- I did several small shopping trips this week, checking out the sales at Aldi and the deals at Kroger. I especially wanted to take advantage of the new "Buy 1 Get 1 Free Deals" at Kroger this week. Come see what bargains I got as I shop for our large family of 6 on a monthly budget of $500. #grocerybudget #groceryhaul #groceryshopping

My KY Kroger has ground beef at $3.99 for 85/15. But we don't have bogo chicken this week. The other things were the same as your store.
Hmmm. That is really interesting that our meat sales differ! 🤷♀️Glad you see the other deals though!
Just roast the chicken in the oven and season it with herbs, salt and pepper for the instructions. Just use it like the cooked chickens brought instore. If there is space in your oven you can roast more than one.
Do you have a certain temp you roast your chickens at? And for how long? I am sure it is easier than I think...ha. I just need to do it! 😂
@@joyfullythriving I roast at 350 for 90 minutes. I put melted butter mixed with a few seasonings under the skin and then brush oil over the whole bird. I throw some garlic, half a lemon, and a few pieces of celery inside the cavity.

Hi Kristen! I’m always willing to go over budget for sales, especially meat sales. As I know in the long run it’ll save me money. It all evens out in the long run. Thank you for sharing your hauls with us. Even though we don’t have a Kroger or any big box stores anywhere close to us, I still love seeing yours! 💃
There is something fun about watching other people grocery shop, isn't there? 😂 I love it too! 🥰 And yay for stocking up on sales - wherever and whenever we find them! 😊
I love how you interact with your son! ❤️ Great haul!! ❤️
Thank you!! 😊
You’re welcome!! ❤️
For a baked (or roasted chicken), I like to take a chicken, rub olive oil all over it, sprinkle liberally with kosher salt and rosemary and roast until done. Nice and juicy and delicious. Easy to do.
Thanks for sharing! They were out of the chickens today so I am hopefully I can grab one at a different Kroger tomorrow on the last day of the sale!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Loads of love to you and your wonderful family ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much! ❤❤❤❤❤
Nice haul! Caleb is adorable!
Thank you!! 😊
Went to Fry’s (Kroger in Tucson) yesterday. 80/20 burger on sale for $2.97#, sold in 3#pkgs, no limit. I bought 4pkgs😋. Only bought sale items and manager’s specials, resulting in a 20% savings on the entire transaction.
Watching your videos has helped me be more observant of what I spend my money on 😁
Love it!! First of all, that is a great deal on ground beef - especially with no limit! I am proud of you for stocking up and taking full advantage of that sale! 👏 And yay for the savings too! I am glad my videos have helped you think about your shopping a bit more. Hopefully, only in a helpful and encouraging way! 😉
I really enjoy your channel and you ideas about saving. I too live in Indiana Evansville. Thanks for sharing and I again want to tell you I really enjoy you.
Awesome! Thank you so much! It makes my day to hear from others are enjoying my videos, and the tips I have to share! ❤ Always nice to have a fellow Hoosier here too!
I love watching your videos!! Even though it’s just me, 68 . I don’t need to buy a lot. But it’s fun to watch!! And I taught all my kids when they were growing up how to do what you’re doing!!! 😊
Yay! Thank you! And what a good Mom to teach your kids this from a young age. That is my goal as well. I want my kids to have these frugal shopping habits ingrained in them so they naturally shop this way when they are someday on their own. ❤
My favorite recipe for baked chicken is this. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a roasting pan put in one 14-16:oz.can of diced stewed tomatoes,2 medium carrots pared and thinly sliced, two medium onions, chopped, and one bay leaf.Mix together one half teaspoon of rosemary and one teaspoon of thyme and put some inside the chicken and on
the outside of the chicken. Pour two cans of condensed chicken broth over the top.Bake for at least one and three fourths hours, longer if necessary. Baste the chicken as it roasts using the juice from the roasting pan. Salt and pepper the chicken according to your preference. The left over chicken and juices can be made into soup.
Thank you for that recipe! I am definitely going to try baking a whole chicken soon!
I’m 55 and just cooked my first whole chicken two years ago and it was so good! And embarrassingly easy 😅 I even used Joanna Gaines recipe which was a bit more complicated, but my husband loved it so I’ll make time to do it again. Great video as usual and what a fun trip to the zoo!!
Whew. Then I can figure it out too! 😂 I think you are right. It's one of those things that seems harder than it is. It's the cleaning out the inside of the chicken (and turkeys) that I have to get over. 😳
@@joyfullythriving buy a pkg of those disposable plastic gloves and wear those. Throw out stuff you are too grossed out to use. I will use it all but the heart. I refuse to use the heart.
In West Central Ohio we get 4x times fuel points on Fridays only. We get 2x every day with Boost. It’s $59 a year for free pickup, lots of extra coupons, and recently it provided a bunch of free items.
I have heard some really good things about the perks of Boost! Glad it is helping you save money at Kroger! 💰
Great video, as always. Thanks for sharing!
You bet! And thank you as always for watching! 😊
Enjoyed the video. Your son is absolutely the sweetest little man!! You did good deals!!
Thank you so much, Jackie! Caleb is my most outgoing and loves being part of the videos!
Publix had a bogo deal this week on the type of food my cat loves. They are normally $1.20 per can but I got them for $0.60 per can. I may go back this weekend and buy more if they still have some left. I do love a good bogo sale!
You and me both! Way to take full advantage of the deal - especially since it is something you (or rather your cat!) needs anyway!
Thank you ❤
You're welcome...as always! ❤️
Some really super deals this week 😊 Caleb is so sweet ❤ God Bless You 😊❤
Thanks so much, Rita! Caleb loves sharing with all of you too! ❤
Thank you for sharing with us. Love the little clips of Caleb at the zoo.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was our pleasure! ❤
Thank you
You're welcome!
My fav 5x digital @ Ralphs here in Los Angeles county: 3.49 Challenge 1# butter, 3.99 on 77-81oz Clorox Bleach and 1.99 Snyder family size Pretzels 😊
Enjoyed seeing happy scenes of Caleb's zoo adventures especially grooming the goat ❤ It's been awhile since my grandsons were that age. My youngest grandson is 6 and the other 3 are all teenagers 😊
The Challenge butter is a good one! And yes, the Synders pretzels. I was tempted to buy some but since I just bought the bag at Aldi, skipped this time. And yes! Caleb loves brushing the goats. Kids grow so fast, I am sure he will be a teenager before I am ready! 😩
I loved the monkey joke! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤗🥰
😂 I had asked Caleb if he wanted to say hi, and he said no, but he is 4 with a mind of his own, because as soon as he heard me talking, he came running in! 😆 I liked how he was trying to hold up and show off the tomatoes too.
Just went to my Kroger and it’s $2.99 for chicken not bogo 😫 I usually stock up at the bogo rate
Awww. Man! What is up with Kroger this week? The main meat deal seems to be changing all over everyone! At least your chicken is on sale...some people are getting bogo on pork butt!?!?! 🤷♀️
Loving you sharing your little human monkey along with all your deals.😊
I asked Caleb if he wanted to say hello and he said no...then promptly ran in as soon as I started recording! 😂
Love your channel and am starting to be more aware of more stores in our area. Just started clipping digital coupons last week and am amazed at the savings!!!
Huge score yesterday on two family-size packages of bone-in chicken thighs (87 cents per pound) and 3 gallons of whole milk ($1.97 each) for a total of $13 and some change. Saved 52% on those 5 items at my local Albertsons, which is a higher-priced store in my area (TX).
Normally shop at Aldi, Sam’s, and Walmart, but mostly Aldi.
That is awesome! I am SO excited for you! Becoming aware is the first step - and look how much you already saved on a couple things! Woo-hoo! You've got this. Keep watching those sale ads because Albertsons is like Kroger. Definitely higher price, but some amazing sales!
You found some really good deals, I do wish we had a Kroger! I hope Caleb enjoys pre school and that all your kids have a great school year! Thanks for the great video!
Thanks so much!! Caleb loved his first two days...and all my kids are exhausted as we settle back into school routines. And yes! I wish everyone had a Kroger too. Hopefully they keep expanding!
I know you said you don’t have an Amazon fresh store but anyone that does they have 80/20 ground beef for 1.99 a pound for prime members. They also have an additional 10 dollar off when you spend 50.
Wow! That's a great deal! Thanks for sharing...so hopefully someone else can grab that deal! Stock up for me, will you? 😉 That is the best price I have seen in a looooong time!
Thank you for sharing your deals with me appreciate you and all you do ❤️ have a blessed weekend 🙏🙏🙏 I pray your son has a wonderful first day pulls on your heartstrings I'm sure 😃
Thanks so much Elizabeth! Caleb had a great first day and was excited to go back for the second too.
The Simply Juice is $2.99 @ Kroger, where our Aldi is $3.35.
Thanks for including us! Cute trip to the zoo!😊
Isn't it interesting how the sales at Kroger often beat Aldi's low prices? 🤔 Just another reason to shop at both places!
great deals!
Thanks, Betty! 😁
I was able to grab 8 of the pizza flour at Sam's for 1.91 each for 5 pounds.
Yay! I am so glad you got the good flour deal too! I have been impressed by the flour - and the price we scored! 🥳
I'd be disappointed in you if you didn't go over budget to get the great meat deal :) I was watching a TH-cam video last week and she told her viewers to try to save money early in the month in case you run across a great deal later because it would be a shame if you didn't have the money to buy it; I thought nope, just go over budget! Now I realize some may not have that option but for us, I do have a monthly budget, but I consider it more of a running budget, some months I go over, some under, the important thing for me is if I'm flush at the end of the year!! Last year I averaged $15 under budget per month, I have since dropped my budget by $25 a month, right now I'm running so far under budget that I'm planning on buying a small chest freezer with some of the surplus, the rest I'll save for the holidays when I'm always over budget!
Ha! You TOTALLY get me! 😂😍 And yes, somehow, it all seems to balance out. I've been tracking my budget for so many years now, that I have definitely seen that happen time and time again. Good for you in reducing your budget, and I absolutely LOVE that you are saving the surplus for a chest freezer. So smart!
Shopping with Shanna has a Kroger flyer out usually on Sundays all locations vary on gas points
I live in So IN and instead of the BOGO chicken, ours is BOGO Whole Pork Boston Butt
Really? That is in interesting swap! 🤷♀️
Awesome 😊
Thanks 🤗
Watched your hamburger video. How many pounds of meat do you mix with one pack of French onion soup? Thanks!
I use one packet for around 2.5 pounds of meat. Usually. Ha. I just eyeball it. You could probably do one packet for around 1 pound for a bit of a stronger flavor if you want. There's really no right or wrong. Just depends on how strong you want the onion flavor! I'd start with 1 packet per 2 pounds - and adjust from there.
@@joyfullythriving Thanks!!
So with the clementines, you can use the digital coupon to buy more than 1 bag and get the deal? I didn't realize that one.
Yes! You can buy up to 5 bags of clementines. All of the weekly deals now (for these special ones) allow you to use the coupons up to 5 times!
A gallon of milk is 3.59 at my local Kroger now. 😢
Eek. Milk is starting to go back up in price it seems! Milk has gone up everywhere else around me so I am guessing our Kroger's price is going to increase soon too. 🙄
If you have ever made a whole turkey in the oven then you can make a whole chicken, same process just less cooking time, you've got this!
My deals of the week:
Frozen tamales.49, already gone ,ate them for lunch
White peaches.99 a pound
Empress plums .99 a pound
Organic Shishito peppers 12 oz pack .99
Organic canned beans.99 each
Chicken breast $1.25 a pound, going to get more of that later in the week
I love tamales! Those would be gone quick here too. Great deals - especially on the chicken breast! Wow! 🎉👏😍
❤❤❤Love the video
Thanks, Carol! 🥰
Is there a way that you can show us how to use the Kroger app? I just moved to an area with lots of Kroger stores and am having trouble understanding the app: how to clip the digital coupons, how to find the specials, etc. The app isn’t super user friendly. So I tend to watch you to see what specials are happening!
Yes! I actually was just thinking about that the other day. Stay tuned next month and I will get that video up for you in September. Promise! Until then (and after too, of course!), I am glad to help you see what specials are available! I am glad you have Kroger stores close and definitely want to help you take full advantage of the sales!
Me, too! I would love to figure out how to use digital coupons as that seems to be so popular now
@@joyfullythrivingthanks so much!! I appreciate it. Since we moved 12 hours away it’s time to restock our chest freezer!
@@imusthavethemountains_ Ohhhh. Restocking the freezer is always fun! At least to me, that is definitely my kind of fun...having the space to fill with grocery bargains! 😉
I either roast my own chicken(s) or get two from Sam's - cool them, and immediately take all the chicken off the bones and cut it up and portion it into bags so that if I want to make a quick stir fry or casserole, I already have the chicken cut up. I save a couple out to use during the week and freeze the rest. The cut-up pieces thaw a lot faster than whole breasts or thighs. My family does not like the meat from the legs, but if I mix that in cut up with the breast meat, they don't even notice which is which - LOL! Then I break down the carcasses and boil them up right away, along with the discarded skin, and strain for chicken stock/broth. A big mess, but it's all done in a couple of hours and I'm set for several meals.
Yes! I do that a lot too, because $5? How can you beat that?!?! I am not a dark meat fan but my husband loves it so that works out here. That's smart to cut it up and freeze and make your broth right away. I tend to freeze the bones and skins until I have a couple in a bag and then do my stock in my instant pot. But I haven't done that in awhile. Maybe I need to again soon.
If u have a food lion near you hamburger meat is 3.99 80% lean until Tuesday
Good deal for those of you with a Food Lion! Thanks for sharing!

Walgreens had arm n hammer tiny bottle for 1.99
I'd use arm n hammer but they all make me itch
I hear you. We started using the fragrance free one for my daughters eczema and now it is hard for me to use any scented detergent!

Some one else commented the same! That is interesting that the meat deal is so different this week. Hmmm.
