It was such lovely weather to be going to on a fun ride across some beautiful Leicestershire country! Thoroughly enjoyed myself even when Carrie was being a tit! Lets hope she quits doing that by the time hunt season starts again!!

That would have never been an option for me anyway. And having a lead gives me confidence, I'm sure Carrie would have jumped it without a lead! I'm just a wuss 😅
Looks like a lovely ride with jumps for all abilities. Shame it's such a popular ride. I like to go first or last horse to avoid the rush.

I kept my boy at Livery in The New Forest for 20 odd years, terrific riding country. J was a Sec D and very powerful. He was good in company or alone but could be a tad 'enthusiastic', shall we say when hounds were involved. I talked to him a lot then too but in language that was rather......................!!!!

It's always good to gain lots of knowledge before getting your own horse! You can also consider a share or part loan as then you can learn by experience without the responsibility of owning one :)
KATE CABLE hi! good for you! i recommend watching This Esme she posts alot of tutorials of how to clean/ take care care of ur horse, or horse riding tips! :D and other channels it helped me alot! If its a rescue then please be patient with it its not easy, good luck!

Your real brave to do this. If I did it on my loan horse called sally I would have been in full gallop the entire time 😂 no thanks 😂. Once I was on a nice hack on the sandunes and gave her one small squeeze and then I was off into a gallop. I had never galloped before, and it was in a enclosed area. So I realised we were starting to get near the gate so I pulled her up and she wouldn’t stop... as soon as she saw the gate she just stopped and I flew over her head. I got the whole thing on camera. That’s why I’m waiting a bit longer to do XC, and get used to her speed a bit more. For the size she is tho 13.2hh she can go faster than people expect. My mum when she saw me galloping was so funny she was like 😨.
I just found this and am so delighted! Loved the entire ride, everyone seemed so jolly, your horse is a delight! Yes I did get a kick out of you calling your horse a tithead :) That horse knows exactly what you are saying in words and sound, very responsive! Truly enjoyed every minute, thank you!

6:17 aww what happened :( it was going so well. I'm like the lady on the grey I used to be at the back to pick up and of the horses that didn't want to go and they would just follow like a train 😆 sometimes there were loads, other times there were none which made me happy lol. Was it the tree that put her off?

Are you able to give a rough estimate as to how much it would cost to be able to go on rides like this? I’m interested in how much it costs to take care of a horse, what equipment costs are, and if one needs to pay to ride at events like these?
This was £20 per person. But it varies dependant on location, organiser, type of event etc. The equipment I have on Carrie at this ride is probably worth about £800, that's bridle, saddle, boots etc. X
Equinologee and owning/leasing a horse?
Well it all depends on the horse. There's the initial cost to buy it, how much livery is (depends on type of livery and location), different feeds, insurance, teeth, vaccinations, feet, worming etc. For Carrie I'd probably say she costs about 200 a month to keep. Vaccinations cost about 60 (every 6 months or yearly), feet are 75 roughly every 10 weeks. It's really hard to give a specific amount I'm afraid lol.
I had someone part lease my pony and they only paid for his livery.

Did the rider with a little green ribbon in horses tail know it was there or did she put it there If not her horse could get stolen
Yes. Green ribbons are put in the tail to let other riders know the horse is inexperienced or young :) red ribbons indicate a horse can kick 😊
My pony has a red ribbon when we go to shows because she hates geldings and usually when we go in the summer or spring she’s in heat so we but it on her

No it's very common! It's helps in warm up arenas!

Not always 😊 depends on the horse, it's just encouragement so it's not essential for getting them to jump

I'm from America and I'm confused. Does one person own all the fields or do you go around person by person and ask permission? If someone could explain that would be cool. Also, the little gypsy is adorable.
Sometimes one person owns all the land. For example this Sunday is opening meet and we are going on the hunt masters land. But alot of the time the hunt will go and ask permission of land owners so we can cross their land on our route 😊
The land owners often are members of the hunt and ride too.

Are hunts in England open to the public?? There aren’t many in America, and the few that still exist only have a few members. The hunts you go on have, like, hundreds of riders.
Yes open to the public, some require a subscription some don't. There is a number limit so not quite hundreds of people 🙈 it's a tradition here so there are numerous hunts in each county 😊 😊

How do u make a horse jump?
you ride towards an obstacle with decent momentum (quick trot or canter, depending on height of obstacle) and give it encouragement to move forward with your lower leg, seat and by giving a bit more reign over the jump and in the landing so it can stretch its neck to balance
When they all go off for a nice cantor it sounds nice but when they all explode into a gallop it sounds like the brumbies it’s lovely to hear 🥕🍎🍏🤗

But for proper hunt meets there is a dress code
It would be considered rude to the farmer whose land you ride over to look scruffy.

MrMousley The farmers give permission and the hay has already been taken off. Old turf recovers very quickly. But thank you for your concern.
