    I rescued a 5 year old female Sulcata recently. When I added her to my group, the first thing she did, was eat doodie from another tortoise, she didn't even walk a foot! I did some research, and found that it's totally normal, she likely needed some bacteria missing from her gut. She had loose doodies when I got her, and in a week, they were normal looking. Tortoise's know what they need.

    My favorite part about owning a herbivorous reptile is watching them eat. It's just so cool to see them devour a plant.

    Some mulberry trees we have up here in New England can get absolutely enorgmous given 20+ years. One tree can drop thousands upon thousands of berries each year. They can make very attractive trees in a traditionally landscaped yard as well.
    Black currants also grow really well up here.

    What is also a great way to find out what they love to eat, is to lookup where your species of tortoise come from and look up what kind of plants, fruits and veggies they grow in that particular area. And just add them together. Then you will have no issues or problems with what kind of food you can give your toirtoise and what not.

    Hello sir, I really like what you do and I enjoy watching your videos. I happen to have a question, so about an hour ago I found a tortoise walking on the street. I can't figure out what breed he/she is. It looks like a Cherry Head but he is slightly orange, and he has a hinge that he can close to hide his front side. Also his shell does not look like any Cherry Head I've seen. Do you have any idea what breed she/he is?

  • @tsukiomilover
    @tsukiomilover 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been trying my best to research on desert tortoise diets. I've noticed most, if not all tortoises have the same types of diets and I saw one one list that rose petals are apparently good for baby tortoises. Does it have to be wild roses or can I just get one from a nursery? Like maybe a mini rose bush?

    Where do you sell tortoises? Or where can I see what you have available? Just doing research on them since I currently can't own a tortoise as my 16 year old Chihuahua is... get this... allergic to tortoises. lol Once, she encountered a native Texas Tortoise and she broke out in hives (years ago.) So when she passes is when I'll get a tortoise. Until then, I shall research the perfect tortoise for my area. :)
