I’ve been looking for!! Thanks guys. First I was debating w Blackstone. Then debated the new gridiron camp chef vs the original camp chef flat top 600. I’m just concerned on the quality. Gridiron vs 600. Yes everything may be an upgrade on gridiron but is it truly an “upgrade”? (Pricing on the 600 is more expensive than the new gridiron.) Makes me question…why? Is the Gridiron made to be a product to just sell sell sell like the black stone? I’m wanting something w great quality that will last. Based on price is the original flat top 600 just better quality? @Flat Top King would love your input now that you have both.
i'm a big fan and watch the channel closely. thanks so much for your talent and expertise. i do have a question.. sometime back, you reviewed the 4 burner Halo and you seemed to like it. i got one a year or so ago and i love it and use it 3 days a week or more. anyway, i don't see you using it and was wondering if you had some issues with it ? the only downside i know of is the $ 1.000 cost. again, thanks for the continuing education !
Hey bud...so like most things...I only have so much space...each year co come out with more griddles and we try them out...at the time Yes I did like the Halo...and still rank it either 2 or 3 based on the dish or individual....we got rid of it to make room for others this year...i kept the traeger because it was and still my favorite....
My first thought was a lot of positive features. I was curious about the lid. They all seem to have that flaw with the heat. I was curious if a smoke/vent type stack would make a difference. Looking forward to how it handles cooking on it. A couple other notes: The first being Utah. I follow The Retirement Nerds" and actually talk back and forth on his channel. He is located in Utah. Of course that also shows you have followers from the 20's to Medicare eligible which is a good thing. The second note is well when you said stale bread the light bulb went off and I told myself that is in no way "Evangeline Bread" which is the number one bread in my state for good reason. Maybe it was Bunny Bread or Sunbeam Bread. I could see that going stale lol. Great Video!
Another great review! Happy to see Camp Chef release something new. Looking forward to your first cook! Curious if you've ever heard of Eno La Plancha which uses an enameled cast iron plate? Would love to see your opinion on one. Cheers!
I ordered my Gridiron 36 on Friday after seeing other YT vids. I think your YT review was the most comprehensive I've seen. Thank you. Since you left the lid off which exposes the vents in the rear, could that have affected the toast test? Looking forward to you cooking on the Gridiron 36 in future vids. I'm a griddle newbie so you're my sensei. 🙇♂️
I’ve been wanting one of these GridIron but they have been Out of Stock for 3 months. Best Buy has the Nexgrill 36” 4 burner on special buy for $299 so I have a Nexgrill
Great first impression, but is it enough to become your daily driver? Only time will tell I suppose, and I'll be waiting patiently for your comparison with the Treager. The Gridirion does seem to have great value no question, and it has some really interesting, well thought out designs. One minor gripe is it definitely looks like a fingerprint magnet with the matte black, but I imagine it won’t potentially chip like the Flatrock. To be fair I’m not really sure what to think after watching this, lol. Nothing is perfect but I think I still like the Flatrock a little more. I’m just not sure if it’s worth paying 300 more though. As always I appreciate your thoughts.
great review. looks like a really nice design. i like the leveler idea. if my blackstone ever bites the dust, this would be a great alternative. thanks for sharing.
Your burners are installed wrong, the holes should be facing down. During their install video, they said "Make sure to put the holes down." I also confirmed this with customer service. Also, why would you test a partially installed griddle? When the lid is on, it blocks the rear exhaust holes. That area of the lid is curved, so hot air will blow back underneath the griddle steel. I feel like this may improve even heat distribution, but I could be wrong. I think you should do another bread test with the burners fixed and the lid on. Thank you for a great channel!
The same customer service also has said to me It does not matter if holes are down or not...Camp Chefs media even shows the holes up...I have no problems with them being down...Camp Chef knows this and they are fine with it... Per the lid...because like ALL griddle reviews I treat them the same..I take the lids off....I will not make a difference...been around to long with other brands and different congregations....the heat is fine with me...i already have multiple cooks so far and absolutely no problems...
Your reviews are always so awesome and this looks like an awesome griddle. The magnetic accessories look really flexible in how you can move stuff to different locations. Can't wait to see you cooking a meal on it! Do you think this would be a good "first griddle" for a newbie?
I have noticed camp chef is pretty thoughtful. They make a product and listen to feedback and then make the changes needed. Awesome customer service too. My pellet smoker had a small ding that chipped the paint. It came out of the box that way and I didn't notice it until I had fully assembled it. I contacted their customer service and after looking at the pictures they decided that it would not affect the use of the product. They gave me two choices. I could go get a bottle of black grill paint and sand that area down and spray some paint on it and they would give me a $300 credit to my account or I could box it up and send it back and they would send me a brand new one.. I decided it was not worth the trouble to send it back if it wasn't going to affect anything. So I took the $300. Is good customer service and they have good products
Great review as always, looks like a bargain for all you get with great quality features. Can’t wait for some cooks on this one. Having a true low would be really sweet. Cook on kids!
I was waiting for your review before I sold my FTG600 to buy the GridIron......Great review and Thank You...have you tried the BBQ sauce recipe I sent you??
Any thoughts on the Members Mark Pro Series 5 Burner Griddle at Sam’s Club? This looks like an unreal deal for the money and you can cook with the lid down.
Your honnest opinion. Weber Slate or this Camp Chef Gridiron 36? First I wanted to upgrade my Blackstone 36 with the Weber but after seeing your two reviews of each griddle I am not sure anymore. I like my backstone but its cheap. The one I have is not strong. The legs are loose, the table are loose and cheap… She is supposed to be portable and its perhaps because of that but I dont like it for this reason. I move my griddle in and out my garage. And I want something solid. Your opinion? By the way I just discovered your channe. And I love it. Great job.
Hey FTK! Just recently started watching your videos and this particular model is one that I’m looking to purchase so am excited for this video!!! Question, have you reviewed or tried the Cuisinart 360 models? What are your thoughts on round flat tops? Thanks 🙏
I pulled up TH-cam and here was my first recommendation. I hadn't heard of this one before, but after this I think I'm getting it! Two Christmases ago my wife bought me the Outdoor Gourmet 36" (Acedemy brand). I've never been fond of it. It rusts in 2.3 seconds no matter how much or how well you season it. It also has a grease tray that runs the entire length of the front edge and goes into another tray that slides onto the left shelf. If you turn all four burners on low, in 10-15 minutes you're pushing 500°. I can't stand that there is no "low". You have to be extremely fast, or heat it up and then turn everything off to cook. If low stays less than 300° on this thing I'm in! Better temperature control, better grease trap, better accessories, and all that for only $100 more?! I'm in. I really appreciate this review!
Love the review. Can you do me I favor. In your next video, will you wipe your griddle with a paper towel before you put anything on it. Mine paper towel is always light brown when I wipe it before I cook anything. Would like to see if it is normal.
Man, I'm looking forward to seeing you cook more on this puppy. Seems like a great investment at $500 with all of these features. Plus, sometimes it's fun building something on a boring weekend, so this seems like a win
Pretty impressive once you consider price. I just need the smaller footprint of the Traeger. If Camp Chef would move the grease slightly to one side to fit the tank underneath, it would be better IMO.
I have a question we were going to purchase the FTG 600 camp chef griddle. But, Now the new camp chef gridiron 36 is out for approximately the same amount of money. I can purchase the older unit for $430. The new gridiron is on sale for Father’s Day for $449. I do have the camp chef pizza oven that goes on top of the older unit, but I’m sure I can make it fit on the new unit as well. What is your recommendation between the two units now that you reviewed both? Thanks. Great video. Also, I looked on camp chefs. Accessories couldn’t find the magnets for the utensil holders or paper towels. Was that a Blackstone magnetic kit or just a generic magnet kit?
@Garykeene8234 I’m following your comment! I’m on the same boat. New Gridiron $499 flat top Grill 600 $599 Why price diff? Is the Gridiron just a product to compete w blackstone & sell sell sell or is the Flat Top Grill just the way to go? Better quality? I’m on the edge of buying & can’t decide on either 2.
Do you see a disadvantage to the lid being attached to the actual griddle? I just got one and this is the feature I am most skeptical about. It rubs a lot on the outside and I would imagine will be prone to rust there (also the lock nut has a plastic component?!). Since you took yours off, is it easy enough to take on and off in between cooks? Thoughts? Thank you!
Man so now it's a toss up between this and the Treager. do you think that applying a blocker of some type to the front and sides to prevent the heat leakage would cause too much of an issue?
Since you and I started with the FTG 600 about 4 years ago, the griddle world has REALLY changed. It took CC longer than I thought to come out with an upgraded unit, but it looks like they did a really good job. And for the price? It's a wicked good bargain. Quick question about the "guaranteed light" burners............thinking back a couple years.......are they Amy proof? (I'm terrible aren't I?) People who don't know what they don't know will probably jump to negative conclusions on the low temp setting performance, I'm impressed with how low the temp stays on the lowest setting, lot's of versatility added for the experienced griddler. When you did the toast test it sounded like there was a bit of wind. Was it blowing from the side that came out lighter than expected? Even with those minimum sized 3 vents, I would imagine the flame would get disrupted some.
I’d like to know how you feel this griddle compares to the Halo. I’d also be interested to know your experience, opinion on how well these griddles can maintain temperature as you load them up with food, or how fast they come back up to temperature after pulling food off.
I dont think anything is Amy proof with cooking..hhahaha as for the wind..yeah we had some wind...ill play with it for sure..just confusing based on what the temp gun and what we saw in Utah...it really thew me....
Any ideas or reasons discovered yet why so many people are reporting they cant even hit 450 , even after checking burner orientation, etc? I usually chalk things up to people doing something wrong but so many people are posting the same exact issue, whether propane or NG, it is concerning. I'm ready to pull the trigger but I am not sure because of the sheer amount of posts.... Just wondering if you or others on here have "solved" the varying max temps from owner to owner.
Been watching all your reviews, have been on the fence and over analyzing every brand out there, so glad I waited until you reviewed one, just order the gridiron can't wait to use it!
Super dope review my guy 🫡. Yes I Remember the OG camp chef, and it seems this 1 comes better equipped… with some extra bells and whistles. Coming in @ the 500 mark, I think it’s a pretty solid bang for the buck. Can’t wait to see the breakfast cook on this 1. And i agree with the front grease management system with the oversize capacity “bucket”, it can be a game changer compared to my 4 burner Blackstone with the smaller rectangular cup that I have to push grease to the back and over the hot griddle/constantly monitor. All n all, what a great addition to your arsenal brother. She looks like a potential BADDIE 😉👌, let’s see how she performs under the Mad Scientist’s gauntlet/pressure. Cheers ‘all 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
@@TheFlatTopKing agreed, but im sure you will take the bottleneck, and use it to your advantage ✊🏼🧐 if it stays true!! Either way, nice looking hardware from what i saw. Fa-sho, time will tell/ we shall see 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Did you re-level the griddle after you washed it?? it looks like the griddle is raised in the back where the leveling screws are still all the way in... doesn't that throw off your tests??
So I have went back and forth...not only on camp chefs manual and the footage we were able to use...from my standpoint you are innocent saying my tubes are in upside down...the burner holes across the front are positioned upwards...this allows for the heat to spread on the bottom...if you pause in the video...theirs shows the same thing..
wow! I have the original camp chef griddle as well as 2 blackstones. My biggest complaint about the front grease trough on the original camp chef is that the drain hole was too small and would clog up. I LOVE to see a nice wide grease trough on the new version. I like how the front lip is cut down so it doesn't hit your knuckles (one of the things i dont like about my blackstone). I will definitely be following along to see how you like it after a few cooks.
Love your reviews, Neal. I think it's worth noting that your comment about not losing cooking space as a result of the grease collector design is a bit misleading (not on purpose obviously). It seems that your typical 36" griddle (typically 4 burners) will have a cooking area depth of 20-22" not 18". So by comparison to the slate, halo, and many other 36" models, you're actually coming up about 100 sq in less with this model. That being said, for the price, this seems like a nice option.
@@TheFlatTopKing Yeah it's actually a pretty interesting route Camp Chef have taken here. The Weber you have is the 30" 3 burner and Traeger 32" 3 burner and have a very similar cooking area as the Gridiron at 36". Whereas the weber, Halo, Blackstone, and other "36 inch" griddles have a around 15-20% more cooking area VS the Gridiron. Honestly, if Traeger made a 36" 4 burner, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
The price is great for what you get. I don't like the fact that the lid is attached to the pan. I like to remove them for cleaning in the cracks and making sure everything inside is working. Also to check for rust.
i have been going back and forth on this or the weber slate. i know the price range is completely different but my biggest concern is rust and the cooking. I live on a foggy soggy mountain so the rust proof is a big selling point but its also double the price.
Without using your leveler, did your griddle sit right when you put it on together? Mine rocks back and forth i imagine when it warms up it'll level itself 🤔
I would not...I its pre seasoned already....just to clarify...I dont recommend sanding anymore...yes it can be done...but I have found better results going natural
thanks for commenting...although they are upside down..it does not make a difference...we addressed that idea in our big breakfast after talking directly with Camp Chef...even at the launch party we filmed and they were right side up...cheers
Hey just bought this grill and assembled it. I noticed your burners were installed differently than camp chef’s video tutorial. There is a line of holes going across the burner tubes toward the front of the grill. Yours are upward facing. Camp chef said make sure they are down facing. Any idea what difference it makes?
Makes no difference at all...we addressed this in next video...at the launch party they had em up...in there social media blitz...they were up...so we reached out....said its doesnt matter...

I absolutely love your channel you and your reviews are spot on and also has helped me decide what grills to buy. You have never let me down i start my day checking to see if you have any new videos. You are the man, never mind the trolls that may say negative things about what you are doing. Im from California, keep up the great content, you are #1.
LEGO also uses the numbered bags on big builds!
Thanks for the review. I just ordered mine (first flat top) yesterday and with my Veteran discount it was $399 plus tax. Free shipping. Couldn’t pass on it at that price.
Where did you order from to get that?
WOW...yeah thats a fantastic price..
How were you able to use your discount?
Love the vids as always. Hey just a heads up, the burner tubes are upside down. The short row of holes towards the front should be pointing down from what I saw on a Camp Chef vid. If you look in the manual, they also dont show the holes in the picture.
I just put mine together late last night and doing my first cook tonight. This griddle is burly I must say!
thanks for commenting...although they are upside down..it does not make a difference...we addressed that idea in our big breakfast after talking directly with Camp Chef...even at the launch party we filmed and they were right side up...cheers
This thing is on sale for Father's Day this week too for $449. Camp Chef nailed it.
Yep. As soon as I saw it was on sale I pulled the trigger. Cannot wait to finally have a griddle on my patio.
@@ThatCapnGeech same ha. i was waiting for a good griddle
I have a camp chef smoker and love it! If i ever get a new griddle, ill probably buy one from them
I really like the grease trough being designed to fit the spatula.
@@TheFlatTopKing Thanks Neil!
Love my Gridiron 36. However, I think it’s worth noting that your burners are upside down. The horizontal holes are supposed to face down.
According to Camp Chef support the holes were designed to be down but they found it does not matter. So if you have them up no need to bother changing them.
I’m watching your video on the Camp Chef Gridiron review
I see the bread test and I can hear the wind blowing is it possible that the wind was blow from left to right making your left side temperature lower?
Unfortunately not....on low this thing is LOW..ahahha maybe a hari to low....
I’m about to buy the 30” Weber griddle for $700 how does this compare in quality and build?
Great review and very detailed look. I’m leaning toward this griddle for sure. I hope you’re going to make another video showing a full cook on it. Would you recommend this griddle over the original camp chef griddle or blackstone? I know the traeger performs well but I don’t see the price justification.
100… yes i recommend this over those mentioned… Traeger is different in that list… as you mentioned. I’ll definitely be cooking on it.
(Pricing on the 600 is more expensive than the new gridiron.)
Makes me question…why?
Is the Gridiron made to be a product to just sell sell sell like the black stone?
I’m wanting something w great quality that will last.
Based on price is the original flat top 600 just better quality?
@Flat Top King would love your input now that you have both.
As a 29 year old man, I've never been more excited to see a video review hahaha.
You and me both hhahaha thats funny...appreciate that...
Man, I have been waiting for this review. Thanks for delivering. When does the breakfast video come out?
i'm a big fan and watch the channel closely. thanks so much for your talent and expertise. i do have a question.. sometime back, you reviewed the 4 burner Halo and you seemed to like it. i got one a year or so ago and i love it and use it 3 days a week or more. anyway, i don't see you using it and was wondering if you had some issues with it ? the only downside i know of is the $ 1.000 cost. again, thanks for the continuing education !
Looking forward to cookoffs with this beast! See how she does! Im still loving my FTG600, but this new model looks slick 👍🏻
I honestly dont think so...I could be wrong...but I truly dont think so...
Nice review I got one of these in the back of the truck.
Very cool
great review. looks like a really nice design. i like the leveler idea. if my blackstone ever bites the dust, this would be a great alternative. thanks for sharing.
Good call!
@@TheFlatTopKing I wonder if flipping the burners would cause the 'hot spots' to change though.
Great job.
Great review. I was wondering about using onions to help season the grill. Do they actually work?
Hey FTK! Just recently started watching your videos and this particular model is one that I’m looking to purchase so am excited for this video!!! Question, have you reviewed or tried the Cuisinart 360 models? What are your thoughts on round flat tops? Thanks 🙏
Welcome aboard! Unfortunately I have not...
Well I appreciate you taking time to comment...cheers
Love the review. Can you do me I favor. In your next video, will you wipe your griddle with a paper towel before you put anything on it. Mine paper towel is always light brown when I wipe it before I cook anything. Would like to see if it is normal.
Man, I'm looking forward to seeing you cook more on this puppy. Seems like a great investment at $500 with all of these features. Plus, sometimes it's fun building something on a boring weekend, so this seems like a win
I keep hearing it comes in two boxes. Are the two boxes in the one big box?
Pretty impressive once you consider price. I just need the smaller footprint of the Traeger. If Camp Chef would move the grease slightly to one side to fit the tank underneath, it would be better IMO.
Great review and looking forward to your cooks on it. 👍🏻
@Garykeene8234 I’m following your comment!
I’m on the same boat.
New Gridiron $499
flat top Grill 600 $599
Why price diff?
Is the Gridiron just a product to compete w blackstone & sell sell sell or is the Flat Top Grill just the way to go? Better quality?
I’m on the edge of buying & can’t decide on either 2.
Do you see a disadvantage to the lid being attached to the actual griddle? I just got one and this is the feature I am most skeptical about. It rubs a lot on the outside and I would imagine will be prone to rust there (also the lock nut has a plastic component?!). Since you took yours off, is it easy enough to take on and off in between cooks? Thoughts? Thank you!
Man so now it's a toss up between this and the Treager. do you think that applying a blocker of some type to the front and sides to prevent the heat leakage would cause too much of an issue?
if you had to choose between this and the treager Flatrock, what would you choose and why?
Since you and I started with the FTG 600 about 4 years ago, the griddle world has REALLY changed. It took CC longer than I thought to come out with an upgraded unit, but it looks like they did a really good job. And for the price? It's a wicked good bargain.
Quick question about the "guaranteed light" burners............thinking back a couple years.......are they Amy proof? (I'm terrible aren't I?)
People who don't know what they don't know will probably jump to negative conclusions on the low temp setting performance, I'm impressed with how low the temp stays on the lowest setting, lot's of versatility added for the experienced griddler.
I appreciate that and glad you picked one..happy griddling..
Cheers ‘all 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
We shall see..that left spot caught me off guard...
Great video! Just a heads up though your burner tubes are upside down. Just received and assembled the same grill recently.
According to Camp Chef support the holes were designed to go down but they found it does not matter. You can install them either way.
Camp Chef's assembly video says to put the holes down. Like I already posted, Customer support said it really doesn't matter.
@@George-gd6op interesting… their media shows other way.
@TheFlatTopKing support did say you will see it both ways in their videos.
Thanks for sharing
Great review, Thanks!
Now a little over a month in, what are your thoughts on this griddle? How does this rank? What would be your top 3 griddle’s? Thanks
Traeger 1...weber/camp chef depending on the day...2/3...Halo is right there as well...
So which would you choice as your only one? Gridiron, slate 36, or halo 4b
Traeger...Weber..Halo...Camp Chef in that order
@@TheFlatTopKing what didn’t you like about the camp Chef that made it last? What’s wrong with the Weber?
Have you tried the Members Mark Pro series 5 burner from Sam’s club
Thanks for the Camp Chef Griddle Review. great job, stay safe and keep up the great videos. Fred.
He’s probably comparing to the previous Camp Chef model FTG600 which has less cooking space
Interesting… I only have two on the deck now… Weber and Traeger. Weber is 18 inches… Traeger is 19 in… Camp Chef was 19 in..
Nice review. Maybe it was a blustery day when they tested the prototype and they didn’t notice the heat escaping 😂
i have been going back and forth on this or the weber slate. i know the price range is completely different but my biggest concern is rust and the cooking. I live on a foggy soggy mountain so the rust proof is a big selling point but its also double the price.
I understand that completely...
bread isnt bad till its moldy :)
- just ordered one. cant wait to see more vids with this used.
Without using your leveler, did your griddle sit right when you put it on together? Mine rocks back and forth i imagine when it warms up it'll level itself 🤔
This or the previous Weber non-slate model?? Similar prices! Help!
the little holes on the top should be facing down right?
Neal, can I ask, I've seen you sand a griddle before seasoning...did you sand the gridiron and do you recommend we do it? Thanks!
I would not...I its pre seasoned already....just to clarify...I dont recommend sanding anymore...yes it can be done...but I have found better results going natural
Looks pretty solid, look forward to a cook!
Love my Gridiron 36! Any thoughts on converting to natural gas?
I do not....its something we can not do....and would be wrong to comment otherwise....
@@TheFlatTopKingThanks! I’ll just keep an extra full bottle of propane around.
Just an FYI, your burners are in upside down. Per camp chef, the holes around the diameter are supposed to be pointing down not up.
thanks for commenting...although they are upside down..it does not make a difference...we addressed that idea in our big breakfast after talking directly with Camp Chef...even at the launch party we filmed and they were right side up...cheers
Awesome review and video as usual Neal….. 👍🏻👍🏻
The best of all is that they actually have a "low". My old CampChef was almost impossible to get below 320
Absolutely....100 percent...
Thanks! Really appreciate your videos. Looking forward to cooking on this grill.
