- Weighing your goats can be a big hassle. Even when you have a scale getting the animal to it in a timely fashion to figure out a quick medicine dosage isn't always practical. Sometimes you might just want to grab a quick weight on a goat to make sure it's doing well. This is why being able to measure a goat and determine its weight in the field quickly is so valuable.

A very easy and cost effective method for checking the weight of my Boer Goats
New family member here. Thanks for this. Wasn’t sure how we would estimate the weight on our sheep for drenching, but this should get us in the ballpark.

Was that chest x's chest x's length and then total divided by 300?
Example 35 x 35 x 30 = 36,750 /300 =122.5
+South Of Eden Farms Yes. Heart girth x heart girth x length. I have found it to be very accurate if you are consistent. Wait to do the heart girth measurement until the animal is relaxed. Also I always measure the left side of the animal for length and always make sure the animal is straight.
I knew you could do it with pigs, but not goats
This is just superb, I have been researching "sell boer goats" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Chloetey Boer Goatify - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work buddy got amazing results with it.
