- Dark elbows, knees, and knuckles is common and normal in skin of color, but may worsen from dead skin buildup along chronic friction overtime.
👉🏻Tretinoin helps with skin turnover and pigment; urea improves skin hydration and thereby gently exfoliates.
You can sub tret with adapalene; urea cream in 10-20% range is most helpful but any urea formulation will be beneficial. Both are available via prescription, drugstores, or online.
Remember this treatment process takes time!

I went to the doctor to get tretinoin for my hyperpigmentation and the dumbass didn’t even know what tretinoin was, she googled it in front of me and then said she was unsure what it would do despite me telling her what it’s used for and I just need it to be prescribed to me and she didn’t do it because she had no idea what it was 😑 I still suffer from terrible hyperpigmentation they won’t go even after all the useless things that doctor gave me
Was the doctor not a dermatologist?
Impossibls that a dermatologist doesn't know what tret is
@@gloriapascua1044 Yea, I'm pretty sure the doc wasn't a derm.
Try Nurx they prescribe tretinoin virtually they are dermatologist, create an account and set an appointment
You owe it to yourself to get a better dermatologist
Hi Dr, can you recommend products for dark spots on body skin?
Dr Liu, since urea has some exfoliating effect, would it help with acne? I am not looking to use it for acne per se but I see decent results with a hand cream with urea (no percentage mentioned), and someone I met is trying to improve acne but she is on a tight budget so I cannot recommend her to buy the retinol products I buy but the urea hand cream and foot creams are inexpensive.
Is Cera Ve Diabetic cream you used in the picture 10% Urea? I can’t find the percent of the urea online & want to make sure. Thanks!!
U should try the eucerin urea cream 😊

pharmacist here. you can't just mix 2 creams together if you want them to be effective! each active ingredient has different demands on pharmaceutical technology.

Thanks for the tip but it’s not like anyone ‘suffers’ from dark elbows
No body suffers from dark pigmentation on their knees elbows and knuckles but it does make it a bit embarrassing to wear revealing clothes like shorts and short sleeve shirts for some people like myself.
@@perlaaraujo4266 same but the usage of the word ‘suffer’ is a little too much
@@dropdeadgreen9421 What if you underestimate the impact of mental condition. Apparently, low self-esteem can kill one from inside.
@@ae5628 what you said is exactly why we shouldn’t use words like ‘suffer’ to describe a very normal skin condition. It creates an image of something being terribly wrong with having pigmented knees and elbows and brings down self-esteem.
And you can’t throw around the world mental health at the drop of a hat. It pertains to mild to serious disorders of the mind. Low self esteem is not a mental health issue per se even though some forms of it can be considered as a symptom of some other mental health issue.
Such a crying baby
Nooo this is bad
