It's great to see the photo etch parts..
Those radars on the tower look good.
Can't wait to see the photo etch crew and the new decals!
Maybe you should start on the Y-wing next, and then finish off the planes on the flight deck?

How did you weather the deck? I’ve been struggling to blend the dark areas with light ones to make it look like a used flight deck.

I can’t find anything on TH-cam that shows how to make these PE radar dishes?

Did you hand paint your photoetch after you glued them in? Or did you spray them first?

Bob Fisher I resprayed the tower after applying the photoetch (masked the decals) and hand painted the rails around the rest.

Can you send me a list of all the after-market parts for the USS Enterprise that you bought and if possible where i can get them.
My wife and I are building the 1/350 Scale Tamiya USS Enterprise. This is our first model kit. We thought building a big kit will be easier than the small one hence we bought the biggest kit possible. It's going well so far thanks to your tips. We are attempting to build the internal hangar deck as well as install a fibre optic lighting system. Our current problem is with photo-etch parts. We have bought some like the wheels for the aircraft and hangar deck floor but have no clue as to whether or not we can airbrush Tamiya acrylic paint unto these parts.
We havent taken delivery of any of our phto-etch parts yet and cant seem to find any information on TH-cam as to whther photo-etch parts come prepainted ready for folding or do we still need to prep, prime and paint them.
Your advise would be greatly appreciated.

+anand rajasingham Sure happy to help. :) Yes photoetch parts can be painted, I hand painted all the handrails with acrylic (after they were glued on) and all the tower details were painted with an airbrush once glued on. Acrylic paints will scratch easily when painted straight onto metal, so by painting them after gluing them on to the model means you won't have to handle them once painted. Here's a list of all the parts I used, all of them from different sellers on eBay:
      Trumpeter 1/350 EA-6 Prowler
      Trumpeter 1/350 F/A-18C Hornet
      Trumpeter 1/350 F/A-18D Hornet
      Trumpeter 1/350 Seahawk
      Trumpeter 1/350 E-2 Hawkeye
      Boatswain USS Enterprise decals
      Veteran Model 1/350 Phalanx guns
Eduard 1/350 US Navy photoetch crew
CNDRAGON photoetch details (handrails, radar etc)
Some of those parts like the decals and photoetch can be quite hard to find sometimes. It took me weeks to find the Boatswain decals.
Hope that helps, and good luck with the build!

hey thanks for that... 1 more question for you with the wiring.. how would i get around that instead of using what the book says to do

You mean instead of stretching the sprue? You can actually buy really thin stripes of plastic from hobby stores, I use some of them for tank antennae. Or you could use some nylon or thin cotton.

hey.. love the info.. as im buying one my self here in australia.. what do you recommend i should do with painting etc for the ship

Awesome! Well I guess just try and airbrush it, or use spray cans, will make painting it a lot easier and faster. Use lots of masking tape for the landing stripes. It can be a pain and takes longer than actually painting it, but it's worth it in the end.
