  • We witnessed an exciting hour of the p.m. rush at South Station. As usual, you can count on
my humble and non-partisan opinions 😂😂😂😂😂

Great video, and I completely agree the F40s are truly remarkable locos.

The 5:40 to PVD and Wickford Junction was my ride home every weekday night for quite a few years until I retired in 2013. Good memories!

LOVE the F40s, but the GP40MCs on the north side are just absolute monsters. Those HEP generators are insanely loud and give you hearing damage, ironically making them my favorite locomotive the MBTA runs!

They’re slowing being phased out in favor of new rotems. They should be gone by late 2024.

Another great upload from Boston. Like you I find the HSP46s dire. They seem bland, being devoid of any character (the best thing about them is the MBTA paint scheme) unlike the F40PHs and the GP38/40 variants.

Becuase MBTA dont want to pay Amtrak electric usage so they use diesel to save tons of money

@@transitriderproductionsthe providence line to wickford junction would be the only line this would work on. Why would the T have equipment that would be limited to just that line? That is the bigger issue.

I had class in a building that overlooked the NEC in Boston and I always thought the same thing. It was always strange to see the electrified Amtrak trains whizzing by, next to the diesel MBTA trains that were clunking along.

I was up in Boston last year for a few days and rode the MBTA a few times between Boston South Station and Mansfield (to see fast acelas). I first saw those strange locomotives on YT years ago and I don't hate them but they certainly took me by surprise. However I will say as a lifelong Marylander who's ridden MARC countless times and used to their kawasaki bilevels, the MBTA kawasaki interiors are.... interesting. Never seen such a pink/purple interior of a train before lol

At least the bi-levels look clean and shiny, can’t say that for the rest - including Amtrak and the station itself. And why all the dislike for the HSP-46s? Is it because they displaced your beloved F-40s? Is it the pseudo mod, faux European industrial look? Their questionable reliability? Informed subscribers want to know. Help us understand, Tim, we seek guidance.
