Eminem and Kim met as foster kids in the system. That's why things were so intense so early between them. The Marshall Mathers LP had so many crazy violent songs like Kill You, Stan, Kim, Criminal, Amityville. It was a double down middle finger to criticism he got from his first album.
I was thinking the same thing. I was like “Okay, but now you gotta have her listen to 97’Bonnie and Clyde, but I see it was posted 9 months ago so hopefully she did because you can’t listen to one and not the other.
It actually wasn’t meant to be a prequel, he wanted it to be released on the Slim Shady LP but the record label cut the track for being too violent. After the huge success of the Slim Shady LP he re recorded it with actual sound effects and released it on the Marshall Mathers LP. The original version would have been before 97 Bonnie and Clyde on the Slim Shady LP and it had him doing the noises like the truck horn and other sound effects with his own mouth. He still does both his voice and Kim’s voice on this version but he made it sound less obvious if that makes sense.

Everything else feels like he’s working a job and doing it for the check again.
