Yes, and the sister came across as so sweet (I'm just kidding). That lousy Karen, paying for dinner and then trying to make ammends with the sister, willing to appologize and try to make things better . . . What a rat. For all we know, Karen had good reason to suspect the worst. Who knows how many other "sisters" and "close family friends" she'd dealt with before. Or, it was just the innocent misunderstanding she took it for after it was explained, and she tried go appologize.
Anyone else think it's odd how often Jennifer and Trooper Proctor communicated? I have never known of a "witness" and a law enforcement officer needing to call each other this much. I could understand if it was Jennifer and Elizabeth Proctor communicating this often because she claims they were "friends", but to call the trooper this much is just weird to me.

Officer John O'Keefe wasn't driving. Karen was. LEO Brian Albert wasn't driving. His wife Nicole was. Higgins was driving (I think), but we have no idea how much any of them drank. All of those comments are based on assumptions that may or may not be true. I think a bartender commented about not overserving.
I guess that when your family are cops and very well connected to cops. In a small town like that They can get away with with anything just like what there trying to do here. But hopefully this case is going to make that stop once and for all.

My family member is a cop in boston(dorchester area) and I can 1000% say a lot of them are more sketchy than the people they arrest.
Jennifer McCabe has selective memory loss. She can recall anything that seems to implicate Karen Read as the "probable murderer" but needs a written document to verify her phone calls, statements to police or dates and times of her personal visits to investigators. Her responses seem to be very deceptive.🤔
I still don’t understand why Canton police took Karens SUV as evidence when they were not handling the case. The state police should have done it. Plus the Canton police video in the garage just happened to go down for the 45 they were handling Karen’s SUV. Too many suspicious events.

[not sure but had 2 do w/storm.) they authorized local police 2 do it. but local police had no proper containers or tools 2 do it & it was their 1st time following homicide protocol. they made do with what they had & asked a neighbor 4 cups & a paper bag. hope this helps a little? :)

The jury is supposed to use it to establish John O’Keefe’s state of mind. The jury is not allowed to consider it as evidence of Karen’s bad character or propensity to commit crimes. The jury can only consider it as motive or intent if evidence shows Karen was aware of John’s state of mind. It sure seemed like it was the CWs intent to use bad character evidence though but they failed miserably. Laura Sullivan’s testimony about John’s state of mind: He seemed distant. She asked if was ok and happy and he shrugged it off as if it was not serious/important. She persisted and gave him unsolicited “life is too short” advice and he said “it is what it is” and then told her he didn’t want to talk about it. Maybe he was distant because he was hungover. Maybe he was frustrated with his kids, his job, his drinking. Maybe it was Karen but he didn’t say it. John called her crazy when he was stumbling/glassy eyed drunk. In fact, maybe it actually showed John’s bad character, drinking all day on vacation with your kids and you can’t even stand up. Leaves Karen to handle working with the babysitter.

Things that bother me about Read: it is just my opinion, I find it unusual you would call and wake a friend who wasn’t at the Waterfall at 5 am and say “John is dead” then hang up. Just as weird is calling back and saying “I think John may be dead or hit by a plow driver, because he didn’t come home last night”. I find it odd you would automatically think your boyfriend is dead without any proof and before any body is found, just because he didn’t come home last night. To put this in perspective: O’Keefe is only missing about 4 1/2 hrs at this point (since Read last saw him about 12:30am) when she makes the call to Roberts and Read is already thinking he may be dead. Note also, it would have been normal for him to have stayed at the Alberts for at least one hour before leaving. So instead of 4 1/2 hrs it would then be about missing for 3 1/2 hrs by 5 am and she would have been thinking he is already dead? Also Roberts testified that Read told her “she was so drunk the night before, she does not remember anything”. She did not remember going to Fairview. The defence narrative was that Read was not inebriated, not slurring words nor drunk at the Waterfall. So who do you believe the defense that says she was not inebriated or the defendant herself who says she was and couldn’t remember the night before. And if she was so drunk she could not remember the night before, why did she appear on dateline months later and say she remembered dropping O’Keefe off and saw him walk up to the house?
I haven’t watched any other coverage on this case ,wow she said that she watched him walk in !! Poor kids they’ve really had a hard life so far. I can’t wait for them to take the stand,they know Karen too well!! Is it just me or is she still red in the face from Jenn’s testimony today?

I have not seen a trial that is so controlled on the cross and yet the state is allowed to bring in so much unrelated testimony that offers little to nothing in proving this case. Do they hope to prove it by the number of witnesses who offer little more than collective hate for KR.

That’s coached to witnesses by professionals. The idea is that the jury would find the witness more credible if she looks them in the eye when testifying. But it’s not working here, just as it didn’t work with Amber Heard. Heard did it with every single answer and it was obviously contrived. McCabe is doing it in a way that seems much more natural, but her combative tone is negating it.

It’s actually not that strange at all. May be Karen didn’t want to meet them or her and John didn’t socialise that much. They may not have lived locally. So many reasons why that could be. You will also find women that are possessive as KR appears to be don’t want their man to be around other women who they see as a threat. Ok, lets say the Alberts put a body at the end of their FRONT LAWN. So they risk being seen placing a body on the FRONT LAWN. Why not in their BACK yard where there are railroad tracks AND nobody living behind them? And the homeowner goes to a police officers funeral earlier in the day...invites a fellow police officer over( with his girlfriend)...only the fellow police officer(john) shows up ...so they ambush and kill him? I now totally believe she hit him either by accident or in anger, panicked, went home and then was overcome with grief and needed someone to help “find him”. @@christinab3019 People think there’s only one set of injuries that happen when you get hit by a car but depends on a lot of factors, the bodies angle when impacted the cars direction on impact, as well as if the person is holding something like a glass that could shatter and cause more injuries. You just have to use forensics and medical examiners and then some reasonable deduction. You still haven’t addressed my question though, who says “did I hit him” before finding the body if they didn’t hit them?

Jennifer did the prosecution more harm than good with her attitude. Answers the prosecution quickly, clearly, and concisely, pretty much how you would expect the witness to testify. Defence asks her questions, and it’s all attitude, weasel words, avoiding the question, getting her own narrative in there instead of answering the question, getting visibly angry, etc. not only did she undermine her own testimony, it’s very rare that you see a person present themselves on the stand as so incredibly unlikeable.

Correct, what is strange to me is, The mom died of cancer, a short time later like weeks the dad has a heart attack and dies. The family then says let's give the kids to John, a guy who has never been married or has kids and lived in a condo at the time. John was planning on moving in with his brother-in-law to help with the kids. The brother-in-law died of a heart attack. John stepped up, and did that because he wanted to. The BP took him out of danger and he changed jobs to something safer, off the streets so that it would be easier for him to raise the children. Everyone had great respect for John stepping up. That was the type of man John Okeefe was.

Higgins was driving (I think), but we have no idea how much any of them drank. All of those comments are based on assumptions that may or may not be true. I think a bartender commented about not overserving.

[not sure but had 2 do w/storm.) they authorized local police 2 do it. but local police had no proper containers or tools 2 do it & it was their 1st time following homicide protocol. they made do with what they had & asked a neighbor 4 cups & a paper bag.

The jury is supposed to use it to establish John O’Keefe’s state of mind. The jury is not allowed to consider it as evidence of Karen’s bad character or propensity to commit crimes. The jury can only consider it as motive or intent if evidence shows Karen was aware of John’s state of mind.
It sure seemed like it was the CWs intent to use bad character evidence though but they failed miserably.
Laura Sullivan’s testimony about John’s state of mind:
He seemed distant. She asked if was ok and happy and he shrugged it off as if it was not serious/important. She persisted and gave him unsolicited “life is too short” advice and he said “it is what it is” and then told her he didn’t want to talk about it.
Maybe he was distant because he was hungover. Maybe he was frustrated with his kids, his job, his drinking. Maybe it was Karen but he didn’t say it.
John called her crazy when he was stumbling/glassy eyed drunk.
In fact, maybe it actually showed John’s bad character, drinking all day on vacation with your kids and you can’t even stand up. Leaves Karen to handle working with the babysitter.

Things that bother me about Read: it is just my opinion, I find it unusual you would call and wake a friend who wasn’t at the Waterfall at 5 am and say “John is dead” then hang up. Just as weird is calling back and saying “I think John may be dead or hit by a plow driver, because he didn’t come home last night”. I find it odd you would automatically think your boyfriend is dead without any proof and before any body is found, just because he didn’t come home last night. To put this in perspective: O’Keefe is only missing about 4 1/2 hrs at this point (since Read last saw him about 12:30am) when she makes the call to Roberts and Read is already thinking he may be dead. Note also, it would have been normal for him to have stayed at the Alberts for at least one hour before leaving. So instead of 4 1/2 hrs it would then be about missing for 3 1/2 hrs by 5 am and she would have been thinking he is already dead? Also Roberts testified that Read told her “she was so drunk the night before, she does not remember anything”. She did not remember going to Fairview. The defence narrative was that Read was not inebriated, not slurring words nor drunk at the Waterfall. So who do you believe the defense that says she was not inebriated or the defendant herself who says she was and couldn’t remember the night before. And if she was so drunk she could not remember the night before, why did she appear on dateline months later and say she remembered dropping O’Keefe off and saw him walk up to the house?
I haven’t watched any other coverage on this case ,wow she said that she watched him walk in !! Poor kids they’ve really had a hard life so far. I can’t wait for them to take the stand,they know Karen too well!! Is it just me or is she still red in the face from Jenn’s testimony today?

That’s coached to witnesses by professionals. The idea is that the jury would find the witness more credible if she looks them in the eye when testifying. But it’s not working here, just as it didn’t work with Amber Heard. Heard did it with every single answer and it was obviously contrived. McCabe is doing it in a way that seems much more natural, but her combative tone is negating it.

It’s actually not that strange at all. May be Karen didn’t want to meet them or her and John didn’t socialise that much. They may not have lived locally. So many reasons why that could be. You will also find women that are possessive as KR appears to be don’t want their man to be around other women who they see as a threat. The Sullivan sisters are stunning with what appears vibrant personalities so that is also a possibility that KR saw them as a threat to her relationship.

You just have to use forensics and medical examiners and then some reasonable deduction.

Look up the picture of the Blue Jays fan who got hit with baseball. Same "goose egg" injury, followed by black eyes. John's skull fractured from the weight of the SUV, which then caused radiating fractured. There will likely be medical experts explaining the injuries

Jennifer did the prosecution more harm than good with her attitude. Answers the prosecution quickly, clearly, and concisely, pretty much how you would expect the witness to testify. Defence asks her questions, and it’s all attitude, weasel words, avoiding the question, getting her own narrative in there instead of answering the question, getting visibly angry, etc. not only did she undermine her own testimony, it’s very rare that you see a person present themselves on the stand as so incredibly unlikeable.
So if somebody's calling you a liar and accusing you of killing your friend or covering it up, you wouldn't be defensive? His questions were outrageous. Did you not notice him twisting her words constantly? I would be more worried if she wasn't defending herself against his accusations.

Correct, what is strange to me is, The mom died of cancer, a short time later like weeks the dad has a heart attack and dies. The family then says let's give the kids to John, a guy who has never been married or has kids and lived in a condo at the time. All along there is another uncle who is married and has kids about the same age . Not to mention John is a cop in a rough city. How was this a good idea that he should take the kids. I think these people make bad decisions and live like they are above the law. a lot of drinking and a lot of sleeping around.

John was planning on moving in with his brother-in-law to help with the kids. The brother-in-law died of a heart attack. John stepped up, and did that because he wanted to. The BP took him out of danger and he changed jobs to something safer, off the streets so that it would be easier for him to raise the children. Everyone had great respect for John stepping up. That was the type of man John Okeefe was.
