I tried a simpler method on my own ef2000i : removing the studs only, which (I thought ) would work just fine, just as it does for other small engines of similar design. Well, both studs were jammed tight by some locking agent...so finally I had to remove all that stuff, too. But with the carb out , I then persuaded the studs to un-screw, using strong new visegrips. Stud threads were then anti-seized and are now easily removed using the 2-nuts trick. It now takes five minutes to get that carb out, no need to remove anything beforehand, except the service panel + air box. I found that service panel quite hard to pull out ... not anymore with a bit of dielectric grease applied to its 3 'prongs' Just bought mine and have a question :are these things as reliable as other Yamaha products ? I see there's no oil pump in there...
After you undo the two screws on the top corners, just got to pull the middle section harder. but pay attention not to bend the plastic! It's only a push fit, but very tight when new.
