    This is great! The only video I’ve found that doesn’t require you to completely disassemble the generator to get to the carburetor. Saved me tons of time. This guy knows what he is doing.

      Do you have to put it thru super sonic cleaner or will carb clearer work just fine.

    • @shananigans1179
      @shananigans1179  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @xMoKaManX that depends on how bad it's gummed up and what you got at your disposal. If you've got an ultrasonic cleaner might as well use it. If you don't then just make sure that you rod everything out real good and you're getting carb cleaner through all the passageways that need to be open.

    Nice work brother. thumbs up. the q tip polish in the needle port was a nice touch. the only picky part i could find was you didn't snug slight twist the fuel bowel to you feel a natural solid seat on the gasket Hold in place with slight hand grip and bring the bolt up to grip before releasing the hand pressure before tightening Heheh. nothing worse then a leaky fuel bowel after assembly. Great job brother

    If you Yammy is just surging it most likely is the pilot jet. That is the only thing you need to replace. Once you have the carburetor free, do not disconnect anything from the carburetor except the 2 long phillips head screws that hold the top on. Do not diconnect the fuel line or choke cable, no need. With the carb free just swing the spring loaded arm to the side and take out the jet retainer that holds the pilot jet in place using a phillips screw driver. It can be difficult to clean if cloged for long. Pilot jet part number replacement is 7cu-e4142-37-ao can be ordered online. Very easy to replace.

    Thanks for the video. My 20 year old 1000 wouldn't start, and watching this video helped me out. My carburetor pulled straight out to the side, so I didn't have to remove the studs. The needle valve was stuck, and after cleaning everything, it started right up and idles like new.

    The audio was a little low in the beginning, but I got the picture! Because there was too much involved for my ability to clean it, I decided to replace it instead. Your video showed me in perfect clarity the steps I needed to safely remove the carburetor and put it back in. My Predator 2000 sat for over a year without any stabilizer and ended up surging/hunting and I knew I had a problem. In less than two hours, it was sounding like new all over again. The best highlight I got from this was the locking of the nuts together to remove the carb bolts. Excellent, and thank you for a great video. Too bad I can't post the pics I took along the way.

    You, Sir, are a professional. That was obvious long before I read the vid notes. Your instructions are very clear even without sound. Sorry that part didn't work out. However, I looked into my unit when it first started acting up. I thought "how in the heck do you get in there?" I've been a wrench all my life but I'm smart enough to know when not to tackle something that the part you want to get to is the last one to come out. I sent one of my units back to the dealer under warranty (I thought) to be repaired. OUCH! Still can't understand where the $100 in parts went?! Armed with your instruction I can now get both my units humming again. This ethanol fuel is an absolute crime.

    I'm a mechanic. Both of mine's studs were loctited to the death, so I had to take it apart to slip the carb out. Then I had to use visegrips + a lot of strenght to take out the studs.( they were scratched , but re-usable after filing them clean ) You bet I anti-seized the threads
    upon re-install ! I have no idea why Yamaha chose to jam those tight...
    There 's no need to take off the step motor as the pilot jet is accessible from atop. Then with the bowl out, all jets/passages are easily accessible for cleaning (wire strand and carb cleaner (nozzled) are ok, compressor helps (even an inflator works).
    I chose to remove the pilot screw plug on mine, it is 5mm thick and a pita to get out (my drill hit the screw head - only slightly but bottomed it at ZETO turn out.....so I had no iidea what the factory setting was... In the end I adjusted it 2- 3/4 turns out as recommended
    for previous models, and the plug now looks just fine.
    Thanks for the video.Mine is brand new but seeing it convinced me I had to have a look at this messy arrangement - Honda's 2000/ 2200 are much simpler to work on - but getting the studs out is the solution, hey !
    So this carb can be cleaned in less than one hour - but draining it when needed and using top
    fuel + addditive will save a bunch of time & hassle. I don't even plan to ever have to open it
    again.
    Nice job Shananigans !

    • @shananigans1179
      @shananigans1179  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment.
      The only reason I took the motor is off was to run the carb through an ultrasonic cleaner.
      It's crazy that the studs were in so tight though. I did 2 right in a row and both came out fairly easy. But there have been others that have had super tight studs. I wonder if it has something to do with weather. My summers go up over 100° F. Maybe the heat helped loosen things. Who knows. :)

It was only running with the choke full on, LOL I actually modified i small rubber hose to keep the choke throttle all the way out. Now it runs with the choke off yea!! but now I am surging, rats!! At least after seeing this video I dont have to do a complete removal of the tupperware. Intresting thing is my pilot (idle) jet doe not seem to have a hole in the bottom, but all the videos show there is on. I even looked with a magnifying glass, curse my old eyes. I was so glad I saw this. Unfortunately, your studs pretty much just popped out and mine are locked in to the point that the two nuts have to be so tight against each other that they are distorting the threads on the stud. Even with them that tight against eash other, they move on the stud rather than the stud coming out. Now I feel that it might be easier to just vise grip them out and buy new studs rather than follow another video I saw where the guy takes the entire case apart just to pull the carb off the studs. Any suggestions?

      Maybe add a third nut? I didn't have any issues on any of the ones I have had. Try turning the nut that's farthest inside. I guess you could always just replace the studs too. :) Good luck.

      @@shananigans1179 The inside stud came out a bit easier. Definatly some kind of thread locking compound on them. The outside one I just put steady force on for a few minutes, then hit the wrench with a hammer. That broke it free. Thanks for the quick reply. It was surging in ECO mode, which I read somewhere was the idle jet. It's running better now.

    Hello! I was wondering if i could get your help! I have a generator with the same motor but is having a surge issue. I have cleaned the pilot jet 2 times aswell as the other 2 jets and all the holes and what not in the carb. It is still doing the same thing after going through and cleaning everything. I even stuck wire through the idle jet and poked it through one of the three holes. I started it up and it is still having the same issue. Do you have any idea what it could be? Fuel Filter seems clean and i shot some carb cleaner in there too. At this point i dont know what else to do. Thank you in Advance!!

    • @shananigans1179
      @shananigans1179  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Did you try fresh fuel from the pump? Also if an o ring isn't sealing then it could cause a surging as well. If that all checked out you may want to find an ultrasonic cleaner to run the carb through to just make sure something isn't still in there. Good luck. and thanks for watching. Let me know what you find. It may help someone else down the road. :}
