Brand new player, 2023. Never played it.
This game was so ahead of its time, it is beyond my comprehension. A labor of love, instead of the usual shovelware with DLC poopcake we have now.
Build your own weapons and tools? Check. Build own unique house? Check. Build starship and fly it? Sure. Different planets with different terrain and creatures? Of course. Incredible.
I share all of your sentiments for this game that you expressed at the beginning of the video. SWG was the first MMO I ever played as well, but I was a late comer and didn't get into it until after the CU. Still an amazing game and really miss it. While everyone else was running around as a Jedi, I played a bounty hunter myself and loved that character.
Shame that it was common to see Jedi later on...
I played this for a short time in 2007 and I have missed it ever since, I look forward to playing it again. :')

I'm investing in a new desktop to play SWGEMU. Played on Bria for years and love how far the emu team have taken this project.
This almost seems like SWG 2. Very interested in this, would love to play it if it ever goes live.
I was on starsider from launch until nge. Best game ever. Interesting. I was doc/to Master until I unlocked Jedi. Had top 5 buffs on starsider. Long lines wherever I went. Had the cash to start and run a city on talus. Loved the roleplay.

If there was any game they should remaster it should be this game! Add some more species, keep the old school version not the updated shit, that would be amazing!
Galaxies is not dead, it's well and alive as of Sep 2018. It also has an avg. playerbase of at least 45,000 players

Looks really interesting, just made an account on their website. I usually play on basilisk, but I hear this is where all the RP has been flocking to. Other than that the game changes look very promising. I myself dont like the NGE, this server keeps the spirit of the original game system alive bit has some interesting alterations.

Oh hi, I just happened to check back here, I did not get an alert for this reply.
I'm legitimately loving this server. Totally subscribed. If you are ever in-game, you can message Te'ram. :) I'm kind of a boring human, but just because my "family" name has always been human. I might mix it up and make another race later on, but I'm happily playing as a Ranger with a Rifleman/Pistoleer focus. Some reason my CDEF Pistol is wrecking things better than my DLT-20, but oh well. I've just been running missions and making credits.

This is interesting for me. I've long been following SWGemu which is probably the furthest along, if not one of the furthest along emulators there is, but its combat and overall gameplay is pre-CU which I never exactly preferred. However, this one you are on is apparently CU but is also lacking in quite a bit of other things. I may have to give it a try regardless and keep up to date.
Edit* Apparently it's not NGE, so unfortunately it seems to me to just be a far less advanced, far less populated SWGemu. I thank you for putting light on the overall community though!
I wouldn't say it's far less advanced. It's heavily modified from the generic SWGEmu.
It's not NGE? YES!... I always hated Sony for nuking the Creature Handler in NGE. I also preferred the Pre NGE jedi's... my opinion. I just liked it more. I know there are a lot of people that like the NGE.. it's just not for me.
My mother was one of the best Bio Engineers on Naritus when my family and I played on Live and she was quite rather mad when they got rid of it entirely. I did all this grinding with rifleman/pistoleer by shooting those cats at the Lost City of Durbin (Kitty City) on Talus, only for SOE to come along and say "screw you" to everyone who has put in all this effort tailoring their characters specifically for certain skills. The CU and NGE just wiped it all out. We still stuck together until its shutdown, because I guess we were stubborn and didn't want it to go, even though Sony basically murdered it. Guess we were in denial?
Old post, but for the record....
SWGemu is, more or less, the development server (Basilisk server). Their work is open source, so others can take it, modify it, and host their own servers. Thus, it's hard to call one more advanced, though they're pioneering most of the work to be sure. SWGemu is basically trying to "finish" the game to publish 14. Then they'll kill that galaxy and relaunch, but what they launch will be the "vanella" game to that point. Meanwhile, other servers are free to take, pick and add modifications, etc.
Also worth noting, there are NGE servers available, with the most popular one being called Legends. NGE ruined what was an original thought-out game, replacing it with WoW gimmicks to make a quick buck, but if it's your cup of tea, it's out there.
Basilisk generally has around 1200-1400 players, while other pre-CU servers, in my experience, are sparsely populated. I'm not sure about "Legends."
Set playback speed to 1.5 for normal speed.
Is there jump to lightspeed?
We are reliant on the SWGEMU for that, but it shouldnt be "too" long, video footage has been released of JTL from the SWGEMU team.
Can you still choose different species like this?

How many skills can you invest in? Like can I invest in a creature tamer, droid builder, weapons smith, and armor smith?
Yes, any combination of skills.
I remember a long time ago, i saw someone in the original SWG with clone trooper armour. Is it still possible to do so on SWGEMU?
I can only speak from Post-NGE experience but as far as the armor goes, I currently have a set of it on the Star Wars Galaxies : Legends variant.
+Pauleh where do you get reshade? tell us more about that.

I lost my first marriage to swg lol! I was running TKM/Master Doc then in to Commando. The new system killed it off. Is this free to download?
Install the game and go to one of the server sites. I'd recommend Basilisk as it's got the only stable population. You'll have to download and install the server-specific launch pad and sign up for the forums. Then you're off and playing.

Just letting everyone know, there is a SWG NGE server called SWG Legends google it its currently on update 16.4 has mando all the dlc planets etc a lot of fun stuff to be had including master cloak collections!

It's not your standard MMO. The crafting system is awesome. Graphics are dated. but I had probably the MOST fun in an MMO with this game.

Does EiF has space ? it's not STAR Wars without space. If i want to play ground based mmo's, i can always play WoW or any other medieval crap. You've got a bunch of videos here but nothing about the space part of the game. No space = waste of life, i'd rather play some single player game instead.
