As retired insurance claims professional the person or persons who approved the payments is suspect. Each state has a Department of Insurance that can help policyholders with their complaints and rate increases. Most standard policies do not have a penalty for glass breakage.

This wasn't a windshield but 20 years ago my brother slid off the road during a severe snow storm in his new honda civic and hit a telephone pole. Lucky he was going slow and was slow enough that the airbags didn't deploy. His insurance recommended a autobody shop to get the repairs done. After paying his deductible to the autobody shop and getting the bill we noticed the shop was fraudulently charging for parts and work never done. His car did not have air conditioning. The shop charged for a new radiator which it needed but also charged for a new ac condenser. I could chaulk that up to a mistake but they also charged his insurance for the feon and installing the freon. The insurance industry need a serious independent audit. They are allowing fraud on a massive scale because they know they can extort higher rates on a product the too many states MANDATE if people want to drive. I get why people may need insurance but these companies need to act in the best interest of their customers and that means reviewing claims and work done.

Most insurance companies will not tell you that a windshields claim is treated just like an accident claim, it counts against you the same even if you get the windshield repaired for a crack, it's the same as getting a windshield replaced. I got a quote from another insurance company and they told me I had too many claims. I told them I had no claims they told me "you have 3 claims for windshields" they refused to insure me. I was a witness to an accident and stopped to make sure the guy that tried to pass me and then lost control and slammed head on into the gaurdrail was OK. Beleive it or not I was issued a ticket for unsafe lane change. That made me at fault for the accident. I fought the ticket and won. But my insurance company had already paid out the claim and put it on Lexus Nexus. I tried gettign it removed, even submitted documents showing I was not repsonible for the accident, and that I had beat the ticket. I ended up paying higher rates for 3 years. I'm not defending what has happened to this Customer at all. But I am stating a fact. As an owner of a glass shop that is in network with Farmers. The correct amount to charge for this claim would be 1071.81 That is per farmers agreed pricing on the windshield for her 2018 Honda CRV with LDWS. Windshields are no longer just pieces of glass in your vehicle. They hold devices such as cameras, rain sensors, humidity sensors, gps antennas, Radio antennas, etc. Hers has a LDWS Camera which Needs to be recalibrated after installation which increases the cost by 300 alone.

Why does a calibration cost $300? All you do is hook up a laptop, with the proper software, click start, and wait a few minutes, and it's done.

    • @DaXtremeist
      @DaXtremeist 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@allenwilliams6882 unfortunately that is not true. For one the hardware to perform the static calibration costs $15,000 + if you're lucky. Then you have a yearly fee for the licenses. And then when you do the calibrations you become liable for the proper function of the vehicle staying in its lanes, automatically braking to avoid an accident, etc. 300 is cheap to take on that type of liability.

I can't believe this was legitimately processed by the insurance company. I'm sure the average claim amount is readily available to the processor and if like the company I am retired from (different business), if a claim or invoice exceeds the 'normal and customary' charge by a certain amount, a pop up displays what the N&C amount is, and must be over ridden. If way too much (10-15%?) it must be over ridden by a supervisor. So that leads to only one conclusion: There is (was?) a person (supervisor?) on the inside working on this in league with the outside claimant.

I think i would have been skeptical as soon as the glass company offered a gift card. Nothing good comes from “gift card” deals. I also wont do the “we will come to your job and fix it” anymore, i found my truck wide open in my work parking lot with that black glue they use for window glass all over my dash. The tech made a mess and ruined my dash then left all the doors open “to air out the smell until they could get it replaced”. I asked “so you left my truck, all 4 doors, open and available to the public all day!?!?”. What a mess!

A smart practice is not to include windshield coverage in your auto insurance. That saves you insurance premium every year. In case a windshield has to be changed, you can always pay several hundred dollars out of your own pocket. It would be most likely cheaper than the extra premiums added up in years.

Insurance is a HUGE scam. I have 5 cars. 2007 is the newest. None have comprehensive or collision insurance. While they are great cars, totally reliable, and have tons of miles left (plus they are old enough to be repairable for a long time, UNLIKE newer cars) they don't have enough monetary value to be worth the insane cost of full coverage insurance. I have had to replace several windshields. Here in AZ, the biggest cause of broken windshields by far is gravel trucks. Windshield for my cars cost between $300 and $500 to replace. That is the full cost. They do not have sensors, cameras, displays, or any kind of TRASH like that.

At least in the olden days the highway men rode horses and wore masks. Now insurance companies are legalised highway men. We have to have it just in case. But you try finding an insurance company that happily honours the contract. They will use any trick or sleight of hand to avoid paying out. They will refer to the smallest of fine print to justify their decision, with very little recourse for the punter.

Big insurance companies seek out some of the scummiest least professional windshield companies they can because of price they’ll do it for so cheap.
Sorry to burst anybody’s bubble if they thought otherwise .
There’s actually very professional high-quality never have any come back or make mistakes or do damage small private companies, insurance companies don’t want to do business with because they charge more .
In the Autobody business, the owners and the managers of many body shops know they would never use the companies that do the cheap glass work on their own personal cars .
They call one of the small private companies for themselves. They rather pay a little bit more. .
I perform a service after collision work at a body shop for cars my business and the insurance company never wants to pay the price. They hate my company. .
They only want to pay a price that is so low that no business can stay in business at the prices that they’re willing to pay .
They want to pay prices so though you can only afford to pay your technicians close to around minimum wage and cut procedures and cut corners and buy lower quality products .
This is the insurance company way of making money .
