with all respect ma'am, your son was such an inspiration and we looked up to him and his band, "suction". we met him in the late 90s and were actually at the "coconut teaser" in Hollywood when a record label was talking them into signing a deal.. wow!
Sharon, I saw this and wanted to share a story. I saw The Deadlights at ozzfest. I think it was 1999. I was 16 at the time and had been listening to all the lesser known bands on the from the 2nd stage. Your sons band really hit with me. I got the chance to meet him while they were waiting to go on. We talked for a while about music and life. He was so kind to a starstruck kid just looking to connect with some artists. I still have the shirt he signed for me. Great memories. Thought you might like to know he touched someones life and gave a kid a really special moment. Thank you!!!!
Deepest sympathies and very sorry for your loss ma'am. I feel proud and honored to have witnessed your son's band live and even meeting him & lead guitarist Billy Roan @ Ozzfest 2000. I can still picture him riding his BMX bike around the side- stage courtyard of Blockbuster Pavilion in Charlotte, North Carolina once The Deadlights were finished with their mind-blowing performance. RIP Duke Collins- ROCK ON in the afterlife. :-(
This album is one of the best albums from 2000 hands down. Great song writting lyrically and musically. 2018 and still cranking it up LOUD! Such a great album. Never gets old!
I saw the Deadlights in Kansas City KS with Type O Negative, Coal Chamber, & Full Devil Jacket. Damn shame they split, though they were an extremely volatile group.
at last i get to see what the band looks like...bought the album in 2000 from Select 'A Disk in Nottingham and loved it then but only just remembered it existed a few days ago. Think i'm enjoying the album even more now...such an amazing mix of styles all pulled off with expertise...a pleasure to listen to all the way through. as everyone else has said...i wish they'd made more music for us to listen to...
I was hoping that this video would make its way to TH-cam...I saw it way back in the day, and loved it! These guys should have gone way farther than they did.
a little bit of nostalgia... back in mid 1998 we met this band at a "save ferris" free Kroq concert. after the show they where giving away there Demos (red tapes) to everyone that accepted them..... glad we did!!! this song along with the song AMPLIFIED where on it... and for the record, we opened up for them at the COCONUT TEASER in Los Angeles... they got signed that day :-) I bet noOne here knows there true band name......... before getting signed it was SUCTION!!!!!
I remember them back in the late 90s when they were still Suction. I seen them like 5 times all over the strip. How time flies. Glad you were part of that era.
ebetancourt11 Awesome!!! Do you remember the bass player.... always SPITING !!! yeah, time flies and somehow the memories remain... Keep rockin Out!!! 90s Rock not dead!
After their first album was released they got dropped from the label and also there was a lot of internal fighting so they broke up. Also the frontman passed
I used to see them all the time at house of blues in myrtle beach South Carolina all the time. I’ve seen pretty much anyone you can think of lol and I can honestly say I miss watching them play shows
In a sea of absolutely shitty nu metal bands, this band was one of the very few bright spots. Shame to see these guys didn't last long at all. Such an underrated album.
@@benben-sl7hi these guys are Nu metal with some grunge, that was popular combination, hard rock has died by the end of 80s please, if you like some nu metal band u have no need to say they arent nu metal
thanks for sharing. I saw these guys with coal chamber and type of negative on the road rage tour norfolk virginia. It's funny that I was there to see coal chamber but this was by far the better band.
As a massive fan of TON and I do like Coal Chamber, I just stumbled on these guys tonight and am both blown away and severely depressed to find out they not only put out one album but the frontman is deceased. As a northern NC native that goes to the Norfolk area for shows all the time, I am envious lol. Never got to see TON live either. Living vicariously through you 🤘🤘🤘
Can't find enough of this band's content at all 1 disc and I'm 57 , r.i.p. I make every asshole that that thinks godsmack has talent listen to this. Deadlights.
I saw them on Ozzfest 2000, they sounded amazing live and went right away and bought their album. I’m not even a fan of the nu metal trend but they were good.
this band was so heavy and raw when they were called, "suction". i still have the cassette single that was red with this song..which by the way, it is better than this version. it makes me so sad to s hear the loss of "Duke" whom was so cool and nice to his listeners... loved this band and continue to listen to them
The singer here, is Duke, (RIP-3/21/2015) my son, Thanks for sharing the link..:) Doing a memorial show for him in OC in March...;)

I am still a huge fan after all these years. It was an extreme honor to see these guys play live twice. This record means so much to me.
That's awesome. I love this album too. Start to finish. High quality.

I actually grew up with the lead singer. Wilfert Duke Collins. I miss him. But I still jam to him.
Recently rediscovered these guys, I bet I listened to this album hundreds of times in my youth. Still know all the words. RIP Duke
I still play this album at least once a month!!!

What the hell happened to the DeadLights? They truly were the next big thing. Way ahead of their time!! I need more of their music.
After their first album was released they got dropped from the label and also there was a lot of internal fighting so they broke up. Also the frontman passed
A masterpiece of an album. Every song is great!
Such a classic.
i finally found this song after 11 years i thought i would never find it again.Thank you

These guys were much heavier before they got signed. Glad I got to see them live
It's a regret I have re-discovering them live, that I missed them while Duke was in fact alive.
Love The Dead Lights! Saw them open for Megadeth and fell in love. Got to see them again at Ozzfest. I feel extreamly lucky.
This was my favorite song by them.

Saw these guys get booed off the stage...I believe it was opening for Static x in the 90s
