Most comedians are like, “when the audience thinks you’re going left, go right.” Sam is like, “when the audience thinks you’re going left, go lasagna.”
Didnt realise he was saying airpods until the punchline. I thought he was saying people leave airports on the train and he was swimming around in a bath of airports. Yet I didn't even question it because it's Sam.

It must be a generational thing. I remember a couple of quite out there acts from FNL and SNL back in the day - the Irish guy with the slide show ("This poor bastard....no arms....") and the Herman Munster looking guy who played Eastenders on a harmonica ("I'm worried about Arthur"). I would have been 17 or 18 I think, and I laughed so hard. Objectively, they weren't THAT funny, but at that time, they just tickled me. Somebody's enjoying this guy - good luck to 'em all :)

@@milesharbord9339it's just standard observational humour really. Telling relatable stories like when you go home with the train driver, it just shines a light on the funny things that happen to us all daily
What are you talking about? There’s literally a live audience. And they’re laughing. And you can see them laughing. That’s not a laugh track you weirdo.
Believe it or not, every comedy show you’ve ever watched has a laughter track added to it. Every stand up special has a laugh track added to it. If they’re were taken away the whole thing would be weird.
pathetic really. I am pretty clued up about most ‘jokes that comedians tell (well these days they”re not jokes, just observations) But that last bit about the airports in a bath tub etc…what was that about…I need someone to tell me. Honestly I want to know.
It's not his best routine, you should see his other shows, this is probably quite a nervous appearance with pressure on this performance to go well for him overseas
@@pudmuddle failed miserably then. Not funny, but he is young-ish and might learn. But not a genius by any means. someone should tell him, shouting is not comedy, it’s all about timing and irony. Comedians say funny things…simple.
Safe, Gen Z comedy. This won't age well. The present industry elevates dull, uncontroversial artists like this bland offering. While cancelling genius artists.
Why do people think he's FUNNY? It's just a put on voice repeated over and over with the same CADENCE. Anyone could be Sam Cambell if they said something and finished it like THIS.
Comedy like any art is subjective. Just because you don't find him funny doesn't mean he's not funny; just as just because I find him funny doesn't mean you have to find him funny. It's all subjective
Well since you asked: I find his weird stories/observations and mannerisms funny. He sort of uses traditional observational stand-up tropes but in a deliberately clumsy way, like he's messing with the structures and making punchlines from the "wrong" parts compared to what a conventional comedian might do. That subversion is really funny to me as someone who finds a lot of "regular" standup unfunny. A typical comedian would probably use the "I don't like the beach" bit to go on about annoying beachgoers or beach bodies or something, but Sam uses it to express bizarre grievances about ships not having brakes and fish having lights as body parts. I like how he frames those in a context that make them more surreal with lines like "it's like if you could only stop walking by grabbing a tree" and "I don't think I can come tonight, my light hurts" which were so funny to me, not just because of the line itself but also his delivery like he's mildly outraged about it. There's also this out-of-place eloquence and descriptiveness to the way he relates some things as though he's reading from a book or giving a speech, which obviously contrasts with the absurdity of the content and his general awkward mannerisms. The unexpectedness/uniqueness of what he makes out of all this, and how he phrases it, is why I think he's funny 👍
I've been spoilt rotten over the decades with some wonderfully funny men, so this guy has a hard act to follow. Unfortunately he, and a whole raft of so-called modern comedians the MSM force on us, fails miserably with the task of entertaining us and making us laugh.
