  • 1st April 1995 saw the launch of another dramatic, all-action BTCC season at the start of a long, hot summer in which the world’s best touring car racers raised the temperature to boiling point.
All 13 race weekends (apart from the British Grand Prix) featured two thrilling tin-top rounds and this terrific three hour review includes the very best of BBC TV’s extensive coverage, presented by Steve Rider, with commentary by the one and only Murray Walker.
Exciting team changes in 1995 kept interest levels high with British Le Mans hero Derek Warwick diving into the Alfa seat previously held by reigning champ Gabriele Tarquini, Nissan pulled out and Honda stepped in, and Johnny Cecotto took over the reins for BMW.
It was the sensational Vauxhall Cavaliers driven by determined Scot John Cleland and fiery young Yorkshireman James Thompson that dominated the leaderboard, consistently pulling the rug from under chief rivals Rydell (Volvo), Menu (Renault), Radisich (Ford) and other tough opponents.
Constant lead changes, door-to-door jousting and numerous ‘racing incidents’ feature highly in this fast and furious racing frenzy, highlighted by superb on-board camera which puts you in the hot seat with the gladiators of the tarmac!

Genuinely think cars in general are all similar now due top ncap safety regulations. Notice the front of cars are all a certain hight. The bonnet has to a certain hight above the engine incase you hit a pedestrian the head diesnt hit the engine block. Cars look bulkier in general now, then they stick all the same type of aero and skirts aswell. Cars before the turn of the millennium were sleaker, lower front ends and then for racing, you slammed it on stiff suspension and added a integrated spoiler and splitter.
