Solo travel can definitely have its ups and downs. Feeling scared or lonely is completely normal. You're incredibly brave for stepping out of your comfort zone and exploring the world on your own! 💪✈️

I had to learn to feel self assured & fulfilled in my own company; loneliness comes from within us not from outside us. We are in control of our own self worth. When you adopt this energy, you are never alone!

This is an especially resonate and important video! I'm a long-time fan and really appreciate the philosophical aspect of analyzing your experience while traveling shared here. Nice job and great quotes. I learned that I was alone no matter where I was, and loneliness is always there until acute observation of your surroundings replaces it. Write in a journal, take pictures, explain it to a blind person, or an elderly person who never got away like you did. ❤❤❤ Take them with you, if only in your mind and heart.

Thank you! I find you make some really good points here that really resonate for me and I am appreciative of your shares in this video and others. I am still in the states and never traveled outside of the country until I began to follow the teaching of Eckhart Tolle which took me around the globe to sit in his presence and move more deeply into silence from the place of no-thought. Amazingly I did really well alone and navigated the traveling quite well as well as interfacing with others. I am currently selling my home and moving abroad and have been watching your videos of which I find very helpful so please keep them coming 🙏🏻

Hi Rebecca! Thanks for your comment and sharing your experience. I'm a fan of Eckhart Tolle and his book, The Power of Now. I have gifted it to friends and family members. Good luck with your move! Where are you going abroad?

@@TravelingwithKristin Thank you, Kristan for the good wishes! I am headed to Bangkok, Thailand as soon as my home sells and I can make all the necessary arrangements. Although a newcomer in living abroad not a newcomer with social skills even if slow on the draw with speaking other languages. Sitting with Eckhart thru many retreats and working one on one with his wife Kim Eng on the pain body was a dream. And yes, gifting others with their work I identify. I thought a lot of Eckhart’s words as you shared thru out your video as he has great words to say on the topic of loneliness and in fact sees it as a mental construct. Your videos and journey have felt so inspiring and I relate to the solitude amidst the masses. Also loved your video on,your not feeling as though you had a real home base while traveling. As I sit here in my second home in the states not feeling at home at all, and truly like a foreigner here -not recognizing the country any longer.

Awesome Kristin.! Each word here come out of your own experiences and emotions that you've felt over the years as a nonstop traveller or nomad. And absolutely relate to me. I was smiling as you're explaining various levels of homesickness while being abroad. But..I believe it becomes less severe once you're accustomed to the lifestyle of a nomad. And you're looking so ravishing. 👌

It's great that you made this video! There have been times when I have traveled places by myself where I have imagined sharing the experiences with someone else. However, I still want to keep on traveling nevertheless. Other than family, most of my friends tend are pretty much away from where I live. I feel that if I were to move to someplace else, I would want to be in an area where there are a lot of like-minded people who enjoy heading out on adventures or doing activities together. My niece had just moved to Austin from Michigan a couple months ago, and she has found a great community of people which she really enjoys. She has told me that she has been the happiest she's ever been. It feels great that there are so many ways out there where you can not feel lonely when traveling or living somewhere else long term. Thanks for all of these reminders!

As a salesperson for most of my life I have learned to embrace being alone. I keep myself occupied watching videos from creators like you. I also enjoy trying new food and doing new adventure. Get out of the room and walk you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel. Set specific times and dates to FaceTime/zoom with family members. I have a set time on Sunday morning to video with my adult children. I may have to adjust that time based on what time zone I’m in.

Yes indeed, Tokyo, I visited last year to go to operas and concerts and had a couple of contacts to meet. Japanese are charming and kind, but also reserved and often shy when it comes to speaking English. There won't be as many casual conversations as a traveller might be used to.

People start too soon with relationships, they dont know how to live the live they are suposed to live, alone you learn to absorbe more things and you have to absorbe them way harder. We are not a species that go everywhere always as a couple but man did man stuff while woman did the stuff women did. Are the loners stronger? Yes they are, but only in things you can do while alone. Most loners do not even know what they are capable off, that's not good and we should always take ourselves a step further. Hey Kristin, you still look amazing, stay happy!

Whenever I feel loneliness I ask myself - at that moment - what am I going to do about it? The answer will be either do an activity I enjoy or find people to be with. Applies equally whether you are at home or travelling. The answer is never "stay in my room doing nothing"

Feeling alone in Tokyo, New York City, and other big cities is common. You just disappear in the crowd and no one cares. Living in small cities is much better, particularly if you stand out as a foreigner, then locals, particularly in collectivistic cultures, will go out of their way to be friendly to you. Get out of big cities, they’re awful for most people.
