Imo, Hydro Charge is in a different category than HCW or TW Seal N Shine. It's more comparable to CarPro Reload, DPC Shield, Adam's Ceramic Spray. I really like it so far. Easy application, sheets awesome, holds up in high temp environments(Arizona), and takes very little product to coat my trucks. I have 2 daily drivers with 2 coats applied 7 weeks ago. Still holding up and sheeting great. I'm hoping for 6 months. And at $40 a bottle, I can do 2 coats on my truck 35+ times. Not the slickest feeling after curing, but I dont care.

Brian, another great video, thank you. Your methodical, structured analysis is much appreciated. I have three questions:
    1. This product has 40% silica, is there a threshold where more silica content adds no additional benefit, in other words does the law of diminishing returns apply?
    2. As with carnauba are there different grades of silica, or quality?
    3. Is silica an expensive chemical?

I’ve had this stuff on my Harley almost a year now, seems to still be holding up, but it’s also garaged and I double coated it. I love to use it on people’s cars because it’s so shiny they’re blown away and think it’s something I did 😂 this is a great product from CG. Just corrected a newer black GMC Sierra that was trashed by a body shop “polish” and double coated it, the shine is amazing.

I believe CG's HydroCharge is a DIRECT competitor to Adam's "9H" Spray Ceramic Coating, as both claim to have a high percentage of silica present in their make-up (> 50%). Would love to see these two compared, as I believe CG will blow Adam's out of the water. CG's version truly crysalizes in both the applicator/microfiber that's used in the application, and if not flushed out, the spray head as well. Definitely a good sign IMO.

    • @07wrxtr1
      @07wrxtr1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Because BOTH brands are made by the same blending company in Colorado. This is what made me move on from the majority of CG products not that they are "bad" or anything, but a good wash/clay/polish/wax (pick any you enjoy) + Bead Maker = great results, or even better: wash/clay/polish/Cquartz/ gliss or beadmaker = looks even better. Now all the "me too" spray sealants have hit the market and its' honestly an over saturation which is why they all are very similar, and depending upon how much marketing hype you want to buy into / fanboyism, everyone is going to say one is better than the other when there's little difference. I personally like to support the smaller company and have enjoyed working with the bead maker label from P&S as of late.

For instance the brine solution you sprayed on your panel, take the panel outside in the sun and let the solution dry for a week or so then bring it in and wash it to see if the protection is still there and to see if it prevented water spotting. Thanks for all of the time and money you spend on the products you test for us bro!

Came back to watch this again and realized you said this has 40% Sio2 in it. That's going to be tough to beat. I was thinking DPC Armor, but there is 10% Sio2 in it. However the high water beading Chemical Guys Hydrocharge has me thinking there might be a lot of Silicone Siloxane in it, which may affect it's chemical resistance. Maybe this stuff is worth the $40 price tag, guess we will find out. Looking forward to your test.

Pretty much figured out where this fits in the whole schedule of the outside maintenance. On top of the coating twice a year Bead Maker between those applications and bam. Clay twice a year maybe three , Coat ceramic twice a year , Bead Maker in the middle of all that for maintenance. However this could be substituted with DPC Armor on top of Shield same schedule , Reflect in the middle of the that. Glass coat twice a year maybe in the middle for exercise. Bam once the interior is set with the same type of regimen bam it’s done. I’ll grab some of this only because I like it but I’m currently invested into DPC so this will be for other cars. I also think it’s gonna burn off the trim and engine plastics in about 8 weeks. . Good video.

Yeah, but what about shelf life? If applied as generally recommended will it be good to the end of the bottle? Just a thought. Too many chemicals (not necessarily paint enhancers) spoil on the shelf after 50 to 80% are used.

Now that you have tested it well and had sometime, I would like to know what you think about it on black trim, both satin and gloss, on headlights, wheels and glass? The recommended choice of material and angle when working with a gloss meter:
    * 20 °: clear coating, printing inks, plastics, paper and other materials.
    * 60 °: medium transparent inks, printing inks, plastics, ceramics, marble and other materials.
    * 85 °: low transparent paint, camouflage coating materials.
your gloss meter shows incorrect data, where the gloss level is 96, actually around 92
with it you can only see the difference in the readings

Apex Detail I think at 3 months it’ll need to be reapplied . Looks to me on a really super clean and prepped panel you could get 6 solid months with it actually looking like a coating.

I love CG products, but their spray bottles ain't worth a damn. I've taken their products in spray form right out of the package, and they break almost immediately. Sure with they would look into that.
