There’s absolutely no reason to go out and buy an Xbox these days. Those of us who’ve been on Xbox all these years are basically stuck because we’ve invested so much money into the brand/library and don’t want to rebuild elsewhere. But you PS/Nintendo fans, do yourself a favor and stay tf away… because our games are eventually coming to your platform anyways most likely.

Xbox is the most affordable platform: series s, you do not have to pay for cloud saves, cloud saves transfer to pc games with a windows store version, play anywhere (I bought a lot of games once and get to play them on both pc and Xbox, most recent the FF pixel remasters), game pass. And in my country the PS hardware is always about 100 € more expensive. For an objective consumer price is always a big factor in a purchase. The problem is that most gamers are not objective or think that they are not consumers or customers. If Sony and MS had another long term way of making the same money as from gaming with smaller investment they would probably quit gaming. They give you GoW and Halo because they want your money. I will be on xbox as long as it will be the best deal for me: I just want to play games and pay as little as possible. I don't care if a game is available on other platforms, I don't care about "supporting the devs" (that's just some console war 💩, I am a programmer and that's not how big corporations work). Gaming TH-cam and social media is an entertaining industry loosely tied to the actual games, most creators are in it for the money. Gaming "journalism" is probably the lowest form of journalism, even more subjective than sports journalism. In conclusion: play games not hardware.

I bought a series X two years after a PS5 for a few reasons. Being backwards compatible with Gen 6/7, some games getting the FPS boost and/or up resolution the transition from PS4 to PS5 did not provide, and Elder Scrolls 6 being on Xbox only (Minus PC). Kind of feel as if the $800 I spent on the console and proprietary SSD upgrade would have been more well spent towards a gaming PC or laptop with similar specs at this point.
When Phil say “consoles” from here on out that means games on Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo. That's the only way our “console” games are higher than they have ever been. Makes sense.
Spencer announced way early before XS and PS5 launched that he envisioned xbox as a gaming ecosystem, not just a console. That's why gamepass is everywhere. That's why I bought a PS5 and built a PC. As a Sony person, it worked. I pay Xbox 17.99 a month for gamepass on PC, something I'd never had done before Xbox becoming an Ecosystem.
I don't understand the gatekeeping mentality. I mostly game on PlayStation and Nintendo and if all of a sudden God of War and The Legend of Zelda started popping up on Xbox I literally wouldn't even care it's not going to change where I play those games.
You own a Nintendo System because the games that Nintendo WON'T be putting elsewhere. Call it what you want, it's how Nintendo and other companies help pay for the games they make. Microsoft is losing exclusives left and right, which makes people less likely to need and thus want an Xbox to play their games. This removes funding and then they are less likely to make Xbox exclusive games. It sounds weird, but it is what has been successful for 30+ years previously. Unfortunately it's a feedback loop that results in outcomes that most predict will be overall bad for Xbox and the industry as a whole.
It's not about gatekeeping, it's about misleading your fanbase. People who invented in an Xbox for Indiana Jones could have bought a PS5. Phil squeezed out some extra console sales based on a lie.

I dont understand game tribalism anymore these days,I grew up on Sony and I prefer it but if let's say God Of War or Ratchet and Clank came to Xbox I wouldn't bat an eye. Game wars are far from what they use to be 20 to 30 or so years ago.

@@RhythmGrizz Well think of it this way - sales on other platforms generate revenue to keep GamePass stocked etc. All that money goes right back into Microsoft's coffers. Shareholders don't care about exclusivity - they want ROI. I think Microsoft is also more focused on games with a long tail - games that keep players engaged long after they completed the primary campaign. Once you're done with Indy, is there a multiplayer aspect to it? If not, it makes perfect sense to put it on as many platforms as possible near launch. Sony missed out not putting Helldivers on Xbox - unfortunately that game is now on life support due to some crazy decisions, but I digress.

They could have at least kept the PS5 port to themselves until after the holidays to sell more consoles. It pretty much told people not to buy a new Xbox for the game.
If they stop selling consoles next generation, and all of our digital purchases are gone and we can't download or play them anymore, then you will care. Them pissing away the brand and making the console not worth buying for half the people currently invested in Xbox, so they don't buy the next one, and then the higher ups decide it's not financially reasonable to make an Xbox, it's going to be a HUGE deal. Thousands of dollars down the drain.
RGT still don’t understand that they don’t make money by selling consoles, as consoles have low sales margin. They make money from licensing their games. I won’t be surprised if 10% of their revenue comes alone from Minecraft games on Nintendo Switch. It is short sighted to do this, as console sales is what brings more subscriptions to Game Pass. Cool but if brand loyalty goes bye bye slowly so do games, sure some franchises may survive but if xbox goes 100% third party and exits console business a ton of games will be lost, sure you will have your Halo and Gears but slowly even those will stop selling, people do not forgive easily, its why xbox one sold so low people go wise to their anti consumer bs, brand was damaged, now they want to destroy their brand with lies.
honestly i like that nothing is exclusive anymore. saves me having to buy multiple console and saves me some money. i honestly can't afford to have them all so i'll stick with my pc and switch. most games come to pc in the end and i don't mind waiting. and the switch is just really for their occational exclusives.

If putting some of these potentially huge titles on PS5 is going to help subsidize my day 1 first party titles on Game Pass, then there's no reason to get bent out of shape over it. as an XBOX Series S user i am EXTRMELY disgusted by Microsoft and Phil Spencer's ways of treating the brand. it sucks and unless it changes this is becoming my last modern XBOX console. after this i'm going PC and retro systems, rather have PSP , Wii and XBOX360/PS3 than to deal with this nonsense
Less exclusives on their own console by putting more games on other platforms is a great way to cheapen the brand. If it's really about "running a business", why not scrap plans on releasing consoles that are declining in sales anyway and go full third-party?

Every time Xbox has anything great going for it they manage to drive the excitement way down by stepping on a rake that anybody with 2 neurons to rub together could see coming. I got Xbox when Indiana bones was announced again only because of that game, barely play it compared to my PlayStation and switch. Now the few exclusives I liked on it like sea of thieves and Indiana jones are on the other platform anyway.

With the diminishing sales of consoles in general, it makes the most sense to release these games on ALL platforms. I much prefer my handheld PC over my PS5 and Series X. I can play mostly anything that XBOX has on PC anyway. The PS5 games are also mostly on, if not coming to PC. So…..what’s the take away here?!?!
But they don't have every exclusive. Otherwise Bloodborne and Demon's Souls would already be there. Bloodborne is almost 10 years old. It only seems to be the games post 2019 going to PC.

They announced the PS5 port too early. Instead of it releasing in Q1 2025, it should have been announced at that time. I had xbox from 2022 . I don't see any value apart from gamepass . I thought of selling it and get PS5 last year but suddenly they purchased Activision and announced good games will come to xbox so I didn't sold my xbox . Now they are doing this drama . I am very disappointed for buying xbox

@GenOner First, I want to say PC and switch are a perfect combo because you get all Nintendo, playstation 5, and Xbox games Second, I call cap on not being able to afford both systems because in 2021-2022 I bought a series S in October, a PlayStation 5 in March of 2022, a Series X for my birthday in May of 2022, as well as a, at the time brand new 55-Inch smart TV, and a Nintendo switch OLED in July of 2022. I was 25 at the time and pay all of my bills and I was working at a gas station for $16.25 an hour
With the rising costs of game development XBox can not afford to have many exclusives. In comparison Sony had to sell 7.2 million copies of Spider Man 2 in order to break even. That means that 1 out of 8 PS5 owners had to purchase that game. Comparatively if only 1 out 8 XBox platform owners purchase Indiana Jones that would be about 3 million sales which would be disastrous. Plus, there aren't enough Game Pass subscribers to make the game profitable. Back to the drawing board.
I am satisfied with Xbox as my Series X houses 4 generations of Xbox games. I buy all 3rd party games on it, fine with Gamepass, and I really only use my PS5 for Sony exclusives, and PS4 remasters, remakes.
Microsoft can't play the console wars if they just put all their games onto their competitors consoles. And breaking consumer trust by rewarding loyalty with slaps like this will only hurt their potential sales. Just look at Sega, they didn't lose their console audience over night, they lost them through increasingly stupid moves that made gamers not trust them and made their sales reduce more and more, whereas at their peak the Sega Genesus was rivaling the SNES.
I don’t get why people think there entitled to know a businesses plans for the next few years. They aren’t obligated to tell us anything, it’s only cus the industry is shifting that consumers aren’t sure of things anymore. So we think oh well then X company has to tell us their plans. No regrets waiting. Anyway, just go full exclusive, or put it on all platforms the same day. The timed exclusive value proposition is dead in the water.
I don't care if a game goes to another console, I own them all. What I do care about is them watering down the brand to the point that they stop selling them in a generation or two, and then ALL the games we've all invested in, all the digital purchases that we invested in because it seemed like an ongoing brand, go down the drain. Console warriors don't think about that, nobody has foresight. If the higher ups are willing to give away ALL their exclusives and upend a business strategy that's been going on for 30 years, you really don't think they'd pull the plug on Xbox manufacturing?
The game was multi platform before Microsoft bought the studio. Microsoft tried to get it to be exclusive, which is bs, if the original deal was multi platform then it should stay that way.

Spencer announced way early before XS and PS5 launched that he envisioned xbox as a gaming ecosystem, not just a console. That's why gamepass is everywhere. That's why I bought a PS5 and built a PC. As a Sony person, it worked. I pay Xbox 17.99 a month for gamepass on PC, something I'd never had done before Xbox becoming an Ecosystem.
Even if it wasn't coming to ps5, I would never buy a dust box.

I don't understand the gatekeeping mentality. I mostly game on PlayStation and Nintendo and if all of a sudden God of War and The Legend of Zelda started popping up on Xbox I literally wouldn't even care it's not going to change where I play those games.

You own a Nintendo System because the games that Nintendo WON'T be putting elsewhere. Call it what you want, it's how Nintendo and other companies help pay for the games they make. Microsoft is losing exclusives left and right, which makes people less likely to need and thus want an Xbox to play their games. This removes funding and then they are less likely to make Xbox exclusive games. It sounds weird, but it is what has been successful for 30+ years previously. Unfortunately it's a feedback loop that results in outcomes that most predict will be overall bad for Xbox and the industry as a whole.

@@RhythmGrizz Well think of it this way - sales on other platforms generate revenue to keep GamePass stocked etc. All that money goes right back into Microsoft's coffers. Shareholders don't care about exclusivity - they want ROI. I think Microsoft is also more focused on games with a long tail - games that keep players engaged long after they completed the primary campaign. Once you're done with Indy, is there a multiplayer aspect to it? If not, it makes perfect sense to put it on as many platforms as possible near launch.
Sony missed out not putting Helldivers on Xbox - unfortunately that game is now on life support due to some crazy decisions, but I digress.

Gamepass was pitched by Phil, and other execs to Microsoft, and now we're here. Clearly there's more to the story, but Xbox has been struggling ever since, and with game pass not growing, and people not buying games, they have no other option than to put their games on other platforms because a struggling brand dumped 76 billion into studios, and now they need to make that money back.
That's literally what is happening, and has been happening for 2 generations now. They need to port because they're on life support, dawg. If they weren't, they wouldn't be doing it. Last ditch effort to turn a profit, and make Xbox sustainable.
They could have at least kept the PS5 port to themselves until after the holidays to sell more consoles. Even if 100 people would have gotten the system for Indiana Jones it would have been 100+ sales. This announcement did nothing for the Xbox ecosystem. It pretty much told people not to buy a new Xbox for the game.

RGT still don’t understand that they don’t make money by selling consoles, as consoles have low sales margin. They make money from licensing their games. I won’t be surprised if 10% of their revenue comes alone from Minecraft games on Nintendo Switch.

honestly i like that nothing is exclusive anymore. saves me having to buy multiple console and saves me some money. i honestly can't afford to have them all so i'll stick with my pc and switch. most games come to pc in the end and i don't mind waiting. and the switch is just really for their occational exclusives.
The 360 was so popular than many went through multiple consoles but not really by choice due to the famous red ring syndrome.

Less exclusives on their own console by putting more games on other platforms is a great way to cheapen the brand. If it's really about "running a business", why not scrap plans on releasing consoles that are declining in sales anyway and go full third-party?

Phil knew 6 months ago when he presented the smoke and mirrors that the PS5 was getting Indy as these things don’t simply happen over night. I really don’t understand how they are always so reactive instead of proactive when it comes to communicating information, especially change. It’s not as if they really care about the optics of their brand anyway. Every time Xbox has anything great going for it they manage to drive the excitement way down by stepping on a rake that anybody with 2 neurons to rub together could see coming. I don’t care that they port games to other platforms. I’m only concerned with what the platform will look after all the rakes have left their mark.

I got Xbox when Indiana bones was announced again only because of that game, barely play it compared to my PlayStation and switch. Now the few exclusives I liked on it like sea of thieves and Indiana jones are on the other platform anyway.

MS Xbox division is really hurting, hence all the layoffs and restructuring Ala almost Sega. They figure it is better to get some money out of a game and give Sony some as well, then to not make enough for them to survive. I much prefer my handheld PC over my PS5 and Series X. If I hadn’t purchased these consoles during their initial launch. I probably would only have gotten a PS5 if anything. And that’s for like three games 😂😂😂

You don't need Playstation 5 for its exclusives if you can wait and have a PC.
But they don't have every exclusive. Otherwise Bloodborne and Demon's Souls would already be there. Bloodborne is almost 10 years old. It only seems to be the games post 2019 going to PC.

They announced the PS5 port too early. Instead of it releasing in Q1 2025, it should have been announced at that time. These are the kinds of decisions people like Phil Spencer are in charge of making. He doesn't even know what his consumers care about. He deserves all the scolding. One of the reasons I was hyped for this game was because I could finally put my XBSX to use. Now i might as well just wait for the PS5 port. Xbox is falling off.

Well let me tell you why I bought an Xbox. I like Xbox's UI, the ability to play backwards compatible games, quick resume, Dev mode for emulation, and while the controller doesn't have haptics or gyro its still way more comfortable in the hands the the duelsense in my opinion, and lastly gamepass still being the best deal in gaming even after the price going up, I say all that to say this, Xbox has a tone of reason to own one if you just want to play games, If you only bought a Xbox for the exclusives you're in a world of disappointment I learnt my lesson back in the xbox one days 😅. Also you people know you can own both consoles right? We aren't fucking children anymore waiting on mommy and daddy to buy one or the other plastic box, or don't buy a Xbox or playstation and just spend the money on a PC

Second, I call cap on not being able to afford both systems because in 2021-2022 I bought a series S in October, a PlayStation 5 in March of 2022, a Series X for my birthday in May of 2022, as well as a, at the time brand new 55-Inch smart TV, and a Nintendo switch OLED in July of 2022. I was 25 at the time and pay all of my bills and I was working at a gas station for $16.25 an hour
With the rising costs of game development XBox can not afford to have many exclusives. In comparison Sony had to sell 7.2 million copies of Spider Man 2 in order to break even. That means that 1 out of 8 PS5 owners had to purchase that game. Comparatively if only 1 out 8 XBox platform owners purchase Indiana Jones that would be about 3 million sales which would be disastrous. Plus, there aren't enough Game Pass subscribers to make the game profitable. Back to the drawing board.
I am satisfied with Xbox as my Series X houses 4 generations of Xbox games. I buy all 3rd party games on it, fine with Gamepass, and I really only use my PS5 for Sony exclusives, and PS4 remasters, remakes.

Microsoft can't play the console wars if they just put all their games onto their competitors consoles. And breaking consumer trust by rewarding loyalty with slaps like this will only hurt their potential sales.
Just look at Sega, they didn't lose their console audience over night, they lost them through increasingly stupid moves that made gamers not trust them and made their sales reduce more and more, whereas at their peak the Sega Genesus was rivaling the SNES.

I don’t get why people think there entitled to know a businesses plans for the next few years. Timed exclusivity in 2024 is just plain dumb. If someone has a PS5, are they going to buy it on PC or XBOX because it's not coming to PS5 for a few months? Perhaps if people don't have a shred of patience or maturity, but if you know it's coming, it's easy to jut sit and wait. I've been waiting for FF16 on PC for example as I don't want my games on consoles anymore because I want all my games in the same place - on PC, and low and behold, this week FF16 was announced as coming for PC in the next couple of weeks. No regrets waiting.
Anyway, just go full exclusive, or put it on all platforms the same day. The timed exclusive value proposition is dead in the water.

I don't care if a game goes to another console, I own them all. What I do care about is them watering down the brand to the point that they stop selling them in a generation or two, and then ALL the games we've all invested in, all the digital purchases that we invested in because it seemed like an ongoing brand, go down the drain.
