I’m jealous of the winter Korean coloring book, I bought the other 2 from Etsy & I don’t see the winter ones,,,,,,,,I don’t feel confident enough to order the way you did.
6:14 I did some amateur bookbinding and the way you break in a spine is to hold the textblock (all the pages of the book) in one hand and push the covers down onto the table. Then add a few pages to the front cover push down, a few to the back cover push down, and so on until you reach the middle. Straightening the middle is the last step. (This applies to hardcover books bound with thread and glue, but it is probably the best approach for perfect bound books too - perfect binding just means the spine is only glued, for example, like magazines). In short, try starting from the covers, not the middle.
I needed to say how much I enjoyed the Urban and Rural watercolor book. The details made it so interesting. Nice to see electrical poles, wires etc. The skies were beautiful! That book gives you the true feel of the scene. I feel like I am looking at an urban artists rendering of a scene. Thanks so much.
I, too, am intimidated by beautiful coloring books. I decided last night I was going to grab my colors open a coloring book and just jump in there and color! I just couldn’t do it. Hehehe. So I grabbed a cheap book from the grocery and colored in that! Anyway, it was encouraging that you have this problem as well. I AM NOT ALONE!! Thanks - love your videos!
You're absolutely not alone! :) I've been trying to work up the courage to start colouring in one of the Green Ivy books - so far, no luck. :) Maybe if I did it as a colour-a-long on the channel, I'd be forced to just go for it and whatever happens, happens. :D We'll see!
Hi Connie! Wow…..awesome haul! I am so glad you managed to order from Aladdin and had a good experience….you chose great books!! I missed out on the winter book from the series you showed as I had placed my order before it was released. Waiting to collect a few books again before I do another order. Look forward to seeing your colour in yours 🤗💗
Thank you so, so much, Shelly, for introducing us to the Aladdin website!! I am absolutely amazed at the shipping speed, the fantastic packaging, and the incredible prices of the books. And your videos were so very helpful in guiding me through the ordering process - thank you, thank you, thank you!! :) And I think you'll love the winter book - it's so cute! :)
Nice books Connie, thank you for sharing. I do appreciate talking through the books - you have great input on them and interesting ideas! I always smell my books - any type of book - I love the smell of most books, including my Korean and Japanese books! There is something nostalgic about that smell. I'm also a pencil smeller, lol. I'll open my Polys or other real wood pencils just to get the fragrance. Freshly sharpened pencils? Yes, please!! Lol
I love Korean and Japanese coloring books, that said I have the one with the green cover & I found the paper to be super absorbent, I couldn’t blend the colors they way I liked but I saw LUCY JUST ADDS COLOR able to do it.
I love the Korean cat coloring books! How cute! I never gave any thought to getting coloring books over seas. Besides the smell, I wonder about the texture of the paper. Is it better or worse in quality than the papers we have on our continent? Thank you. Have a good week.
So glad you liked the video! I've found that the texture of the paper in Korean/Japanese books is generally smoother than paper here. It's usually better quality paper (although we have some great quality colouring books here, too :)) but definitely smoother. That's great for someone like me who loves colouring with FC Pitt Pens but I think it can be a bit trickier to find coloured pencils that work well. I find that Polychromos pencils work well on almost any paper I've tried - but I love my Polys so I might be biased. ;) :)
How curious that your Momoro bear book is square. I purchased mine from Amazon japan and it is rectangular with all the reference images at the front of the book. (shown in my Birthday 2024 haul video). Many of us from several countries have ordered with Aladin just fine. People really ought to just trust the process. It'll save you loads in the long run. I learnt the hard way too by trying Etsy first, as I really wanted the book. So many lovely books, I am on my 3rd order from Aladin it's that good 😉 TFS
That is interesting! What's the paper like in your rectangular copy? I totally get it - it can be a bit nerve-wracking to order online from an overseas website. :) We hear so much in the news now-a-days about online fraud that I totally get why folks might be a bit hesitant. You're absolutely right, though - it's so, so much less expensive and the shipping speed is crazy, crazy fast!! Thanks so much for chiming in! :)
I cannot figure out that Aladin website! When I put my address in, it says it can't be found and it only gives me options for Korea and maybe some others that I can't read. I got it translated to English but the prices were still in "won" instead of US $
Hey Nicole (sorry for jumping in here) - You need to click on the 'international shipping' button for your address otherwise it thinks you are in Korea. It converts the won to dollars at the final stage, eg Paypal. Would it help if I put a few more pointers in a video? I forgot to add it in last time.
@@Beecosy Oh don't be sorry hun! I appreciate any help I can get! I've never ordered anything from out of the US other than on Etsy and a couple of sellers that I purchased from on Amazon that were from the UK but selling on Amazon US. So I'm very new to this and I will take any help I can get! If you want to share some tips that would be awesome but I don't want you to feel pressured to do so. I'm not sure where the international shipping button is. Will that be on the page when I am checking out?
Thank you so much for helping out, @Beecosy! Shelly at Shel's Colouring Journey put together a really great tutorial video for how to order from Aladdin - I linked it in the video description. :) It can be a little tricky but her tutorial really helps! Hello Connie Love all the Korean books..Can't wait till you do a tutorial in a Korean book.🌷

@robynbroderick6822 Glad you enjoyed it! :)
@nedanashu5025 I'm sure the winter one will be on Etsy soon. :)

Thank you so much for the helpful info!!! I'll definitely try to remember that going forward! :)
I don't know if coloring books can actually be too beautiful, but if so, Japan and Korea sure know what they are doing 😃
So, so true!! The art work is absolutely stunning! :)
Beautiful books, thank you for sharing and looking forward to watching you color them.
Glad you enjoyed it! :)

I agree - they are such unique and beautiful images! I think it might be the first book of that haul that I colour in. :)
Great books Connie , i have also ordered from Aladin , twice ! ha ha
Excellent - enjoy your books! :)

Interesting! I'm curious to try out some Pitt Pens on the paper to see how they blend - I'll let folks know how it goes. :)

So glad you ordered from there, I have been looking at that website too so maybe later this year.
It was incredibly fast and much less expensive than Etsy - and no problems at all with the website and ordering. :)
I live in Toronto and I got my order in 4 days from them. So fast!
It's mind-boggling how quickly they can ship overseas! :) Enjoy your books!
😂 I thought it was such a cute surprised sheep, and then you pointed out it was his nose… that makes so much more sense. 😂😂😂
Either way we look at it, it's an adorable sheep! :)
Enjoyed all the books thanks for sharing.
You're welcome - glad you enjoyed it! :)
Thank you all such beautiful book. Ive been interested on buying on Aladdin. May i ask did you use credit card or PayPal?
I believe I used PayPal - I like the safety features associated with it. :)
