  • DIY goat and sheep handling system. Here is what we use to make sorting, deworming, hoof trimming, and handling much easier with a holding pen, crowd pen, squeeze chute, flip table, cut gate, and loading chute.
    If you are looking for goats and sheep for sale in the Northwest Alabama area, contact me 256-668-3014 or check out our website www.rollingofarm.com to see what I currently have available.

    Excellent! I hope we can do something like this. I usually have 6 or 8 sheep. The older we get the harder it is to take care of them. We are 70.

    Troubleshooting after going over to help a fellow homesteader vaccinate an unruly, horned buck. He's about 120lbs and way more than can be handled without a squeeze chute for sure. This is really helpful in visualizing how I might help them get control of their big boy!

    @VikingGrazers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just want to say thank you for the video.
    I made my first handling system earlier this year out of pallets and it didn't work so well. Now I've read up more on how best to design it from a sheep's point of view I came across your video and it looks a hell of a lot easier than my current one.
    it is so wet here that I can't get my truck and trailer over to where I built it. Didn't occur to me how bad it would get. So I'm going to look into tearing it down, relocating it to the other opposite end of the field and starting again.
    How wide is your race/chute please? Mine was seemingly too narrow in one point and too wide in another and they got stuck. #Rookieproblems

    • @rollingofarm
      @rollingofarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My chute is 20" wide, which is too wide for most ewe and goats (they can turn around in it), but I want to be able to fit my largest rams through it too.

    can you tell me how wide you made your handling alleyways and if you'd do them any different (wider or more narrow). I plan to make mine out of pipe with everything welded and I don't want to make any errors! I have goats...about 50 and we just catch all of them to worm and vaccinate. It's truly a rodeo and very stressful for all involved. Would like to work smarter!

    • @rollingofarm
      @rollingofarm  หลายเดือนก่อน

      My alleys are 20”, which is a little too wide for most (smaller ones can turn around). However, a big Kiko buck with wide horns has trouble getting through it. So it’s kind of a compromise.
