    Looking in that hangar bay brought back so many memories. I served on her in the late 80s. Her top speed is classified, but she can move. We were coming in from workups one time, and we were racing a storm. We were probably doing 40+ knots. The storm caught up to us eventually and we had to slow down. That was crazy. The surge was so bad there was spray on the flight deck from the waves. Nothing was breaking on the flight deck, but it was pretty close. I remember walking through the hanger bay (I worked in AIMD in the island) to see if the gedunk store was open. We were in modified Yankee I believe, so I had to take the long way since there were some doors on my normal path that were dogged. The hanger bay doors were closed tight, and what freaked me out was water - a lot of water - coming in through those hanger bay doors. She took that storm like a champ though and we were soon heading into the bay on the way to Alameda.

    I served on this carrier for 4 1/2 years (Feb 2003 to Sep 2007), and let me tell you.
    The amount of detail is insane. The most accurate model that I have seen so far.
    She was the Queen of the Seas. Saw and felt her doing 38+ knots at sea.
    It's so sad and disappointing that she got scrapped, unique in her class, and the only aircraft carrier equipped with eight nuclear reactors in the world!!!!. Thanks for posting this. You brought many memories.

      Thanks for the comment.
      Some still criticize saying that I mixed current planes with decommissioned ones, or that I did not use the specific insignia of the Enterprise aircraft teams. First, I'm a retired steel worker, I make these miniatures to pass the time, and I didn't get into the merits of which plane was deactivated or not. Second, I wouldn't know where to get (if any) the Enterprise team-specific decals. I did it with the focus of a toy and having fun.
      This was my first job and just by ship I have nine more built and several others in the box.
      It is really a pity to dismantle this ship, even more so because it is the first one powered by nuclear energy. They could keep it as a museum like they did with Wisconsin. This one was a perfect copy because I had a lot of material to base myself on, such as photos and videos of visitors.
      Once again, thank you for your comments, especially coming from someone who served and knew this boat in depth. Others who have also served on it have already contacted me directly by mail and this demonstration of admiration for my work also makes me very happy.
      Thanks.

      y'know, she's not scrapped yet. Her hulk is still sitting in Norfolk, but they've taken a lot of steel out of her for the next Enterprise. Apparently they're gonna tow her to the breakers' yard in '25.

    Beautiful build. The detail is spectacular.
    This ship is so important, and should not have been scrapped. She should be a museum. I cried when they announced that they are destroying she.
    MAY HISTORY NEVER FORGOT THE NAME ENTERPRISE.
    When CVN 80 is finished I hope that ship will prove to be every bit as great as CVN 65. And CV 6.

    Very, very, very nice job. And a great job making the ship look alive and busy in service with the crew bringing the ship to life. Terrific airplane modeling, too. Your modeling is of the quality that inspires others. Beyond a certain point, modeling rises above making a just a realistic miniature copy, and approaches art.

I have heard it said that it could be done, but where do you put the returning aircraft to get them out of the way fast for the next to aircraft coming in when the bow is being used for launches.

    @Jorge Evandro, at the 45s mark, all the detail markings on the structure, is that the same as the hull colour, or is that a darker tint that you airbrushed over in the hull colour?

    • @Jorgeevandro1
      @Jorgeevandro1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the junctions I did a shading before then applied the normal color of the hull. In the photos there is not much shading under the hull paint, but live it is very smooth and cool.

Plane captain Revo g up with pilot wands light up or a flashlight on in hand of troubleshooter on elevator I k ow they would be very small. • @Jorgeevandro1
      @Jorgeevandro1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I used a few Eduard figures at the bottom of the Hangar, always facing and not sideways so as not to show the fineness of the piece.
      Some also from Ka Models and Fugimi.
      But the vast majority were L'arsenal (AC35025 and AC35033) which for me are the best. However, if so, buy in excess because they are very fragile and come many broken. And prepare your patience to paint them. First with magnifying glass, holding with tweezers paint the top, after drying paint the bottom. My patience I spent all of them (KKKK), now from now on only pre-painted figures.

    Hola Jorge! i hooked at your video i don't know how, and now i am too planning to make a carrier like your Enterprise. Already looking for the model and planes. About the making of, I need to know if you did yourself the inner hangars and in which way, or if the pieces to make the decks are already in the box . Also if some planes are already included and you have added new ones by Trumpeter. Another question is if the planes are coming with decals or not and if inside the ship you applied decals or you have painted everything. I have many other questions concerning lights inside and extra details you may have added or if all is already in the box. Wonderful ship!!! i think best compliment is to let you know that you make me arising the will to make one even if i only made when i was teen ager a 1/720 Nimitz :)

    • @Jorgeevandro1
      @Jorgeevandro1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The internal hangar is not part of the kit, as well as some other details of the upper deck.
      All planes I used from Trumpeter. The decals were all purchased separately. The problem in which the work is sometimes criticized, is with the insignia of the planes, but it will be difficult (I did not find) decals for 1/350 planes exclusive to the Enterprise. I also misplaced an older plane (Phanton) mixed with more modern ones (it was a lack of knowledge), but that is also not impossible because they could be being taken to an exhibition (laughs). But seriously, as I made this model only as a hobby and it's just a toy, I didn't care.
      As for lights and internal details, nothing is from the Kit.

    That is one of the best I've see. I have a 1/350 scale USS John F. Kennedy CV-67 kit, by Merit International. I purchased for my dad. He retired off the Kennedy in 79. I want to give it to him for his birthday. The problem? I have zero skills when it come to model building. I'm looking to hire a professional. If you know of anyone that would be willing to take on the task, I'm ready to get started. Thanks in advance!

    • @Jorgeevandro1
      @Jorgeevandro1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know who to do it and I couldn't do another one. It took me a long time on this one. I don't know where you are from, but even the distance gets in the way. I think if you start with a small kit and go training, you will get experience and after a while with patience you can do it yourself. I think your father would even like it better.
      If I can help you with any tips I'm at your service.

    • @dragonsknights
      @dragonsknights 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello from Italy, Thomas. I would suggest to look for some modellers associations near you. In my country there are many and usually the most skilled are the pensioneers since they have a lot of free time. Keep in mind that to make a model like Jorge's one takes at least 3 months working on it daily. He placed lights inside and i think (have to ask him) he made the interiors himself. Planes are from Trumpeter and crew, as he has written in above reply, are Eduard figures, Ka Models, Fugimi and L'arsenal (AC35025 and AC35033)". After seeing this video i too want to make one and already looking for what is necessary. A final consideration: i think that if you make yourself the model for your dad, in the best way you can, he probably will appreciate much more than receiving a professional built model but just bought and given. Surely a surprise but maybe missing something. In other words, in your model there will be much more love for your dad than in the model built by somebody else.

      @@vitan3440 The figures are from L'arsenal and painted with a good dose of patience. There are also some by Eduard at the bottom of the internal hangar.
      As for the lighting of the Island, I used small pieces of Led tape placed so that they do not appear directly when lit, only the brightness. I haven't had a schematic for a long time.
