40 years ago on this day (April 15, 2024) you sadly passed away ... the best comedian I have come across in my lifetime ... you are unforgettable and it is still so much fun watching you here on TH-cam ... thank you for all those wonderful memories ... may you continue to rest in peace ... - Lucretia 🤣🤣🤣
Tommy once took his act to Broadway. On his second night after his act he found a note from the theatre manager in his dressing room. The note read "Mr Cooper, you will really have to practice more. You made the same mistakes tonight that you made last night." Some people just don't get it.
A fully paid up member of The Magic Circle and capable of many complex illusions, he was the envy of many of his contemporaries, who wished they'd thought of the comedy mis-timing approach. As a teenager, I often saw him whizzing about on his 50cc moped, around Chiswick, West London, looking like a circus bear on one of those tiny cycles. A superlative entertainer, his personal life was troubled with domestic issues and his excessive intake of alcohol (along with medical strapping) to combat his life-long back problems. RIP Tommy.
Tommy Cooper will always be remembered as a great comedian who brought fun and laughter into peoples lives, we need comedians like him today more than ever to help lift our spirits in a more serious world blighted with the Coronavirus.
“I was cleaning out the attic with the wife the other day, filthy dirty and covered in cobwebs-but she’s good with the kids...” Just thought I would add this, it’s my favourite joke of his.😂😂😂
A man has been found dead on the pavement, outside an ice cream van.he was covered in chocolate sauce and hundreds and thousands. Police say he topped himself!thank you very much, ha ha!
Tommy Cooper I could watch him all night very very funny man .bring tears to my eyes with laughter . You will never ever see another guy like this. There will only be one Tommy Cooper And no one will ever take his place .in my eyes never for got
A genius of comedy! I was 12 when he died, but I still remember watching him make his final performance on the "Live From Her Majesty's" variety show... had a heart attack on stage in the middle of the act. Everybody thought it was part of the act and applauded wildly as he was dragged through the curtains. The guy died doing what he loved and kept people laughing till the very end. How many others out there would take pleasure in having people laugh at you as you die?
I heard of this comedian in a few interviews with Ian McDiarmid, aka Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. Ian said Tommy Cooper is one of his favorite comedians, and he and Mark Hamill both enjoyed Tommy and more British humor when they met to make Return of the Jedi. Ian said that when he was filming the scenes where Palpatine was electrocuting Luke, and Mark was off camera, Mark would sometimes be beside the camera doing Tommy's "just like that" hand movements to make Ian laugh. Ian jokingly said he was "no help at all," and the only reason he didn't laugh was because he had enough makeup on to keep a straight face, and, "If only Mark had stayed in his dressing room that day." ROFLMAO!!! :P
Tommy has got to be one of my favorite comedians. He is unique compared to the comedians of today. He does most of his with in magic or just the simple cheesey jokes, but comedians now swear or just stand on a stage and talk. He never did this. If he was still around now, even though he would be very old, I would love to meet him.
I hear you, but for me that’s a good thing as it means the legend that is the one and only Tommy Cooper shall endure in perpetuity: and rightly so #genius
my grandpa has video tapes of tommy cooper, and whenever me and my younger brother would go over there we were so excited when he asked, 'who wants to watch tommy cooper?' :')
Sitting there reading the magazines, about Titanic hahahahahahahahahahahaha and waving for more laughter Genius.I had a Rocking Horse once and it died..............the constant flow of gags from this man is unmatched.
Tommy Cooper, in my opinion was the best ever and no comedian today comes close, people say how bad tommy's jokes were and about his failed magic tricks but he was an actual professional magician and was part of the magic circle and no one mentions when he gets them right
Steven McBrien he is not the funniest man who lived he's an idiot no talent little bitch that's not comedy it's shit at least he's dead no more shit comedy fuck him may he rot In hell where he belongs
In my opinion he is and always will be one of England's many genuinely talented entertainers. He had his own unique style that only he and could do and no matter how bad or flawed some of his acts came across they were meant to go like that. Not many people know that he was a member of the magic circle and could perform quite good tricks. From his facial expressions,to the cheesy jokes,to the failed magic tricks and finally down to the timing it was all done in perfect order. Also humor in general was a lot more simpler back then and it was what I call butlins humor that people were used to. Now comedy is a lot more diverse, ranged and technical these day's. Regardless of all the comedian's that have come and gone and will continue to appear Tommy Cooper is one of the best....
Yes, he could have lived on for years being a drunk and a wife beater. I bet his wife was relieved that he dropped dead even if his audiences miss him.
‘He got run over by a brewery wagon. It was the first time the drinks were on him." Tommy Cooper was once visiting Japan. He spoke no Japanese and his taxi driver spoke no English, but Tommy still made him laugh so much he crashed into a wall.
It's humor that not everyone will get or appreciate. I for one do. I loved TC and Ronnie Barker and others from that era. The "comedy" today is crass, crude and snide comments about others. Swearing every other word.
Oh stop being so politically correct. Crude, offensive comedy that explores dark topics is just as valid as the great work of Tommy Cooper. Don’t be such a snowflake
Tommy was a great comedian, God bless him. He never had to use the 'F' word a million times to make people laugh. He always makes me laugh after all these years. Making people laugh is an art form and he just happened to be very good at it.
Tommy Cooper was a genius 👏 My Late Dad lived near Tommy Cooper in the 1960s in Acton in West London My Dad said he also saw Tommy Cooper going in to a pub in Chiswick Dad said he was was with some people and had his fez on
During the War he boosted morale at the Darkest of Times.. He never ever spoke about his wartime.( his Fez was a reminder for the veterans after the War). " Tommy" was a Genius and a Great comedian. The man , the Artist.🏴
Interesting to notice how Tommy Cooper (and indeed many of the comedians, shows and personalities of this era) seem so much more 'adult' than the foul-mouthed crass and bitter comedians we have today, whilst at the same time completely suitable for children. The 'adult' jokes in his show are subtle enough to go straight over youngsters heads, whilst the slapstick elements are executed well enough not to irritate more mature viewers.
My god the funny hilarious timing and the way big tommy the cooper dilevord the jokes and the comedy tommy even good tell the crabest stupid jokes and make them sound hilarious and do crabbe stupid scratches he wos the only even stand up cemedian that ciod pull it of and that is without question the funniest greatest cemedian that ever hit the stage 😂
Miranda Hart just posted a link to this on twitter, which I clicked on (no idea what it was going to be, just trusting her judgement). When it brought me here I knew it was a worthwhile choice. Tommy Cooper is an utter legend :)

Thats so strange id convinced myself he was still alive when i was a baby im 38 must of just still been on the telly so often🙂
“ I had a rocking horse once, it died” ABSOLUTELY KILLED ME😂😂😂😂😂❤️
He should've been paid double. To be a comedian and magician at the same time is very impressive.
Tommy once took his act to Broadway. On his second night after his act he found a note from the theatre manager in his dressing room. The note read "Mr Cooper, you will really have to practice more. You made the same mistakes tonight that you made last night."
Some people just don't get it.
No kidding. And yet they got Andy kaufman.
I'm not surprised, this is awful.
Blurt It’s alright. Can’t buy a good sense of humour!
Well us Americans are mostly unintelligent. We like simple stuff

RIP Tommy.
The only comedian I've seen who could walk onstage and have the audience in stitches before he'd even said a word. Pure genius.
yeah...he hated that i heard
You mean apart from Eric Morcambe..
Rowan Atkinson can do that
and billy connolly has people laughing b4 he speaks
Nevermind that he had people in stitches as he literally died on stage
I saw Tommy Cooper peform live in Eastbourne, Sussex in the 70's. He was hilarious. I have never laughed so much in all my life.
Graham Millward Wow! Was it just Tommy or did he have a support act? Do you remember how long he performed for ? Sorry for the nerdy questions.
Aw, I would love to have seen him live!

Also the wife-deer joke is hilarious too.
Can't remember the exact wording of it though.
A man has been found dead on the pavement, outside an ice cream van.he was covered in chocolate sauce and hundreds and thousands. Police say he topped himself!thank you very much, ha ha!
He said it's the way you tell them, and it's true. Coming from anyone else these jokes would be corny, but when it's Tommy I can't stop giggling.
how could anyone thumbs down any Tommy Cooper clip is beyond Me.comic genius
Either Germans or leftists.
Probably because the audio cuts out 2/3rds of the way through the video. Great comedian, bad upload.

Watched it too, I was 9. So sad the next morning when mum told me the news.
Red Foxx. That's who.

A truly brilliant, hilarious and talented man, and, at least judging by the end of this video, also apparently a mime.
I'm an American, and I can honestly say that when it comes to comedy, the British are the greatest.

Stop kissing ass, your nose is covered in shit
@@Tonys_Gabagool my guy, he's just saying a compliment...

I agree with you!!!
This is art. His performance his timing his mannerisms his magic tricks were so well thought out and done
My wife has lovely blond curly hair down her back, None on her head, just down her back.
I used to watch Tommy Cooper when I was younger age, and watching him again is still funny : )
In my opinion the greatest comedian and naturally funny man ever.
Tommy was brilliant, like Freddie Starr so original, I am so grateful I was growing up and seen these on tv, truly both unique, RIP both of you
"I went to the dentist. He said my teeth are alright but my gums have got to come out". Absurd but funny.
Another legend we dont see comedy like this anymore
That was great, way to keep a legend alive well done, we all miss tommy terribly and we wish him rest in peace

Genius.. he even had everyone roaring with laughter when he dropped dead on stage
😅😂😂😂😂
Shit stain
my grandpa has video tapes of tommy cooper, and whenever me and my younger brother would go over there we were so excited when he asked, 'who wants to watch tommy cooper?' :')
Tommy was unique as a comedian and a magician his skill at deliberately wrecking a trick that he could do flawlessly was what made him so funny
I remember watching the Royal Variety show and seeing Tommy collapse, I was in tears all night long.
R.I.P Tommy Cooper - Comedy Genius
I can hardly understand what he’s saying but did laugh when he said - on the other hand, 4 fingers and a thumb 😄
He came on stage with hands like bunches of bananas !
That people like this great man ever existed proves that magic is real and a very few people are blessed wih....one of the greatest.
It wasn't the joke so much as it was the way Tommy said it with all the physical mannerisms. One of a kind !
Yes he was a fantastic comedian RIP TOMMY ❤❤
Amazing....always brightens my day this legend, jus' like that
Comedy for all ages. RIP Tommy.
He is the best comedian ever in history and pay respect for this guy. Rest in peace Tommy.

Don't care what anyone thinks....tommy cooper funnyman...crying laughter
I’m here from a Rodney Dangerfield reaction video. The UK reactor compared him to Tommy Cooper and suggested we check it out. Glad I did!
Shame the audio cut out at around 2 minutes.
Can't believe it has been 20 years since he passed away. A truly, funny man.

Ben Tranter Sure Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle are more upfront but they're gold.
There was so much planning went into it. Everything he did was well thought out and rehearsed.
Stewart Lee isn't that foul mouthed and has some of the most thoroughly planned routines I've seen.

It's warmer. Today's snide, sneering, oh so weary with life, PC comedians are a product of the nosedive our society has taken in the last 40 years
